Hello, I stupidly tried to clean up a stray cat (not knowing it had mange). I got the mites on my clothes. I had a rash, little bumps all over. That's when I looked on the internet and realized it was mange. So now I have spread the mites to my four healthy cats. They don't have mange, the have just been exposed to the mites. I called my Vets office was told I should give my cats Revolution for 6 months. The problem is I am very poor and Revolution for four cats in very expensive. I have read that healthy cats don't usually get mange. I also was researching mange online and read about alternative treatments, apple cider vinegar, coconut oil and diatomaceous earth. The remedies were form people treating their cats who actually had mange. I don't know how reliable that information is. I trust my vet, I'm just wondering if although Revolution is the best way to go, if there might be alternatives, like the natural remedies. I have read that all cats get the mites, it's just when the population gets too high and the cats are unhealthy that it is a problem. but another web site said that it is highly contagious... I hope someone here has some experience and can give me some sage advice.
