I have a healthy 19 yr old female and started giving her one capsule 300mg a day mixed in wet food. Shes about 7 lbs and thinning out
and drinking a bit more water. pees like a stalion also. I strive to be proactive and have a functional medicine mind set like Dr Mark Hymon Gundry, Levy, Furhman,<Amens, Patrick, (PHD) and Wysong, but NOT PEPPER
Bottle says veterinary recommended and I have seen a few mentions of it here. Contains their patented ABO 70597 secret ingredient.
AminoAvant.com
Also contains 5 isolated aminos with the first listed being glycine then L-aspartic acid, L glutamic acid Lglutamine, L carnosine , histidine and arginine
but not taurine .
Thanks for any input! I should search this in the records here so excuse any redundancies

If you’re concerned about your cat losing weight and peeing more frequently, you should take her to the vet. Kidney problems are fairly common in older cats so checking with a vet isn’t a bad idea, because if there is something wrong a supplement is probably not going to fix it.

blood and urine normal last year. Was thinning and drinking a bit more then also. She had a couple fleas and it raised eisonophils a tiny bit. They came in on her Dad from racoons prob.
They were smaller, semi opaque and TUFF to finally resolve.
She was running up stairs last yr at ejghteen. And so want to keep it that way gosh till 23? Maybe I can get the company to give us a clue what their patented secret ingredient is ?
I did some research and think they are on to something as peptides can heal bad kidneys. heres the N.I.H. link for humans.and peptides.
Kidney therapeutic potential of peptides derived from the bromelain hydrolysis of green peas protein
I use pea protein in smoothies for myself and its made from Pisum Sativum I think green peas.
I googled feline kidney health with peptides and aslo just kidneys and peptides
" we found that protein hydrolysate of green peas origin of Indonesia hydrolysed by bromelain (PHGPB) showed improve kidney function in cisplatin-induced nephropathy rats. In this study, we investigated the effect of PHGPB to obtain effective dose that exerts a therapeutic effect on chronic kidney disease (CKD) based on reducing urea and creatinine levels and to elucidate its mechanism of action." WOW IM KEEPING UP THE ADDITION OF PINNEAPLE IN MY SMOOTHIES, as bromelain comes from them I think

Hi 35 year catdad !

Where it comes to any subject under "kidney cat", my go-to reference is not Google.

It is a single website, in existence for the past twenty years, trusted and recommended by some of the foremost veterinary specialists who have studied, researched, taught about and treated feline kidney disease globally, authored in plain-language based on documented scientific research and writings by a woman who has demonstrably dedicated those twenty years to educating and assisting ordinary folks and professionals in the wellness management of entrusted kidney-cats.............without any financial interest.

I have come to know that author over thirteen of those twenty years as someone to whom I would, without hesitation, entrust my first-born.

Here is her 'take' on the commercial product you're asking about:
"...My feeling is that RenAvast/AminAvast is unlikely to be the miracle cure that its manufacturer's aggressive marketing claim it to be, and it is certainly not cheap at over US$30 a month. It also sticks in my craw that the manufacturer plays on people's vulnerabilities, doesn't play by the rules, and markets the product really aggressively. If the product is so good, why is that necessary? To sell two million doses, I guess.
The best way for cats to take in the correct balance of amino acids is normally from eating a complete food designed for cats, but if you do want to try this product, run it by your vet first. Personally, I would save my money and put it towards more proven treatments."
You'll find her website's coverage of the product here: Tanya's Comprehensive Guide....Renavast and AminAvast.

White Shadow is TOO CUTE I only use Google to quickly list all the sites related to kidney health in cats. I wanted to research "peptides
in kidney health " since that seems to be the secret patented ingredient and according to N.I.H website peptides of green peas and bromelain enzymes seem to work in us humans for kidney health. I put pea protein and pineapples in my smoothie which is funny.

I joined Tanyas group and thanks for reminding me about them. Someone else here recommended them.

I am not looking for a cure for a disease she doesn't have but just preventing problems proactively like in my health. She just ate about a third more than usual of her wet food dinner! its very hot today (usually kills appetites) and maybe a coincidence with AminAvast just 8 days use so far. hmmmm no comments from Chewys where I found it. I think about 10 dollars for 60 capsules about one months worth at 2 per day.. She seems to like it as shes eating more than before mixed in her wet food. Thanks for the reply. Next I search feline nephrology at Google....spelling?

Its been about a month now on AminaVast for my 19 yr old Tortie who is slimming down and was slowing down a bit.
All normal tests at vet last year and I want to keep it that way.
This morning after I fed her the wet food with a capsule of AminaVast I noticed a bounce in her steps!
Also 2 weeks ago she made a high speed run down the hall for fun after she dropped a "package" in her litter box!
She hadn't done that for many months, and this happened in a heat wave which usually makes cats less active.
Its all anecdotal but something is perking her up with a slight appetite and weight gain so far.
Will update....
Most days I just use one emptied out capsule in her breakfast and instructions say 2 capsules a day.

We ran out about a 3 weeks ago and now on October 19 she is having trouble urinating and off to vet tomorrow for blood and urine work. First time ever in her 19 yrs with this problem. Got more 4 days ago and she is eating about twice as much as before already! and peeing much better/less often.. All anecdotal but what works works. It doesnt have a taste so no problemo mixing it in her food. Will show bottle to vet to see what he says......its a mix of 7 amino acids and a proprietary form of a peptide enzyme? Made for kidney health. Not cheap at 23 a bottle for 50 caps.
Both times on it I notice way better appetite and more energy/vigor.

Good news from Tanya's guide and thanks for the link!
"The study found that RenAvast appeared to have positive effects on the creatinine levels of the cats in the study, though again, it is not known what other treatments the cats were receiving, and they did not have any concomitant diseases such as hyperthyroidism."

we've got normal T4 and have had good luck with AminaVast so far. Their secret patented peptide info is released to vets when they call their supplier. Its kept secret from us who use it. hmmmmmmmm

Heres an IDEXX guide to renal function

Best not to cherry-pick what an article is saying. That is the only positive comment in an otherwise ambivalent review of this product, and refers to one ambiguous study.
More of the article:

Some members of my support group have tried RenAvast/AminAvast and like it, whereas others think it has either not helped or has made their cats worse, but they did not report this to the manufacturer.
What do I think? My feeling is that RenAvast/AminAvast is unlikely to be the miracle cure that its manufacturer's aggressive marketing claim it to be, and it is certainly not cheap at over US$30 a month.
