Dynah Update:

Good news: All of Dynah's bloodwork came back negative :) (i don't think I mentioned this yet) and that is a big relief!

I will submit another stool sample around the 4th of July to see if those nasty worms are dead. The tech told me that they could also just be in an inactive period. That is how the meds work. It can kill them all, or some worms go inactive only to rear their ugly selves again. I think we got them all but, better to test again.

Also, they reminded me that the vet seemed to think that the eye discharge from feline herpies, will have to be addressed. I got a close pic of her the other day. I do not think it is something that needs to be addressed at this point as I do not see any discharge. If anyone thinks I should do so now, please chime in.

Dynah is still sloooowly getting back a little trust in me again. That meaning she may not go hide in her cubby in the cat-tree when I peak in to say hello! I got too close again yesterday when I placed a couple of cat treats on the landing and, when I went back to see if she ate them, I got a soft hiss. BUT, last night, she did come into the hallway to the edge of the kitchen (she used to do this) as I was preparing some wet food! This is really something! She has not done that since the "carrier" incident 3 weeks ago or so!!!

She also got to see a Bear and a very mean Turkey up close from her Cat-Tree this week! That may be why she has seemed to turn her trust in me in her safe house, from a scale of 2 to a wopping big 4 out of 10 Hahahah.

So she is making progress again. BABY STEPS all the way with this one. Thanks folks! I will have that close up pic posted next time.

Great news Greg .... ask your Vet about adding L-lysine into Dinahs food, great supplement for viral support (both for eyes and upper respiratory)

My Max gets FHV flare ups with eye infection symptoms - the L-lysine has helped alot ..... so with flare ups ocular antibiotic drops only treat this symptomatic infection, the cause being viral they usually need anti viral meds as well so it can all be very difficult medicating a semi feral cat - you would do well to try to prevent any flare ups- stress is a big factor so Dinah has a pretty stress free life and hopefully she'll not have any re-occurrances

Thanks! I think that is the med they mentioned and we talked about it being put into food for Dynah. I will order some for sure.

Yes, she is pretty much back to her old self as far as roaming and lounging. Very stress free!

Hi again guys! Wow, I can't believe it's been well over a month since I checked in with my girl Dynah!

Her health seems very good and is quite content now. Still very wary of me most times BUT...she let me touch her back paws on two occasions (including today!...while she was resting in her cattree!!! :yess: ...and she didn't even bat an eye-lash!!!!

I was singing softly to her as I very lightly stroked her rear paw a few times ever so lightly on both occasions. She likes to hang them out of the cubby hole sometimes and they just are begging to be touched

So, she also has become quite the alarm girl as she goes crazy when she sees a Bear and the security camera(s) catch her running 1000 MPH around the room while she gets to another window. And now we have 3 BIG turkeys with a dozen little chicks keeping her busy along with all of the other critters too!!!

She sleeps ALL DAY now. From the time I get up in the morning, to around 7:30pm or even when I go to bed later, she stays in her cattree, after roaming ALL NIGHT LONG! She goes from room to room, window to window sometimes non-stop, only taking short breaks to stop and eat or rest while watching from the windows. I wish I had her energy!

Sometimes she will come out a bit early if she wants wet food, so she will go in her bedroom and start flinging marbles and playing with her rattle toy. That means "I'M HUNGRY,,, come and feed me!!

Sometimes she will want to play with me too. She has let me get closer to her again in her bedroom. She is still a work in progress but she is slowly progressing. She will NOT come in the living room or any other room while I am in that room. BUT,...my cameras revealed something I wondered about for a long time now...has she ever come into my bedroom while I am sleeping???

YES!!! SHE DOES!!!. I could not believe it when I put a security cam in my room and that very night she came in to prowl and check in on me multiple times!!! Unbelievable!!

So, there you have it. DYNAH has made my house hers and seems quite happy here (going on 8 months now)

Thanks for looking and I will check in soon!

I love Dinah’s story. I literally cried reading through your journey together. You have saved her life and you will never regret it.

Although the process of becoming a loving house cat is slow, she has made amazing progress. Every sign points to her future as your best and most devoted friend. You will give each other so much happiness.

Thank you for all you’ve done for this sweet cat!

Hello again Cat folks! Just a Dynah Update. Last post was August 6th WOW!

My girl is becoming a real house Cat now. She is warming up to me more and more. Tolerating me being next to her while she is in her Cattree or Catcave. She even put her nose to my finger to steal a smell while resting in her Cattree last week! She really feels safe while in her cubbies there. She still sleeps most of the day and gets up when I retire for the night and roams the house ALL NIGHT LONG with a break here and there to rest. She still will not approach me directly but that's ok.

As the the weather is changing to cooler, her habits are beginning to change some. She now gets up from her daytime sleep much earlier. She will then go out on the porch or upstairs to check it out or, just stay up in her cattree posts but usually she will let me know if she wants to play. So we roll marbles and balls of yarn back and forth and play tug of war with her string. Then she goes back for a nap.
It has been such a nice feeling to see her so content and having a safe place to eat, drink, play, and be merry :clapcat: Now, instead of running under her bed when I run the lawn mower, she just lays right there in her cattree! Amazing! The only thing that scares her now is thunder storms.

And she still lets me rub her back paw pads if they are hanging out of her cubby hole! So damn cute! I really believe she is totllay at ease now. Just the look on her face seems like a much happier look to me. Her whole demeaner has changed. This is her house now and she loves her life! We just had our 9 month anniversary together

There is however, another cat that is coming around, just like Dynah did. The same time of year, hiding in the same broken down garage next door. This Cat has a collar though. I have been feeding this new Cat but like Dynah was, it is afraid of everything. If it sees me, it bolts away. I find that odd since it must have a home and is used to people. It may have been hit by a car or got in a tussle with an animal as it looked like it had some wounds on it's back hip. But they now seem to be healing and it never looked to be in any pain at all.

So I will stop back again to give more updates. If this Cat continues to hang around, I may have to think about bringing it to a vet if I can trap it.

Thank you all again for your help in the past as always!

EDIT: forgot to post a new pic! Here she is!

This is wonderful! I can picture her contented cat face. It's heartwarming how she behaves toward you now. I believe she will become even more comfortable with time, but if not then she is content right now, and that's something special.
I hope you can trap the other kitty for some vet care! It may have wandered far from it's home, who knows how long it's been out, and maybe is the type of cat that is scared of everyone at first, and for awhile.

Thanks so much for the update!

Thank you guys! I really appreciate your feed back and so does my girl Dynah!

I just had a friend post a picture I put together of the stray cat on social media in our area, so hopefully someone will recognize it and chime in!
Here is the stray. I am calling her " Zeezah" for now.

Haha...yes she is! She has these beautiful big blue-green eyes! Almost Siamese Cat like eyes! Poor thing constantly stares at my front door window watching for any movement or sound. If I look out when she is there then BOOOM...she is gone for the rest of the day 🙁
