I am going to be picking my new kitten up in 3 weeks, and I can hardly wait. I am getting him from a friend who's cat had kittens, so I know he is coming from a trusted source. However, here is my concern. I have taken a few days off of work, so I can be at home with him to make sure he settles in well (I haven't picked out a name yet), so I will be home with him for 5 days. After that time, I have to go back to work, so he will be at home alone. What would you suggest would be the best things for me to have to ensure he has lots to play with to make sure he does not get bored or lonely while I am not here?

Ideally, the very best thing would be to get 2 kittens, they would keep each other company and play together while you were out!

I agree, but the problem is that I live in a small one bedroom basement apartment, so I really don't have enough space to have 2 cats.
