The first year that I made it my Brother loved it. Since then I've made it every year. For an extra touch you can add whipped topping to the slices.
I was thinking about vanilla ice cream since my stepdad always wants it with his apple pie. (I don't eat it that way.) Whipped cream seems more my style.
Taco pie!

Who said pie has to be sweet? Why not savory?
My peoples here do not appreciate a good chicken pot pie like I do. :disappointed:

I don't think I have a favorite, there are a lot that I like though. I'd probably say my least favorite is apple. The apples are usually too thick so I don't like that.

You're right. Sometimes, when apples are cut into chunks, they are too thick to enjoy.

Instead, you can peel and core them then slice them on a mandolin slicer. If you use an adjustable slicer, you can make them as thick or thin as you like.

Just remember that, the thinner the apples are sliced, the faster they will cook. If you slice them too thin, they'll turn to mush before the crust is brown enough.

But, if you like your apples soft, go ahead and slice them as thin as you dare. :)

I don't bake as much as I used to... Long story. :(

I made apple filling from just apples, spices and sugar. That's it. Nothing fancy.

Then, get some puff pastry dough. Unless you like making puffed pastry, just buy it from the grocery store.
Put out a square of puff pastry on a baking sheet. Put your filling in the center of the pastry. Just put it in a pile, right in the middle.
Gather up the four corners of the pastry and pinch them together. Don't even bother to make it super neat or even cover all the apples. Just pinch the dough so that it stays together in the middle.

Brush on some glaze made from an egg with a tad bit of water beaten in. Sprinkle on s teaspoon full of sugar. Dust with a pinch of ground cinnamon. Bake according to the directions for your puff pastry. When the apples bake, the moisture will ooze out and blend with the sugar and apple pectin to make a filling.Done

There you go! The simplest, easiest apple pie you'll ever make!

Well, technically, it's called a galette but it's still pie in my book! ;)

I prefer pie over cake. Definitely love rhubarb pie, but also apple, blueberry etc. My mother used to make me a pie for my birthday. My grandfather would look at me and say 'It's birthday cake not pie'
