Pet Food Recall

Regarding the Sierra Foods recall- I notice that Sierra Foods plans to cease doing business with American Nutrition. I think I'd feel better if Natural Balance made a similar statement or made plans to build their own manufacturing plant as Natura is doing. My cats are still eating the NB canned Venison and Pea but I feel more uncomfortable every day as new revelations are made about the pet food industry.

have been doing a lot of research on the pet food recall/poisoning problem and recommend the American Veterinary Medical Association website
http://www.avma.org/aa/menufoodsrecall/default.asp as the most complete, up to date and professional source of information on the problem. Although the url reads "menufoodsrecall/etc. the page is about all recalls, all of them, and it is kept up-to-date.

Could anyone tell me what premium wet foods are not involved with the recall or menu foods? I do apologize, I'm sure this information is in here somewhere. Quickly scrolling through however I didn't see it. Thanks for any assistance.

the is a thread called ... FOODS not made by Menu ...or now American but now it is much shorter

Others less mainstream but as far as I know, not on the recall list include:

Triumph
Optimum Nature's Recipe
most Natural Balance tinned
most Nutro tinned (check dates/types on list)
Purina ProPlan
Trader Joe's store brand
PetGold (Petco's label)
PetGuard
Solid Gold Katz-n-Flocken (dry)
and the supermarket types like:
Fancy Feast
Whiskas
Nine-Lives
Purina

but double-check the listings to be sure. I have seen that not all the vendors have removed the recalled items from their shelves -- so we need to be very careful!

I only put on ones with NO RECALLS or Affiliations... Yes I may miss some Canadian brands... MOST are asking for ones with no Menu or AI affliation... If you want the nearly complete list of foods not recalled regardless PM me

But I just listed IcelandPet by Ifex, By Naturals, and Addiction yesterday...you aren't listing these, do they have an affiliation I don't know about

We should not have been importing this from China - 30-40% of the food stuff on their shelves is contaminated with something and there aren't any standards.

I spent some time at Petcetera here in Victoria, BC. I found three brands of canned cat food that look safe and nutritious. We are tryiing these out - our kitties are not picky and eat anything!
