Hi guys. Some of you know I was about to work on this projects idea. (From my post about losing Honey last mo.)
Panther has his tree, & a few cardboard scratchers, but still scratches the ottoman. I tried deturing him for a while w/ no avail...so,
I found this roll of stuff to stick to it on temu.
It worked great, but he scratched through to the back of it in a cpl months or more.
I wanted to find an option that hopefully will last longer! So, I ordered some cat post rope from amazon, & another roll of the cat scratcher stuff from temu. This way, it could be underneath, to glue the rope to. Then, in the future, I can always remove it , & my ottoman wouldn't be damaged. Now,all I have left to do is replace the piece of fabric on the bottom. It just had that thin cheap black stuff thats under most furnature, which has torn over time. I've had it for 3 yrs now.
I have the fabric already measured out (just used the iron on hemming tape, for ease, just waiting on a guy friend to staple it on for me, because my hands arent strong enough to do it anymore. I did run out of rope, even though I got a pretty large roll. I got more than half done, so I just cut extra pieces of the scratching material & stuck it (peel off bk) to the front corners where he scratches most.
So, here it is. Some before & after pictures.
Let me know what you think. I guess we'll see how it holds up! 😬🤞🤞
Before, with old roll on it.

Wow, it looks brand new!
Thanks! It was still in pretty good condition.
I just got it 3 christmases ago. The before pic was with the old stick on cat scratch stuff on it. He only had a cpl snags on ea corner, so thats why I wanted to protect it, so he wouldnt ruin it. This way, one day, I can just remove the cat scratch fabric the rope is glued to, & have my ottoman the way it was originally w/o much damage. 🙂
Thus is what I used.

Excellent! I think he approves! That’s a pretty nifty coffee table there too! What a cutie he is.

Thank you! I redid the coffee table too.
I got it at a consignment shop years ago.
It was that orange'y wood, with wood knobs.
I painted it white, & found some nice teal glass knobs at hobby lobby. 😊
The little table between the chair & couch, I found curbside in my parents neighborhood.
It just had one little spot on one of the edges, that my dad had to put a little wood filler, then I painted it as well.
Since we're talking furnature I've made over, I also got a nice jewlery armour from someone on nextdoor for $25!! It was a dark wood, w/ gold painted wooden knobs, so yep, painted that white too, & got some new sparkly knobs from amazon. I think I have. Before picture. I'll try to find it to show the before & after. 😊
Then, the bookshelf I have in the other room was an old scrappy, unfinished wood that we used to keep some backstock on, back when I was a buyer at the natural food coop. Got that for free, & my dad smoothed it out a little, & stained it to match my entertainment center. 😊 I've been pretty lucky with furnature. My entertainment center came from my friend who does my hair. They gave it to me, because they were getting rid of it. I love it! The only thing is, it only fits a 32" tv. Not that I want a huge tv, but a little bigger would be nice. I love it though, so a 32" it is!
