I am probably behind everyone but I am taking down Thanksgiving stuff and putting out Christmas.
Yes, totally allowed. Having a loved one ill is enough in itself to send you there. Hope everything checks out okay and that new fridge is absolutely fabulous.Am I going crazy? Probably yes. Thursday last week we made a 4:30 a.m. drive to the ER. Himself had trouble breathing and a very high heart rate. Empty roads so I just blasted through red lights. He got oxygen, medications, a X-ray machine wheeled right to bedside for EKG. Admitted to cardiac wing after shift change at 8:00 a.m. Where he was seen by cardiologist, a trio of women doctors. Had a cardiac ultrasound - also with a bedside machine. Allowed home about 7:30 p.m.
He saw his cardiologist on Tuesday. I stayed home - unhappy about that - as new Maytag refrigerator we bought on Black Friday was being delivered simultaneously with time of his appointment.
Today he has an appointment with his GP.
Pastor from United Methodist church is coming with some strong young men and a truck to get the 3 year old LG refrigerator that I really do not like but was the only thing I could get in the throes of covid-19 in December 2021 when the old refrigerator died. Pastor will use it with their food bank / pantry. Told pastor they need to come 15 minutes earlier than we agreed as I am going with Himself to doctor appointment and no I am not leaving the garage open as that allows access to house, as well as everything in garage.
So am I crazy? Somewhat. But I think it's understandable, and allowed.
My sympathy to poor Domino. My former girl, Murphy, always puked in her carrier and also either peed or pooped as well and then seemingly rolled in it all. She always needed a wipe down at the vet and again at home.Domino and Mr Poe had their annual vet visit for checkup and vaccination this morning. It is the only time they leave the house so always a struggle. I managed to confine both of them in the downstairs bathroom but Domino got out before I could shut the door. Finally tracked him down upstairs, managed to scruff him, grab him, hold him as I went downstairs, got him in the bathroom and shut the door. Retrieved the carriers from the basement, boxed each cat and off we went.
Domino fouled himself going there (8 miles) they cleaned up carrier and wiped him down. He messed again coming home.
So we were off, there, home again in one hour. Domino quickly settled down, napped in the bed under a table near the wood burning stove. Even had some food. Mr Poe finally showed up a few minutes ago, 8 hours after we got back home. Domino ate some more but Mr Poe is again invisible.
Oh well. He'll be back to his sweet self by tomorrow.
They are both in good health, I'm happy to report. It was 15 years ago that I got them as kittens at this very vet hospital.
Hang in there. You are doing a really amazing job of being his advocate, it is something that many of us don't do enough. I know how stressful this must be. Doesn't help during this time of year with the holidays.I swear it is more difficult to get medical appointments . Hopefully things improve for you both.So Himself has been having issues with painful urination. Got a call this morning from our health center to come in this afternoon for another urine test as the results from last Thursday were a little high in one parameter.and they want to make a comparison. I just about grabbed the phone from his hand. told them he had painful urination that's been going on for at least five days. Another test this afternoon means lab results won't be available until Monday and that is unacceptable.
Could we be there to see a doctor in 15 minutes? No, how about 30 minutes. Dressed, fed cats, put out bird feeders and got there on time.
Net result - Himself is now on an antibiotic for bladder infection and needs to drink much more water. They drew blood and he also provided another urine specimen. Once home I put a pitcher with 40 oz of water (lower end of desired range) on his desk.
Oy.
