I've been researching how to introduce a cat to a dog safely and I have a plan laid out. I intend on using my bedroom (I live in a 1 BR apartment) as the cat's safety space and I'm curious as to what I can do with my dog at night, as she sleeps with me at night. I was planning on putting the cat in the bathroom at night and returning her to the bedroom during the day until things were sorted out between the two of them.

Any ideas? Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

That sounds like a good plan, but you'll really need to cover all the bases.
Have a look through our articles, and then see if you have more you'd like to ask about people's personal experiences. :)
In this first one, since the decision is made, you'll need to scroll down to see how to go about it.

And this is important as well:

And, since I know you also have birds, this is basic but worth a read:

Things are going well for the most part! I still have Winter on the long leash as she likes to chase the cat on her naughty days. The dog respects the murder mittens and all Puddles has to do is lift her paw and Winter backs off. I'm still feeding the dog and cat in separate rooms for Puddles' safety. There's been mild growling over food that has never happened before (From the dog towards Puddles) and I want to kick it in the butt before it gets out of control. Winter's play bowed for Puddles on several occasions and Puddles has instigated play with Winter. They like each other a lot! I'm a little jealous, LOL!

I'm so glad things are going well. It sounds like things are going according to plan YAY! HAHA that is funny that you're jealous and I love "murder mittens" lol (it's true tho!) If we do get the pup we are eyeing, I need to get Hazels claws clipped. :runningcat:{---- Hazel running from the vet 😉
