I have a foster cat that is nursing 4 week old kittens.  We had to put her on clindamycin because she got mastitis.  Does anyone have any idea how much of the antibiotics transfers to the babies?

That would probably be a question for your vet. I`m sure he wouldn`t but her on something that would harm the kits.

I just had a foster with severe mastitis (it abcessed) Keep a watchful eye on the area.

If it starts to break down, let you vet know.

Cabbage leaf compresses are suppose to be great for mastitis.

Do you mean nursing? I hope she isn't pregnant again! Anyway, apparently clindamycin is the antibiotic of choice for mastitis, even in humans, and it's safe for nursing babies. I don't know about pregnancy safety, but I hope that's just a typo :D.
