Make lunch.
Do my dishes hour.
Coffee & phone break.
Make Dinner.
Do my dishes hour again.
Phone & kitty hour- Facebook, Texts, Emails.
Bed.

I forgot, I do scoop the kitty potties about 6 to 8 times per day. Hey, I got 6 little poopin machines! Used to only scoop twice a day when it was just Demi & Maggie.

Overcast and rather windy day.

Used hand truck to individually move three large pots and then their tire-with-rim stands from in front of garage around back of house and placed on ground along deck. Now if we get significant snow it can be plowed / shoveled away from close to garage doors.

Some time ago I had told intermittent handyman to move some large empty pots over to tool shed. He did do that, but just stacked them - open side up - at corner of shed. So when I was putting hand truck away in tool shed I dealt with them more appropriately.

Also the usual events - straighten out bedding, feed cats multiple times / day, feed us multiple times / day, scoop litter pan multiple times / day etc

I stayed up last night, watching Twilight Zone, until 2:30 this morning.
  • Breakfast for the girls, made our coffee, and went back to bed.
  • Put the pork and sauerkraut in the crockpot. Dinner around 4:00 or so.
  • My sister and BIL got home last night from visiting their kids. They came over this morning and helped finish the cheesecake and the peanut butter mousse pie. They took cookies home.
That‘s pretty much my day.

  • I scooped the boxes this morning while Rick was in the basement.
  • We are working on taking down holiday decorations and, in some cases, putting up a few winter-themed things. Everything is down and put away, except the living room tree and my Winterberry dishes. Taking down the tree is almost an all-day job in itself.
  • A good vacuuming throughout.

My computer savvy friend came over today to create two 2025 files on my blog.

I made lunch for the three of us - chicken bites in the air fryer, instant mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli. Dessert - before he got here I sliced a small loaf of fruitcake, made rounds using a cat food can (of course it was well washed ) and iced with confectioners sugar and brandy.

It has been cold. I have been assiduously stuffing firewood in the wood burning stove. Called neighbors and their son will come over tomorrow to refill the basement wood rack which is already at least half empty.

Speaking of which I had better bring up another couple of buckets of firewood before I go to bed.

Light coating of snow, very fine flakes. Finishing about 2:00 p.m.

Stripped sheets off bed,, washed, dried. Hey, it is Monday.

UPS came up the driveway with three boxes, each holding one 35-lb tub of kitty litter. Nicely placed in front of my garage door, on nice bare dry concrete. They have been moved into garage, litter transferred to tubs with the completely removable lids (they come in those tubs with the hinged lids which I do not like as well.) Need to move them into basement. Boxes flattened. Now need to A) email woman who wants the empty tubs. She's been coming for several years, every time I have them for her. Wonder what she does with them . . . And B) email friend with the exemplary vegetable garden to see if she wants the cardboard. Spring will come, eventually. Right?

It is cold, I'm grumpy, and today

Original handyman coming over. I'll have him clear the pristine snow covered front walk and shovel down the tire tracks on driveway. Then he can move firewood from basement upstairs, also outside into basement.

Woman is coming to pick up 3 empty kitty litter tubs.

Received invitation to granddaughter's bridal shower in February but I don't see making a day trip from New Jersey to Massachusetts. Will send my regrets.

Himself is having medical issue which I will not go into details. What I can say is he has difficulty sleeping at night. Wishing for answers / solutions.

C catapault Hope it's nothing serious with your husband.

It's flippin' cold here, too. I am not amused.
  • My turn to get up with the girls for their breakfast and to make the coffee. It's also my turn to scoop the boxes.
  • We got a Chewy order yesterday for food for the girls. They're now on Fancy Feast full time. I got all the boxes together, broke them down, and Rick took them to the basement for recycling.
  • 3 loads of laundry, including a load of dirty sheets from changing the bed yesterday.

I am glad you finally got a 'helper'. Hope this one is much better than the last couple you had..

As for your eyes.. I had a partial detachment on each eye, which healed naturally. I did see a lot of floaters, but never thought much of it. Many nearsighted people, with fairly strong prescriptions can have thinning of the retina, which can cause a 'leak'.. It is as if your eye is being stretched in one direction, (heightwise) causing a tear. If you see more floaters get to the doctors immediately. I was told that if I see flashes of light, extra floaters, or like a spray of pepper in my eye, to immediately call and go in to be seen. I know of a few people who have had surgery for it..
good luck..

Winchester Winchester and Mia6 Mia6 Thank you both for your good wishes. The difficulty breathing that sent us racing to the ER early in December and early in the morning (great time to go, no traffic and I just ran the red lights) turned out to be viral pneumonia. And there is nothing to be done for that, just wait for body to heal itself. Four to 6 weeks. And we're there.

His issue that sent him to the urologist two weeks ago - less said the better. Follow up visit in another week. Ah the joys of aging.

Meanwhile I move firewood from basement to stove-side wood rack, get one or the other helper to fill the big rack in the basement as needed, and otherwise cope with whatever needs dealing with.

We both have a visit scheduled at our local pharmacy for Shingrix vaccinations next Wednesday. Something to check off the list before who knows what will happen with availability of vaccinations after January 20.

I’m glad he’s ok, C catapault . Grab the vaccines while you still can.

Mia6 Mia6 Glad you have a good helper!
  • We have not been doing much of anything the last couple of days. We took Mollipop to her vet appt. They’re doing a full blood/urine/fecal panel and we should know the results on Wednesday. She is about 5.5 pounds, so she’s lost 1/2 pound in six months. And she used to weigh 8 pounds. I’m worried. I hope it’s thyroid if it’s anything. I couldn‘t handle cancer.
  • I sorted laundry to do tomorrow.
  • Did the litter boxes.
As I said, it’s been a slow couple of days.

  • Our Miss Pop is an expensive little girl. Her results show that, yes, it is a thyroid problem. The hospital sold us enough Felimazole tablets to see us through for a little over a week. Came home and ordered a prescription for Methimazole, which is a transdermal med that we can put into her ear. Much better than trying to pill this girl! She did eat 1/2 can of FF Medley; it was a chunky type and she scarfed it down, including the wee little pill. Other than her thyroid, she is a healthy girl...no diabetes, no cancer, nothing like that. She goes back to the vet in 2-3 weeks for more blood work to see how things are going.
  • While we were out and about, we hit Target for meds for Dear Richard, Dicks for a pair of insulated pants for him, and then Giant for unsalted chicken stock.
  • The first of two loads of laundry is in the washer.
Rick bowls tonight, so I'm going to bed early with my iPad and will watch a bit of television. I still have to pull up Prime and MAX on the new bedroom tv and also put MAX on the tv in the living room.

I guess it is good its thyroid not something else. Up until one of are cats got immune mediated hemolytic anemia my husband thought the hyperthyroid diagnosis we had for a cat was the worst. Not by far unfortunately. I would not wish IMHA one anyone. I hope you see good results with Miss Pop soon. Our first cat took the pills fine.I wonder about the transdermal route as pilling Izzy is also really difficult if she were to get a thyroid issue or anything else for that matter. Hyperthyroid definitely had its issues though mine had a kidney issue with it.

Ugh.. wrote an entire response and then deleted it!!

I am so glad it is thyroid instead of anything else. You much be so relieved!

I gave Geoffrey transdermal mirataz. He was so good about it.
I rotated the ear, daily. Do not forget to wash down the medication from the ear, due to a buildup.

What I did was take a tiny cup, filled with warm water. I used two cotton balls, kind of stretched out in order to make it thinner and easier to use. I dipped it in the warm water, squeezed out the extra; then wiped down the ear which had the medication. I dried it with the other cotton ball. Then I applied the daily dose to the opposite ear, which was cleaned the day before. I was so lucky that Geoffrey was so good about taking medication. He trusted me. Sometimes he got antsy, but I was able to still get the meds in him...

Good Luck.. ((((hugs))))
