Sarthur2 Sarthur2 should I try wiping them with a warm cloth first and see it if helps or just ask for the terramycin? I'll speak with the vet when they have a chance shortly anyway, already sent the email, I'll try calling them again in about half an hour if they've not called me back by then. Thank you so much for the help xx

I am not sure it is infected. The terramycin is a precaution. It is hard to say what causes it. Infection is bacterial though.

OK thank you I will get a clean warm cloth then with clean warm water and wipe the little guys eyes and see if the black comes off. I need to change the towel in the bottom of the wardrobe anyway so I'll go ahead and do that as well. Can discuss with the vet when they call. Thank you so much it's hugely appreciated. xxx

Yes, go ahead and wipe the eyes with a warm damp cloth. I don't know what the black bits are, but they need to be cleaned off. :)

And now I come here every day for the GOOD news! It isn't uncommon for newborns to have a bit of eye infection. I'm sure that Sarthur2 Sarthur2 knows the actual reasons for it, I just know I've seen it time and time again. And they ALL seem to open one eye before (or faster than) the other. They wobble around like drunken pirates for a few days.

Hey Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 yes we are definitely at the drunken pirate stage haha, that's a great way to describe it!! :-) Glad this thread can give some positive news to people reading it, hope that it stays that way. All eyes look good. Vet never called me back but maybe they read the thread and saw it wasn't anything serious, I hope so. Have a great Saturday night xxx

I'm sure they will be fine ! I told hubby about your kittens ! He's always talking about a long haired ginger who's a neighbours cat and sits outside where parks his car ! He's beautiful (the cat not my hubby) and we see everyone who walks past him petting him

Hey daisyd daisyd that's wonderful! :-) Where are you in London? We are in Kensal Rise - you are welcome to come and see them when they get a bit older if you would like to :-) Mama has moved them into a wardrobe in our middle room which is full of stuff so right now they are pretty much sleeping and feeding, with the odd bit of staggering around haha, but I want to have a tidy up! Been busy doing garden stuff which I mosty finished tonight so that's the next job bit by bit, hopefully I can sort things out in here quietly while they are still learning to hear and see and maybe mama will decide to move them again soon!! I've seen her scoping out a few other places lol :-)

They all have amazing personalities and will be super well socialised as we both work from home - when i am in my room which is where the new nest is I literally sit next to them and can't help stroking them A LOT!! The ginger ones are really funny, they both love having their bellies rubbed and have been nuzzling both our hands when we stroke them, they are so sweet!! The 2 female tabby and white ones are equally sweet just a bit more refined much like their mother haha! :-)

I can't see anything up with their eyes now so maybe it was nothing, their squinting is more each day ie they are opening their eyes more each day, it's amazing to see! :redheartpump::redheartpump::redheartpump::redheartpump::redheartpump:

It's going to be super hard to part with any of them, we will just see how things go, my partners mum is definitely having one, other than that there is another maybe 3 people who have expressed some kind of an interest, and we might not be able to part with (any!) one of them, it's really special raising them literally from birth, really hoping everything continues to go well, and they grow up to be super big and strong and healthy and friendly - they have amazing personalities already!

Let me know if you would like to come and see them, send a private message or something if you're not too far away :-) Thank you for taking the time to read my thread and write :-) Have a great weekend :-) xxxx:rock:

That's awesome daisyd daisyd I come to Bermondsey a lot which is walking distance from Tower Bridge :-) Not with the cats though! When we got Mia I had never met any Maine Coons, they are a lot bigger than normal cats, well, they can be, they are bigger framed and Mojo's dad was massive framed, they take a lot longer to grow to their full size, they have REALLY super soft fur, it's special fur that's really thick to keep them warm in winter, it's amazing if you put a drop of water on it it just rolls off - obviously if they get really wet they eventually get wet but they don't hate water like most cats, they are really unique and very intelligent, we have trained both ours to 'give paw' - in exchange for a bit of cheese or a Thrive treat - Mojo does it by default now, Mia is a bit more reluctant lol. They are so adorable! :-) Right, signing off for the day, will post their updated weights tomorrow :-) xxx

Hey everyone,

Here are our weights today :-)

LOL, we had got this really big box something got delivered in and we thought it'd be a perfect bigger nest for Mia and babies. So we put it in the bedroom where the original nest was. It was a bit too wide to fit exactly in one area so there was this other little area maybe 60x40cm behind it.

Around 2.30am Mia decided she wanted to bring all her babies from the wardrobe nest to - no, not the box, that would be too warm, comfy, prepared, cosy and obvious - no, to the cold, hard floor little area BEHIND the box...

so there was a bit of a rush to get them a heating pad under them, Im so glad we weren't asleep by then and heard her doing it as that floor is COLD - even on the rug which she wasn't on it was 22 celcius, floor must be 18 or less, they are nice and cosy now around 30 degrees again, phew :-)

And the lovely huge box nest remains empty, lol.

Sunday 25th 11.50am

Big ginger 1 - 232g - yay up another 15 grams - Sarthur2 Sarthur2 he has already passed his 2 week goal of 228 grams at 8 days :-) Go big ginger!!!:hyper::hyper::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap2::clap2::clap2::redheartpump::redheartpump::redheartpump::redheartpump:

Ginger 2 white neck - 197g - up 10 grams, :woohoo::banana1::banana1::banana1::banana1::banana1: Excellent :-)

Black and white 1 - 199g - up 13grams - really pleased with this too :dance::banana1::banana1::banana1::banana1:

Black and white Survivor no5 - 194g - up 11 grams, back to being the smallest but that's OK, she is still gaining well and looking healthy, and their beautiful little eyes are starting to open, hurrah!! :-) :banana1::banana1::banana1::banana1::banana1::banana1::banana1:

Have a great Sunday everyone :-)

LOL...about the time you decide to take the box to the dust bin, you'll find the family firmly ensconced in it! I don't know how cats know things like that, but they always do!
