  • This past week, we worked on decorating for Christmas. We finally finished, other than hanging the stockings. And the Tacky White Tree is in the kitchen! I finished it this afternoon. Finally got the Halloween yard flags down and put the Christmas ones up. Took me long enough.
  • New flannel sheets and comforter came yesterday, so I changed bedsheets this afternoon.
  • I made cookie dough--just chocolate chip and snickerdoodles/Hollidoodles. Hoping to get time to bake them tomorrow.

Miscellaneous errands this morning. Yesterday at my aunts I started to take out an appliance that was sitting in by her door and meant for the garbage. We have have been walking around it for months now and just never got around to hauling it to the outside trash pile. When I picked it up I realized it was a Tfal air fryer - pretty greasy and dusty but seems to have all its parts so I brought it home to clean up and try out. It’s been soaked, scrubbed and on its third trip thru the dishwasher today. It will either be clean and used tomorrow or in the trash.

Aunt’s monthly accounting entries and bill pays this morning. When I finished I got throw rugs pulled and washed and washed bathroom and living room floors while I was waiting for the rugs to dry. Picked up aunt’s mail from the post office and now a stack of new items to be taken care off. Started a “I‘ll do it tomorrow“ pile.

Am I going crazy? Probably yes. Thursday last week we made a 4:30 a.m. drive to the ER. Himself had trouble breathing and a very high heart rate. Empty roads so I just blasted through red lights. He got oxygen, medications, a X-ray machine wheeled right to bedside for EKG. Admitted to cardiac wing after shift change at 8:00 a.m. Where he was seen by cardiologist, a trio of women doctors. Had a cardiac ultrasound - also with a bedside machine. Allowed home about 7:30 p.m.

He saw his cardiologist on Tuesday. I stayed home - unhappy about that - as new Maytag refrigerator we bought on Black Friday was being delivered simultaneously with time of his appointment.

Today he has an appointment with his GP.

Pastor from United Methodist church is coming with some strong young men and a truck to get the 3 year old LG refrigerator that I really do not like but was the only thing I could get in the throes of covid-19 in December 2021 when the old refrigerator died. Pastor will use it with their food bank / pantry. Told pastor they need to come 15 minutes earlier than we agreed as I am going with Himself to doctor appointment and no I am not leaving the garage open as that allows access to house, as well as everything in garage.

So am I crazy? Somewhat. But I think it's understandable, and allowed.

Yes, totally allowed. Having a loved one ill is enough in itself to send you there. Hope everything checks out okay and that new fridge is absolutely fabulous.

C catapault I am sorry you are having a very difficult time. No you are definitely not crazy. This has been a difficult year for a lot of people it seems. A year if it can go wrong it will. I won't be sorry to see the year it the rearview mirror. That being said I am fully aware things can always get worse. My mom used ' things can't get worse then this' I used to tell please don't tempt things. I hope your husband's condition improves quickly and there are better days ahead.

Washed all of Izzy's blankets and bed again plus other things has that drip from her eye was over everything.

Took Izzy to the vet. She has an eye infection. Prednisolone does lower immunity so vet thought that has caused it as she is not around around other cats. Vet also upped her asthma maintenance inhaler dosage. Never had this vet before but was very impressed. She had no interest in putting her on daily prednisolone as has been mentioned by other vets if maintenance inhaler is not enough. I like the possibility of upping her maintenance inhaler at this time of year as this is the only time she has any issue

Did dinner
Will need to do eye ointment on Izzy. We will be using the calm and cozy cat wrap I bought her just for this type of thing, less stress for her and us.

Domino and Mr Poe had their annual vet visit for checkup and vaccination this morning. It is the only time they leave the house so always a struggle. I managed to confine both of them in the downstairs bathroom but Domino got out before I could shut the door. Finally tracked him down upstairs, managed to scruff him, grab him, hold him as I went downstairs, got him in the bathroom and shut the door. Retrieved the carriers from the basement, boxed each cat and off we went.

Domino fouled himself going there (8 miles) they cleaned up carrier and wiped him down. He messed again coming home.

So we were off, there, home again in one hour. Domino quickly settled down, napped in the bed under a table near the wood burning stove. Even had some food. Mr Poe finally showed up a few minutes ago, 8 hours after we got back home. Domino ate some more but Mr Poe is again invisible.

Oh well. He'll be back to his sweet self by tomorrow.

They are both in good health, I'm happy to report. It was 15 years ago that I got them as kittens at this very vet hospital.

My sympathy to poor Domino. My former girl, Murphy, always puked in her carrier and also either peed or pooped as well and then seemingly rolled in it all. She always needed a wipe down at the vet and again at home.

Thank you for your kind words, susanm9006 susanm9006 I'm happy to report that Mr Poe has reappeared. Of course he still has me on tenterhooks as he will walk over to his food dish, sniff at the food, then walks off. At least he is not doing the scratch and bury with disgust. Time will tell when he is ready to eat.

Edit: As we know cats have servants. Himself and I are finishing off the beef barley vegetable soup with toast, for our supper.. Poe seemed interested in mine. I shredded a cube of the beef and he gobbled it down. Shredded a second cube and ditto. I'll have the remaining broth, barley, and a toasted bagel. All is good.

This week was a little hectic for us. I had medical stuff going on Mon, Wed, and Friday. My nephrologist is pleased; I'm remaining very stable with blood work and my kidneys continue to improve slowly.
On Thursday night, my sister and BIL picked us up and we drove through a local amusement park that was decorated for the holidays. It was really pretty and we enjoyed the sights.

I've been having problems with the tv in the bedroom; it's an old (about 15 years old) JVC tv. We suspected it was the tv throwing fits, but I called the cable company on Thursday and made an appt to have the cable checked. They came up Friday afternoon and the cable is fine. They did give us a new cable box and HDMI cables. But the problems are still there, so we are shopping for a new tv. We have Samsung in the living room and out in the Shed, so we'll probably go with another Samsung for the bedroom. The JVC was around 47 inches; I think we'll go with either a 55-inch or maybe splurge on a 65-inch. (I will say that our cable company is really good with customer service. I called them Thursday morning, they made the appointment for 1:00 Friday afternoon and they showed up right at 1:00.)

We changed the girls over to Fancy Feast and Purina ProPlan. They had gotten to the point where they outright refused to eat Friskies Buffet anymore. They would rather starve. We switched them over and they're cleaning their plates again.
  • Rick got up with girls this morning. Molli came back to bed after breakfast and we lounged until 9:00.
  • I have two loads of laundry to do today. And must change the bedsheets.
  • A quick vacuum and swiffer and that will be my day.

So Himself has been having issues with painful urination. Got a call this morning from our health center to come in this afternoon for another urine test as the results from last Thursday were a little high in one parameter.and they want to make a comparison. I just about grabbed the phone from his hand. told them he had painful urination that's been going on for at least five days. Another test this afternoon means lab results won't be available until Monday and that is unacceptable.

Could we be there to see a doctor in 15 minutes? No, how about 30 minutes. Dressed, fed cats, put out bird feeders and got there on time.

Net result - Himself is now on an antibiotic for bladder infection and needs to drink much more water. They drew blood and he also provided another urine specimen. Once home I put a pitcher with 40 oz of water (lower end of desired range) on his desk.

Oy.

Hang in there. You are doing a really amazing job of being his advocate, it is something that many of us don't do enough. I know how stressful this must be. Doesn't help during this time of year with the holidays.I swear it is more difficult to get medical appointments . Hopefully things improve for you both.

Put Italian food on early this morning. Baked a couple batches of cookies. Put in a load of laundry.

Izzy keeping me company while I bake. Her eye is doing better but still dripping some. She has only had four doses of the eye ointment and antibiotics so far
