A Wellington Victoria University researcher is trying to find out how deadly the domestic cat is to native wildlife.

In a joint project with Wellington City Council miniature cameras have been fitted to a group of cats to monitor their behaviour.

After viewing a couple of days of incredibly boring footage of cats prowling and scratching the researcher spots a kill.

One of the cats has caught and eaten a native skink (common small lizard).
