Hello all,
New to this thread! I recently took in a very pregnant beautiful dilute bob tail cat. I am unsure of her due date but I’m assuming she’s got to be very close and this is why:
Milk came in 2 days ago
Have felt kittens move for 2 weeks
My concerns are she’s still eating very well and also hasn’t seem to drop. Her belly hangs lower underneath her, but she still majorly sticks out on the sides (almost looks like she swallowed a ball). 2 nights ago she had a burst in energy and ran all around the house and also this morning. She’s been laying around most the time, but gets up and walks around for a bit and then will just plop down wherever she sees fit.
My question is, what were some signs your cat was close? My cat doesn’t seem to displaying the normal signs of labor impending besides the milk coming in. Can cats have a big burst of energy before they deliver?

I’d also like to add that today she seems to be nesting a lot more than she was. She’s been walking around the house off and on today checking everything out

Hi and welcome to TCS. Sorry no one has responded yet, but I am sure they will soon! I have very little experience with pregnant cats, but I do know that what goes on before delivery can vary widely from cat to cat. Some cats don't lose their appetite. Getting up and walking about, even pacing, is not uncommon. Checking everything out may mean she is searching for her nesting place. Have you prepared any for her? Not to say she will use them, but you never know.

You probably know by far more than I do, but just in case, I am giving you a link to one of the TCS articles about pregnancy and delivery.

Thank you for your response. I guess I mostly go by what I read on here and the internet that queens usually always stop eating before labor. My cat is a little scrounge and is always looking for food, even though her dish is always full for her. Lol. I do have a few nesting spots for her and the one she’s taken the most like to is the laundry basket I made up for her in my closet.
Thank you for the link, I will definitely read it!

Your cat sounds like she’s at the end — any day now. She’s exhibiting a lot of end of pregnancy signs. Could be a few days to a week after milk comes in. Just be patient. It will happen. Keep us posted!

Today she is eating more than she was before, sometimes I wonder how she can hold so much food with her size. Lol. The waiting game is hard, but we have everything ready to go for the big day. I will definitely keep this post updated once something starts happening!

No kittens yet but had a few more questions. I’ve noticed that her vulva seems to be closer to her bum now and longer, is that a sign of anything? Also, she’s completely stopped nesting which is weird to me. Still eating great as well, I can see and feel the kittens moving a ton (which I’ve seen/felt for over 2 weeks now) She’s also had milk now for almost a week. The waiting game is hard! Here’s a pic of my beautiful kitty!

Just a little update on her behaviors today. She’s been I guess what I would consider a little restless. In and out of my room, laying down for a bit, nibbling here and there. She’s been wanting attention all day and also has burrowed herself under my blanket on my bed multiple times today. She’ll stay under there for a bit, come out, lay down on the floor amd repeat. I’d like to think she’s definitely getting closer now

I weighed the babies this morning and hoping these weights are good! 112g, 117g, 129g and the runt is 99g. How many times a day should I be doing weigh ins?

The weights are very good! Just weigh once per day at about the same time each day. Here are your goals:

Goals are 8 ounces (226 grams) at 2 weeks; 12 ounces (340 grams) at 3 weeks; and one pound (453grams) at 4 weeks — then about a pound a month thereafter until grown.

So at one week they should weigh 4 ounces. Three of your kittens are already almost there. The runt only needs to gain 1/2 ounce or about 14-15 grams in the next week. This should be easily done or exceeded very soon. You’ll likely have fatties pretty quickly, which is A-okay! With only 4 babies the milk bar is wide open.

Make sure mom gets KMR daily to drink for the calcium she needs, fresh water, dry food 24/7, and wet food 3x per day to support nursing. Let mom out of the carrier daily for a break and to use litter.

Things sound great! R RosiePosie29

Thank you so much for the information! This site has helped me so much throughout her whole pregnancy.
She is scheduled to be done after the kittens wean.
She has her own area with food, water, and a litter
box. She has had KMR since she was pregnant via the vets recommendation.

The kittens have gained quite a bit of weight since yesterday and it makes me so happy! The runt went from 99g to 114g, the others went from 112g to 133g, 117g to 132g and 129g to 148g. My scale only weighs in grams, but those gains made me very happy!

They’re doing amazingly well and gaining a ton! Definitely little piggies! I forgot to mention the runt is the little bob tail. Matter of fact, she has no tail at all! Wanted to attach some pics of her and a few of the others
