What is going on this week with the birds? I went out just now to re-do their birdbath and the dogs were with me. Willy kept on spelling this one spot- I could'nt see anything. So I get down and look, its a baby birdie
I have a strong feeling it belongs to the one I found dead out front yesterday
poor little baby! it can fly- it even flew up to the feeder to try to eat- but I don't think it knows how
it kept picking little peelets and seeds up, but then it would just drop them. He/she seems very weak. I tried to grab it when it was on the feeder, but then it started trying to fly, ended up in the alley-so I ran and got it before a car could come. It is inside with me inside a box with some tissue and bird seed mix. I have'nt the slightest idea what kind of bird it is
it looks like a small sparrow or wren.

What should I do?????? I'm going to soak some dog ffod in a bowl for now to have that ready in a little while- but other than that I don't know what to do

Can you post a picture? I was a slight bird fanatic when I was younger.
Maybe I can figure out what type it is for you?

I'll get the pics going- hopefully the dog food is ready so I can try to feed it. I'll get to calling too. I'm going like a thousand miles a minute here- sorry for any typo's! This little one is so fragile, and I just don't know what to do with it

Oh no! Everyone hates those little birds. I don't think I'll be getting any help from local animal people. They consider these a nuisence, and would probably tell me to kill it
how can people be that way to a baby?

Well, it is illegal to own any wild bird, even if it's the nuisance ones. I would suggest to try to watch it and feed it some bug larva, perhaps? The wiki site had a list of what they eat.

Well- I just spoke with the wildlife rehab lady. She said this is the time of year when babies leave the nest- I am to put him back outside and watch. If he goes any more down hill then I am to bring him to her

I kinda feel better now- i think.
He/she should be well rested
been chilling with me for the last 40 minutes or so

Ok- wish me luck!!!! PLEASE! I'm on my way outside with him/her...............

StacyD1987: THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!! from the bottom of my heart

before I do that!

There are like a gazillion crickets around- do you think it would be wise to see if he wants one? Or just put him out already?

All I know is they eat A TON of worms...try to feed it.

I wonder why it isn't peeping and opening his mouth to eat

Might as well. Just help him/her out by catching one.

Most likely he/she's not doing that because it's a juvenile and it's ready to leave the nest.

Oh I could so go to bed right now!

Took baby outside set it under the lantana bush. Set some seed down- but he did'nt eat it. Same thing, it would pick at it, but would'nt actually eat it. So, I went in and got the rest of the suet cake I was trying to feed him. He did'nt really have a choice but to eat the suet
that stuff is so goo-ey that it stuck to his little beak- and he ate it!!!!!
he ate that goo for about 5 minutes. Then he hopped through the chain link fence to the neighbors yard, and flew up into a tree. I have'nt seen him since

I think he just needed some R&R- when I went to get him to take him outside, he was awake, and out of his box- just sitting on the steps

Before he flew to the tree, papa came along
and was chirping to him. It was right after that he started getting active, and left my yard.

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!
Bravo to all of you

The little guy outside
