Well, it's turning out that Omen is mischievous as hell! He's learned how to get to the dog and cat food bags in the cupboard! And he's a persistent snot about it, too. I even tied the doors closed, and he removed the tie. He gets into the garbage, and although he's better about waiting for his food, all bets are off if I feed him and Puddles wet food.

Please tell me he'll grow out of some of this... LOL!! I'm going grey(er) dealing with his constant shenanigans!

He will. Maybe not all of his wanting food all the time, I've got one too. Just maybe try to find some low calorie snacks he can have several times a day like thin sliced turkey or chicken breast. or feed him more often with a low calorie, grain free dry kibble. that may fill him up more. Good luck!

I'd get some childproof locks for the cupboard doors he is interested in - also for any cupboards where cleaning supplies/laundry detergents are kept, and any medication cupboards.

Just in case - it's one thing him getting to his food and gorging himself sick, it's another entirely if he gets hold of something toxic or overdoses on some human medication.

I have 2 kittens (7.5months and 6 months) and they are in to everything, it's exhausting :D

In terms of your rubbish bin, they typically find pedal bins a bit more difficult to operate, I've found that useful in keeping active and intelligent destructicats out of the bins!

It doesn't help that they have long slender toes, which makes them better at manipulating and gripping objects with their paws than most cats... :D

Sounds like how Monet used to be. All I can say is.. good luck lol

I used to put a brick at the bottom of the trash can and Bungie cord the lid closed (and it was a heavy metal pedal can too)
I had baby locks on every single cabinets (he figured out the first, had to try again).
I drilled a hook and eye on the pantry door.
I also drilled holes and put a peg in my sliding closet doors where he can't open it either.

Ah you have a Magnus! Magnus broke my first sets of child locks. I now use a strip of fabric tied round the doorknobs.

I will say he did calm down a bit around 2 years old. Like maybe 1%. By 4 its like 15% calmed down BUT I learned the difference between when he needs to play to get energy out and when he's overstimulated and needs help calming down. And he started to learn too so he can a tiny bit come get what he needs rather than be a hellion.
