That makes a lot of sense, thank you for sharingSince I'd found something similar in human food, I looked up the tough chew bits in the food. According to Google it's gristle otherwise known as tendons and connective tissue. It is tougher and harder to chew. It would require more grinding teeth which cats don't have. The animals that do have those teeth, other than humans, don't tend to eat meat intentionally. Interesting. However, if it is gristle/tendons I doubt the company will consider it a danger or something that they should remove from the food.
I'd be leery of chopping the bits up because they won't dissolve and could get stuck in the kitty's throat. Just look for them while you're checking for fish bones and throw them out.
