Taking a moment to bring awareness and promote this all important day as you all well know it is. :hugs: Alley Cat Allies was the first national feral cat advocacy organization and are the ones who created this very special day back in 2001. Those who dedicate their days and nights to helping and caring for feral cats are hero's, to say the least. This world needs so many, many more people like yourselves to step up and do something if even just talking about TNR - bringing attention to the only way that truly works in controlling the feral cat population. There are many organizations throughout the country and would love to hear from you, hear your stories and commend you for the work you do. For those who want to get started, please contact one of your local TNR orgs. in your area, I am sure they would love to have the help. There is such a need in this all-important effort and it takes a village in some situations and in other's just one can make a world of difference. Help spread the word by beginning the conversation with someone and get the ball rolling on behalf of all the feral cat's. ;)

Today I attended a fundraising luncheon for the organization I volunteer for in Illinois. Actually, I am a bit closer to them now since moving to NW Indiana and hope to get more involved over this next year. There are so many differing volunteer opportunities. I am planning to help out with transporting to and from the vet clinic. I have not been involved much these last two years with other things going on in my life that have kept me away. It will be so rewarding for me to help out and support their efforts once again. Since opening in 2007 they have TNRd 5600 cats. Pretty amazing group.:clap::clap:

It breaks my heart to know that there are so many more out there in need. It is pretty astonishing though what one person can do if they put their mind to it, let alone a group of people working toward the same goal. It is something great to be a part of, so worthwhile. If I could have one wish in my lifetime, it would be that everyone, all people, would understand the ramifications of not spaying/neutering, the depth of their lack of responsibility that causes such suffering in these poor cats. I know my wish will never come true, though. The need for TNR groups and the wonderful people who work tirelessly to combat other's careless and heartless treatment of cats, will never end or go away. It will be a battle for a lifetime and beyond. :sigh:

That is just so wonderful that you were able to attend such an event and now will have the time to put your skills to work!  I searched and searched for an event in my area, but came up empty handed.  I know there was one last year, but nothing this year.

My DS goes off to college next year and I will have some time on my hands.  I hope to find an organization to work specifically with TNR.
