I'm in the middle of decorating upstairs and I've decided I should treat myself to some new bed linen. The stuff I have now is OK, but it's plain brown and boring. The upstairs of this house is a loft. The ceiling is papered to look like it's wood paneling and the walls were too, until the cats got their claws into it. I've stripped the wall paper off and I'm painting it a very light beige with a matt finish. I think I can be a bit more exciting about the colours of the bed cover.

There are my favourites so far.

These are both 100% cotton. It's 6,000 yen for a double futon cover and two pillow cases. It doesn't come with a fitted sheet, but I found these.

I can buy the sheet separately, so I could get a purple cotton sheet to go with either 1 or 2 above for 4,000 yen. That would be about $90 altogether.

Or, I could get one of these.

7,000 for a futon cover and two pillow cases. I'd still have to buy the sheet separately. I really like the colours, but they're not 100% cotton, they're a cotton/polyester mix. Might be a bit hot in the summer?

Finally there are these.

8,000 yen for a double, 2 pillow cases and a flat sheet. I like the designs, but maybe the colours are a bit too subdued and I can't find out if they're 100% cotton or not.

Which set do you like the best? This is what the loft looked like when we first moved in. It's just about big enough for a double bed, chest and a bunch of cat beds.

I want to say 2, just because I like purple a bit more than blue, but 1 is stunning! I do think you should go with one of the first two that are your favorites anyway.

I think #5 would be cheery in that space, but there's no way I'd go with any polyester in sheets, and yes, definitely hot in Summer.
I'm not fond of dreamcatchers.. really not sure why. Perhaps they've just been commercialised so much. So 1 and 2 are what's left, and mandalas are rather lovely.
I just bought this when it was on super-special.

It's so bright and cheery and the cotton is gorgeous. Also Feline Approved

I think #1 is my favourite of the ones you've posted. I really like the pillow cases of #6, though, but not so fond of the comforter.

I do wonder if they all might be too bold for your loft, as it doesn't appear to very a very large space. But I tend to like more muted colours.

About cotton/polyester mix, that's the type of sheets I use in summer time, and I don't find them too hot. But I've never had 100% cotton sheets, so can't make a comparison.

Just for fun I went onto Amazon Japan, and look what I found. :catman:

Number one. Then go with one of the contrasting colors for the sheets. Go with pale blue and the 'rusty' red for accents around the room., and a couple of throw rugs on each side of the bed. Get some pale, straw yellow 'grasses' with pale blue and a few dark blue flowers inserted in a tall floor vase to lighten it up a little.

I'm torn between 1 and 2, but I think di and bob di and bob is right. If I went with 1 I could get a pale blue sheet and that would look really nice.

So pretty! I really like that.

The store that stock the dream catcher covers also have these! I showed Mr Husband, but he started muttering something about divorce.

Have you ever tried bamboo sheets?
No, never heard of them. I just checked Google and it looks like they do sell them in lots of places, but only in quite plain colours.

I'm afraid Hiro, in my avatar, won't allow me to have plants or flowers indoors. I can get away with cacti, but he puts his paw down at anything else. Flowers in the house are obviously trespassing and must be shredded.

I like seasonal changeovers. In summer I put white or cream colored cotton percale sheets on the bed. Shams are a soft green and white check to match the bed skirt. Thin cotton summer comforter with ribbon embroidery

Flannel sheets in winter, also white or off white, with a more colorful comforter cover for the cozy lamb's wool comforter.

Bedroom is painted green, and there are three skylights as well as windows.

Marimekko is a bed linen brand I really like.
