Poor Sam threw up a lot this morning

I posted previously about Sam's behavioral issues and his tapeworms but this is a first for me. About 20 minutes ago, I heard that tell-tale gurgling that I used to hear when Pumpkin got sick. Sam threw up in several spots and it wasn't a small amount either. Altogether I'm guessing about 1/4 cup worth of mostly digested food if not more. He was ok prior to this. Sam got into one of my storage boxes but I know he didn't eat anything in it.

He was having the zoomies and running & playing like no tomorrow before this happened. I checked the vomit and didn't see any worms but he had some sizeable hairballs. His appointment with the vet is in 6 days.

I've got some laxatone at the ready and am hoping he will let me give it to him. I"m hoping he will let me brush him more than he already has.

Sometimes when this happened with his brother Pumpkin I would panic but am staying calm for Sam's sake. After this was over he hid underneath the table in the living room in almost the same exact spot as his brother did. He must be feeling better because he's tried to get into that box again, gave up and is sitting with me on this computer table watching his cat tv. Sam is very quiet though.

I feel bad for Sam and want him to know he will be ok. How do I comfort a cat who's very touchy about being, well, touched?

Hey D dianajune . Sorry to hear Sam got sick. I am sure you have already done this but just talk calmly to him even though he might not want to be picked up or touched. It will be good for him to hear your voice. Brushing him more if you can is a good idea. I always find mine need more frequent brushing not only in the spring but fall as well. Hope you are both doing better since you posted.

I need to correct myself. I double-checked that box and found a section of packaging tape - the tough kind with those blasted threads that run through it - on the side of the box and it was mangled. I don't know if Sam chewed on this or not, He was aiming for the edge of the lid, not the side of the box. This was a few minutes before he threw up. I believe that he threw up because of those hairballs.

Should I call the vet? He was acting ok until one of the maintenance staff went down the hallway with her industrial-sized floor scrubber just now. The noise scared him. He was hiding on the kitchen counter and is now hanging out on the window sill. He just had some water.

You are not sure if Sam ate tape? That tape is pretty tough so I am unsure how easy it would be for him to chew it.Could you tell if it was wet like he chewed it? Two options:You could call the vets at the very least it may give you peace of mind and also see what they say or you could observe and monitor for a few hours and see how he is then if you have concerns call the vet.

I believe that if he did, Sam would have thrown it up when he vomited a few minutes later. Imho he vomited because of those hairballs. But I did leave a message for the vet and am waiting for them to call back.

Forgot with the noise he is still getting used to your building and with just getting sick I don't think his reaction is unusual.
