I believe that in vet medicine as in human medicine one of the most important things you can do is demand to know if any test the doctor is suggesting will actually affect the treatment plan. Some tests are to just gather information for research and the results will not affect what is done for or decided about your pet or you at all, and, in my opinion, you should not have to pay for them. If the test results will not affect the treatment, and many will not, then it's just a CYA and/or a money grab. You must save your money for treatments that will actually help you and your pet.
