A small trap like this from WalMart would be large enough for 8 week old kittens:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/OxGord-L...54462&wl11=online&wl12=48095808&wl13=&veh=sem

If you have any outdoor supply or farm&ranch feed stores, they will also carry traps.

You may be able to borrow a humane trap from your local shelter for a refundable deposit.

Or you may have some materials to build a manual drop trap. You do have to be watching. There is a rope tied to the wood holding the trap up which you have to pull for the trap to drop.

If the kittens are still getting most of their food from nursing, that may be why they aren't following her to the food. At eight weeks they should be eating some solid food though.

You might try using stinky wet canned food, or even tuna or sardines to lure them. Some feral rescuers swear by pieces of Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Would you be able to catch the kittens while they play around the rock garden?

No, that won't work. Best we can do is get to about 15 feet away. Then they head into the rock garden crevices. And there is at least three places they can go to stay out of harm's way.

Why not put out some food adjacent to the rock pile to give the kittens a chance with some solid food? Water or KMR?

Good luck on capturing Little Yellow and her kittens!

8PM. LittleYellow update.

Hi to everyone following our Little Yellow story:

Little Yellow and her two babies are still doing good, and staying pretty close by in the rock garden so far today.

We had automobile failure issues today that took away a LOT of time that needed to be devoted to our babies. Such is life. But we have made some progress.

We now have a small trap that we plan to try to capture the two babies with. However we have decided not to rush into the capture until we feel it can be successful. And right now Sheila and I both feel it is too soon to create more drama for them. This is only the first day they have been back home to our rock garden since the drama that happened on the 21st.

We will be issuing updates as ofter as we can manage. So stay tuned.

Regards,
George&Sheila

I'm so glad they're ok! It sounds like you've had a roller coaster week! I agree with others here: you should do whatever you can to get the kitties trapped and stay inside ASAP if you still want to do that. You might not get a second miracle chance! Good luck, and good job looking out for little yellow and kittens!

Hi ArchyCat,
Thanks for your comments. That will be happening soon, when we put a trap for them in place. (See yesterday's 8:pm Little Yellow update)

Hi tinydestroyer, and our other Little Yellow followers:
We plan to use the trap asap. But right now we are getting early rain from the lo pressure system heading our way. So they are staying inside the rock garden tunnels that protect them. And it's likely that the trap will not produce results today. It's out there, just in case. Tomorrow's weather conditions most likely will not work either, as the lo pressure will bring a LOT of rain so the weather man says.
We are keeping our fingers crossed that the rain does not ruin our attempts at rescue.
Regards,
George&Sheila

I don't have a clue as to what is causing that error.
I'll try again: Yesterday's Little Yellow evening update

When it's not raining can you post a picture of your rock garden so we can see where they've been hiding?

Oh ileen,
in the background you can see crosses where we have buried all our cat's that have crossed the rainbow bridge since we moved onto this 10 acres 21 years ago.

Can we get an update, George? How is everyone doing?
Hi ileen and other followers,
All is well with Little Yellow and her babies.
The lousy weather recently has thrown up some roadblocks re the trap attempts.
So far we have not been able to trap either one. This problem is mostly caused by them still nursing, and passing up soft food like Little Yellow likes.

However, for the first time just last night, one of her babies actually ate some food from a bowl that was out for Little Yellow.
So, finally maybe soon the two will start preferring soft food. Should make things easier.
Thanks for everyone's interest!
Regards,
George&Sheila
