PLEASE HELP! 4 yr old NEUTERED Male cat crying CONSTANTLY to go outside

I have a 4-year-old neutered male, an indoor cat, never goes out ever! he just started meowing by the door and I do not know what to do. He is scaring me. Should I take him to a vet? all he wants is to go outside.

Any behavior change warrants a trip to the vet IMO.

Is there something outside that your cat wants access to? Strange cat hanging around outside? Birds?

Does he have access to a window he can look out of? My cat has access to a wide window ledge and will sit or sleep there for hours. Sometimes he sees something interesting. Do you play with the cat a few times a day? Using a cat wand or other interactive toys will help simulate hunting and will tire him out. Cats are naturally curious creatures and he probably wants to know what's on the other side of the door. My cat is like that. Maybe bring him outside on a harness and a leash so he can't run too far?
