Good Monday evening. I’m waiting for the dryer and my son to finish their current tasks so I can get back to my book. :read: So far its an enjoyable “romcom” from an author I’ve never read. I’m just hope it stays clean for me. Sometimes my definition of clean isn’t the same as others out there.

What genera do you like to read? Is there one you completely dislike?

Generally I prefer romantic historical fiction. I’ve got a few authors I can depend on for well written, clean novels. Maybe the changes in social standards make it harder for me to find the same in modern fiction. If its got a bit of mystery, suspense, or comedy with the romance its even better.

Ancient historical fiction can be wonderful too. When I was younger I enjoyed like cowboy/prairie settings but now I can’t get into them. Even when I know its a dependable author.

I will absolutely not read thrillers or anything that will make me cry. DH is currently reading a Frank Peretti novel. That’s a hard no for me! When my kids were little I read a few Karen Kingsbury novels and yeah; she’s very talented! But after a few I couldn’t take one family having SO much drama! Maybe if I had to wait between books it would have sat better.

Its interesting to me that thus far our kids have different tastes. DD enjoys mystery and fantasy. And cookbooks. DS likes nonfiction especially based on historical events. He also likes when I bring home a copy of National Geographic. Sneaky learning. 😉

I read every day for a couple of hours before I start my day. Have always done so. I DO like horror/mystery novels. I love how the detectives always go step by step to solve the riddle and catch the killer. I always wanted to get into forensics, I love what a dead body can actually tell you, that they demand dignity and respect and restoring their name instead of being a number. It seems to me we have an obligation to listen and see what they are telling us, to find and stop these horrific psychopaths from harming anyone else.

I read no science fiction and very little fantasy. I love biographies if they are well researched and really lean to non fiction topics in general. Mysteries are entertaining and I read some that I don't watch first on Acorn or BritBox.

One of our friends who lives two blocks away loves cookbooks. She's an excellent cook and also has read cookbooks from cover to cover. If I go to a used book sale I'll pick up a cookbook for her if I think it looks interesting.
Some cookbooks are crazy expensive now .Book sales and used book store often have good cookbooks that are barely used if at all.
I picked up a Ethiopian cookbook ( a pretty new release )that had a gift inscription that did not even look like it had been looked at for $2 ( new $30 ). You are a wonderful thoughtful friend.

Pretty much anything I can get my hands on. I love cookbooks and will read them from cover to cover like a novel. Good mysteries and science fiction. I will not touch Harlequin romances and the like….do they still write them?

biographies about people like athletes or popstars.
When my kids were younger they had the Amazon Kids subscriptions on their Fire tablets and I went and blocked all those. Reading is reading but I’d rather it be almost anything else at that age! Unless it was related to a hobby or something they were into of course. But no Justin Bieber or Arianna Grande please.

Yes they are! My DD likes cookbooks and trying recipes so we’ve been looking in Barnes & Noble. At least it makes more sense to me when they are full color and have a lot of information like how-tos or cookware explanations. I’ve got a few specialty ones on my wish list but otherwise the library has some good ones at least.

I think they do under some different subdivisions but I’m not 100% certain. Theres a ton of self published trash on kindle (and others) if that’s what floats people’s goats. I’ve come across ones I’m not entirely certain are written by humans or likely not women. Much can be found for cheap to free too. I used to browse the Amazon best sellers and the free lists there every day. Learned to read reviews too! 😩 I did find some wonderful authors that way though. And now I have BookBub emails.

~ In middle school I liked mystery short stories. Later I liked science and human psychology / sociology.
Today I read mostly topic specific for information. Also political nonsense just for amusement.

I have a couple of authors that I really like and I`m working my way through everything they`ve written. I don`t like horror or mysteries or science fiction or romance so much, but I`m not sure what genre I`d say my favourite authors write
