Isn't it funny how even though these are in black in white, I can (most of the time) clearly envision what colors the cats are?
I once took a master class lecture from a famous professional photographer; the guy who took that famous photo of Jacqueline Kennedy on the cover of Time Magazine. He made a good argument for shooting in black and white:

When you take a photograph, you compress the 3-dimensional world down, into two dimensions. When you're composing a photo you have to be very careful to avoid too much visual clutter that happens as a result of that compression. If you are not very careful in composing that photo, color only adds to that sense of visual color. Shooting in black and white removes that element of color and allows the viewer to see the picture as you intended. In the end, most people will mentally add color when they see your photo, anyhow.

In the end, the takeaway is that unless your photo uses color as a thematic element; unless your photo is "about" color, it's often better to shoot in black and white.

Take for example, the American Flag. Everybody knows that the American Flag is red, white and blue. You don't need to have a color photograph to make people understand that. People just know. Now, consider a photograph of the American Flag. What is the picture about? Is the picture about the color of the flag? Are you trying to showcase the color of the flag against the background of a clear, blue sky? If that's the case, by all means, shoot the photo in color! Is the flag just part of the picture? For instance, a group of soldiers saluting the flag? The photo isn't necessarily "about" color, is it? No, it's about the soldiers. Besides, every body knows what colors the flag is. Right? Maybe you don't need to shoot that photo in color. Maybe it would be better in black and white.

Of course, you're the artist. You should decide. However, I think that the guy's lecture made a lot of sense and I remember it, even today. :)

That's one of the reasons I like black and white photography better. ;)

mani mani should I PM you a picture for entry or post it here to be converted to black and white?
Away from my PC nurseangel nurseangel but I will get to it. 🙂

Angie, I've just seen Bob is 'not an entry' but I BW'd him anyway.
Did you have a different picture you wanted to use? You can post it here if you have.

Let me look through my pics and see who I should choose. I took the picture of Bob trying to get a lion face from a yawn. Instead, I got something like the Screamer. :paranoid:

Entry: Baby Bob

And not an entry, just a picture to show Oscar off, if it's not too much trouble mani mani . He showed up as a stray wearing a tuxedo, very overdressed for my house. He was named after my precious childhood Guinea pig, who my parents said ran away, so he is still out there somewhere in the swamps of Georgia. Oscar the cat has big shoes to fill. Anyway, here is Oscar for the first time on TCS.
