I left my one year old cat and 6 month old kitten for the first time. We were gone for four days and my sister watched them while I was gone and slept in my house so they wouldn't be too lonely. My kitten has been normal since arriving home. My one year old cat on the other hand still seems extremely unhappy, even though we returned three days ago.

While we were gone my sister said she would run around and chase the kitten per usual, but she did not want to eat or go near my sister. Now that we are home, I have noticed there are scabs and injuries on one of her ears. She spends most of her time sleeping in one spot and will only eat if I bring the food to her (but will get up for treats... of course). She is super against the kitten playing near her and if he is being rambunctious will hiss and swat at him. She usually does not mind his playfulness at all. He can lay with her, however. I am super worried about her, I thought 3 days would be enough time to decompress. She seems to get worse/grumpier at night and doesn't want to be messed with.

I have made a vet appointment for Tuesday, though the vet said they suspect it is likely still her being stressed about us being gone and she should be better by then. Is this normal?

I think she's maybe still a little stressed from the changes in routine. It's good your taking her to the vet to rule anything out.

Some cats are super sensitive to changes around them however big or small.

If I was in your shoes, I would continue to hand feed and encourage to drink until the appointment. Hopefully she settles down in a few more days.

One of my cats is like this. He takes anywhere from 3 to 5 days to settle back after loud notices or new furniture.

Scabs and injuries on her ears certainly isn't normal. Did your sister comment on how those happened?

She did not know- they appear to have come from her back paws though after watching her closely. She also has dry spots in the area.

Try using feliway and purina proplan calming care
I am going to pick up feliway today. We realized our feliway was completely out when we left and didn't think to refill it. I am sure this is part of her stress :(

I think she maybe has something going on with her ears and does not feel well. Hopefully your dvm can figure it out. Maybe an infection or an allergy, a fungus etc 🤗
