Hello,

My cat has a small lesion on his penis and has been bleeding a drops of blood daily for about two weeks. He has been to the vet 3 times and has done a full blood, urinalysis with culture, and bladder ultrasound. No one can figure out with the lesion is- whether it’s from trauma, a tumor, cancer, etc. My cat son is 15, has kidney disease, is obese, has IBD, and is my world. The options are- do a PU and remove his penis and test to see what this lesion is or continue to monitor knowing he could very well get blocked or it could go away on its own. I am going back and forth with surgery due to the risks but know keeping it and him still bleeding is a risk too. He is still eating and drinking normally, is not straining to pee, and overalls seems happy. Would love any and all advice.

Hi, Welcome!

I was wondering - regarding his weight, are you feeding him kibble?

If you can't find an actual urologist, you might look for a veterinary internist or oncologist. Your vet can also communicate with specialists on your behalf at other clinics and teaching hospitals not in your state. Having a specialist involved is often the quickest solution and the least expensive in the long run.

Sorry - it’s terrible racing from one option to another and not finding any relief. My cat had PU surgery. TBH it was pretty major and the recovery was no piece of cake either. And even after that he kept getting UTI’s. Anyway, I felt like I did something, but it only caused him more suffering in the end. Meaning you may end up in the same place (or worse) by having the surgery.
