Luna is our 6 month old British Shorthair kitten. She's the friendliest, most playful kitten we've ever known and we love her with all our hearts. She has always followed us everywhere we go, snuggled up to us at night and been there waiting for us when we come home.

Unfortunately, within our first 2 months of owning her, we noticed she was beginning to have trouble breathing while purring, having to try to breathe through her mouth and even wheezing after being stroked. Upon taking her to the vets and getting many tests she was diagnosed with Wet Effusive FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), with early symptoms showing pleural fluid building up around her lungs.

Unfortunately FIP has always been considered a fatal condition and, officially, it is incurable. It causes the blood vessels in her chest cavity to become damaged, leaking fluid into her chest and and restricting her ability to breathe.

Thankfully our vet has mentioned that there may be a few options; there are several drugs which are having very promising results, with many cats going into full remission, with only a few cases of relapses.

The problem is that the medicine is too expensive for us to afford at this point in time, as it requres specialist intervention which our pet insurance will not cover and a full course of treatment will cost us roughly £3000.

Luna is a very playful, bright and affectionate kitten and she makes it very clear every day that she still wants us to make a fuss of her, but simply can't allow it for too long as the purring gives her a coughing attack and she needs to find a quiet place to sit instead. It breaks our heart to see her this way and the earlier we can start the treatment, the greater the chance of her being able to fight this horrible disease.

We're reaching out in the hopes that we can raise enough money to see our beautiful kitten grow into adulthood, happy and healthy and able to once gain enjoy the playtime and cuddles that she was used to.

If you can donate anything at all, or even just share this page, we would be so incredibly grateful. Please keep Luna in your thoughts and send your positive energy towards her during this difficult time.

What a beautiful kitten she is! I am so sorry that she is battling this filthy disease. If the need is still there after the holidays, I will do what I can. Right now, it is just impossible. But I WILL have a candle lit for her.

Luna is so cute. Okay, I am going to see what I can do.

I just want to ask a couple of questions: Will the vet work with you? Is there a cheaper version of this medication? Can you get this medication from another country?

That picture of her in Black & White as she looks at the sunlight/sunset made me cry. I do pray in all sincerity that she would be given a chance at life to witness many many more years of sunrise and sunset.
