So I'm new here and I have a problem. Since I couldn't remove any of the kittens my cat had I now have 15. I have noticed that at least one of them has worms. I always have a water dish out that I keep full at all times. Would it be feasible to putthe dewormer in the water dish? I have anxiety and depression really bad and makes it hard to do some of the things I need to do daily. I understand I need to deworm them but my mental issues sometimes makes remembering hard.at this point there is NO WAY I can rehome them aside have grown attached to their unique personalities. I just want to give them the best life I possibly can. Any advice would be greatfuly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi! I have never heard of putting dewormers in the water dish, but, I have known people who care for feral colonies who will sometimes put dewormers in food and try to keep them as separate as possible during that particular meal to ensure everyone gets as much as they need. It's not fail proof (if they're prone to stealing a bite of food from the others, that is!) but it might ensure each cat gets closer to a correct dose.
Anxiety and depression are horrible. It really can make your daily life difficult, I sincerely hope this gets better for you. :hugs:

OK.. I think the advice iPappy iPappy gives is pretty good. It depends on whether the dewormer is a paste or a tablet?

Also, do you need some help working out where to go to get your cats desexed? If will become more and more stressful as they multiply.

I have a good vet where I take them. He is very inexpensive and cares more about animals than money. It's just going to take me a little time to get done what needs to be. He does have to make money to stay open, and I understand that concept. The medicine I have is called worm clear. It's a liquid and says you can put it into water if the kitten is under 1 lb.

That's great, that you have a good vet. They are worth their weight in gold. :)

The trouble with putting it in water is that they must drink it all, and cats rarely do that.
I can't find the worm clear you are talking about as WormClear is only in tablet or pipet form.
Are you talking about the homeopathic Feline Wrm Clear?

Big Red Big Red Are you able to handle the cats and kittens? The most sure fire way to get rid of the worms is to use a product like Profender, that just needs to be applied to the back of the cat`s neck and is effective for 30 days.

You can buy it online from Chewy or Amazon or lots of other sites.

I have 12 cats at the moment, but I used to have more than 20. I used to make a list of their names and tick them off as I dosed each cat, so I was sure that no one got missed.

You can also ask your vet to apply the wormer for you if you have trouble handling them.

Also maybe if you are struggling with which cat got wormed, maybe there is someone whom you trust that might ease the load?

I have no trouble with handling them. The trouble I have is being able to eat or stand up lol

There are people with whom I trust but ptsd and the others "mental issues" for lack of better wording without invasion of my friends privacy when they pur it triggers a negative emotion and I can't have that weight on my shoulders as well.

That's homeopathic.. it may or may not work. If you put it in the water there are definitely no guarantees. And you have to use it over seven days. Is there a specific reason why you would prefer it? Norachan Norachan 's suggestion is a lot easier. :)

I couldn't pass up the price. It was free as it was given to me by a "friend" (I use that term loosely)

What would be the best solution for you Big Red Big Red ?

Would it be better to ask your vet to worm all the cats and kittens for you? Would you be comfortable with a friend or a vet tech or someone who volunteers for an animal shelter coming to your home to do it? Or do you think you`d rather do it by yourself?

Homeopathic remedies are always a bit hiss and miss. I think trying to get all the cats to drink the appropriate amount of water every day for 7 days is going to be really difficult.

Profender is pretty good as it kills several types of parasites in one dose. It comes in different size vials depending on the weight of the cat and there are versions specifically for kittens too. I could help you work out how many vials of what size to order if that would be useful.

To be honest, to do it myself is better for me. The reasoning behind this is because.
I don't want to say it's pride but I have a lot of pride in everything I do. On top of that if I have Someone else do it for me then it's like i'm throwing in the towel... Giving up on the only thing I have left... For me that's not an option. That's why I came to this forum, to get advice on how to better myself for my cats. The way I feel if I can't give them a better life. Than what they could have, then, it's not worth me having them. I should give them up to somebody who can and I can't give them up, EVER. I do want to say thank you to all of you for helping me somebody you don't know, struggling in this situation. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

I can understand that. I think a lot of us here feel the same way you do. Knowing that we are doing our absolute best for these little animals who have come to depend on us so much gives us a sense of pride.

:hugs:

As your kittens are 4 months old it`s safe to use something like Profender on them. The product comes in small vials for cats under 5 kilos, large vials for cats over 5 kilos. The boxes and packets are different colours so you won`t mix them up. I make a list of the cat`s names Big Cats and Little Cats and just tick them off as I dose them. It works on round worms, hook worms and tape worms and kills the eggs and larvae too.
