Does anyone know if you can get pet insurance AFTER your cat is diagnosed with an illness? I just adopted my boy last Tue 11/24 and he was diagnosed with Triaditis today. It all happened so fast and pet insurance wasn't even on my mind. Can I apply now and back pay but then submit any expenses against it?

Also, any pet insurance carrier recommendations?

No carrier will cover pre-existing conditions, unfortunately.

If you still want insurance for any other illnesses or accidents that may later occur that is unrelated to the triaditis, I've been impressed with Healthy Paws. I found their rates competitive and they had the best reviews of any company I looked at.

No, I don't know of any that cover pre-existing conditions. However, a friend of mine swears by Pumpkin. One of the things she likes best is the direct-deposit, rapid payment. That can be vital. And you can see any vet in the USA or Canada.

There is some info here about pre existing conditions and pet insurance but I think that you will not qualify now because you will not meet the 12 month clear clause. The second one is not insurance exactly. I have neither but do have three cats insured with another company.
