My grandmother had a series of books called "Maida's Little....". "Maida's Little School", "Maida's Little Shop", "Maida's Little House", and so on. There were quite a few books and I read and re-read them when I stayed with my grandmother. I also read a lot of the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mysteries.

And while not a series, I loved "Alice in Wonderland" and "Alice Through the Looking Glass".

I looked that series up and apparently you can still get some of those! One is even available for Kindle for $.99. I might have to get that one. 🙂

My Nancy Drew book collection is gone, but Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass are still on bookshelf. Love them both

Happy first day of school from my crew. I kind of wish I had planned something special for breakfast; but eh oh well. We had a nice weekend and even got to spend some time on the beach. DS already looked over his schedule and the lesson plans for this week and saw that his history curriculum has him reading Little Town on the Prairie as the literature for this unit and grabbed my copy off the bookshelf. I LOVED the entire series when I was in late elementary school. He is older; but I'm hoping he can still enjoy this one at least.

Did you have a favorite book series when you were a child or teenager?

I loved all the Little House on the Prairie books but my favorite was the Mandie series by Lois Gladys Leppard. I've read them multiple times both as a teen and an adult. My DD also loved the series but I had to get her her own copies because mine are starting to look fragile even though they've been well cared for. My copies of the Little House books are half newer copies and half my mom's copies from when she read them growing up.
I loved the Chronicles of Narnia, Nancy Drew, and any horse story ever written---my favorite was King of the Wind.
