Hello, fellow cat lovers. I've had an account for years, and have posted in some forums very occasionally. Now I'm trying to be more social :-) Being retired has been a bit isolating, and I want to "meet" new people. As a cat lover, I figured this was the logical place to start.
I am the servant to 11 cats, ranging in age from 2.5 years to 16 years old. The last 5 cats, the youngest, came from my porch or backyard, usually as I was trying to trap the adults for TNR. Two of them are actually from a litter of 5 I found in a feral house in my backyard (the other 3 were adopted out through a rescue). One of the cats is a "house feral" of 8 years, though until recently she had been coming up to me for petting. We've had a lot of house construction recently, and she unfortunately regressed. I'll work with her this fall when everything is done to hopefully regain her trust.
There are also 5 fixed cats who took up residence on my porch and in the garage. Of course, I feed them and set up cat trees for them. In the winter they have heated houses. Yeah, I'm a cat lady.
I'm married, 30+ years (legal since 2009), and I've turned my wife into a cat person as well. I was a systems engineer and programmer before I retired. Now I spend my time taking care of our clowder and spoiling them rotten.
I live in Iowa (Cedar Rapids), in case anyone lives in the area. I'm happy to be here!
