Today I had an ultrasound to check on the progress of my IVF process. I am scheduled for the egg retrieval on Thursday. I have to give myself the trigger shots in half an hour and I'm nervous about the inter-muscular one because the needle is huge.
I also worked my regular day and then after work I took my dogs for a walk around the wildlife preserve behind my house. I also met with a YouTuber via Zoom to be on her show in the next few months to talk about my time being mute as a kid.
I hope you did okay with that needle. A lot for you to have to go thru but will be worth it.

Sweeping and vacuuming in basement. Moved two largest pots from garage to basement. Last largest one is in tool shed. Would like to deal with it today but my back is sore. Let the acetaminophen have a chance to work and we'll see. Today. Or tomorrow.

Defrosted small refrigerator that was very seriously iced up. Sliced and sauteing about 2 pounds of chicken in the woods mushrooms. Will package in small quantities for the big freezer. Stripped meat off rotisserie chicken, into refrigerator for . . . some other meal(s). Bones and skin gently simmering, to become stock - will add onion, carrots, etc in about an hour or 90 minutes.

It was a lot easier than I was thinking it would be. I didn't feel it at all.

I had my egg retrieval yesterday though and they got 31 eggs which is almost double what is considering a good amount. They called me today to say that 24 of those eggs were mature enough to fertilize and 18 of those were formed into embryos. The numbers will dwindle as the days go on, but 18 at this stage is amazing and a really good sign.

Glad things are going so well for you. I am happy for you...

I am a retired ultrasound tech, specializing in high risk pregnancies-- MFM.... Please be watchful and ask, how many embryos they will transfer. While the success rate at transfer is so-so, I do not want you to have a uterus full of multiples which you may not be able to carry full term. I have seen a lot of 'multiples' and a lot of heartache from transferring a massive amount of embryos... Just saying this from my 34 years of experience with fertility doctors.
Wishing you the best.. :heartshape:

I think I am going to have a quiet indoor day today. I have a ton of my and my aunt’s paperwork that needs to be gone thru and the house is a bit of a wreck. I have a delivery of a new video camera coming today from Amazon and I will at least get it set up on Wifi today. It’s going to go on the back porch to replace the useless Wyze cam.

Himself unloaded the firewood remaining in the rack inside the basement. Repaired the bottom (no doubt happened from moving it, full of firewood, when the crew installed the French drains, then moved it back a week later.) Split a cart's worth of firewood, loaded into rack, then re-stacked the older firewood which fill the rack. Of course we are now supposed to get some 70+ degree Fahrenheit weather.

Meanwhile I moved three 4-wheel garden carts worth of potted plants from garage to shelves in basement where they will sleep away the winter. Cut off leaves - figure it has been so dry, some leaves yellowing, might as well. One more cart, maybe a little more and I'll be done. Yesterday we did get the three biggest pots dealt with.

Drove to the bottom of the driveway with a tub full of trimmings and other garden debris which got dumped in the compost bin. Dug three large tubers of voodoo lily, Sauromatum. They go dormant with just a kiss of frost. Need to get peat moss to pack them up for indoor storage over the winter. There are a few more voodoo lilies in other tire planters. I'm pleased with the size the tubers put on over the summer.

Took some cuttings from a false dayflower, Tinantia pringlei at the bottom of the driveway. Call it insurance - it's wintered over before but that doesn't mean it always will do so.

Load of laundry washed and dried, need to fold but it is easy, towels and blue jeans. About to bake a tray of chocolate chip cookies (they seem to disappear).

And just sit for a bit.

On Thursday, Rick and I went down to the apple orchard. Grannies were in the bins. We got a nice assortment of apples for pies and sauce. And a ton of Grannies for apple dumplings. It came out to 60 pounds of apples. I'll start on applesauce on Tuesday.
  • One load of laundry
  • Made two apple pies for the freezer, one a Dutch apple crumb and the other a two-crust. And then I threw together a pan of apple crisp.
  • I threw together enough dough disks to make 6 apple dumplings tomorrow morning.

Most doctors will only transfer one embryo and are highly against more than one. They may do more than one if the quality of the embryos isn't great though, but I'm not expecting that to be a huge issue for me.

Went to do my usual Monday volunteering, but part of the building was flooded after Friday's storm, so wasn't able to do what I usually do (P&D were pleased, since it meant I was home much earlier). Nipped down to Leopold to get a shoe storage hanger (the pocket thingies you hang on the door), some shoe polish and a frozen lasagne in case tonight's rissoles turn out to be indelibly peppery like last time. Hung the door hanger and now have a bit more space in my wardrobe than before. Lunch is over and ai can get back to my knitting.

Used a kitchen knife to wiggle out the stuck bits of sawdust in between the decking planks.
Collected a huge amt of sungold tomatoes & did my first attempt at saving seeds from the runner beans.
Washed windows & hung something in front of them so birds don't fly into them.

Put together the cat tree today. Oy..., I have to take it apart and put it together PROPERLY in the next few days as everything is topsy turvy. Cats love it tho. :)

Have to bring garbage out. Always exciting.

Then have to bring out huuuuuge boxes from Amazon to dump in the recycling bin. Might do this over several days to save my sanity.

I spent most of the day yesterday fiddling with the new Tapo camera - hanging, reading instructions, looking online because I couldn’t figure out the instructions etc. I have to pick up a new SD card for it today since it didn’t like the old and then rehang it. The cool but sort of creepy thing about this camera is that it auto tracks when it senses motion, so as you are moving in the yard the camera is moving to follow you. I think that definitely would deter a burglar.

Its going to be another beautiful day today and I will probably get some of the taller perennials cut and into the bin

Took Izzy to the vet . She has been having issues with her asthma that were not being handled by her maintenance meds or her rescue med. First time she has had a issue in a very long time. So she had to take some oral steroids for a time. Fortunately x ray looked good and she has been doing better for a couple of days.

Did three loads of laundry and got it put away. Wrote a shopping list while wash was getting done.
Sat with Izzy before starting dinner prep.

A friend came for a visit yesterday and updated a program on my computer. We had a very nice lunch - homemade chicken stock from rotisserie chicken's carcass, with onion, carrots, celery, strained. Heated stock with mini wontons as first course. Then rice, poached shrimp, sauteed chicken of the woods mushrooms. Plus I made a plum cake for our dessert. Anyhow he just sent an email about a program about 18th century food preservation next Saturday. So that will be one of my three things next Saturday.

Today I moved the remaining plants in pots from garage to basement, and parked my car back in the garage.

Bed sheets went from swishing around in washing machine into the dryer, which has beeped to indicate they are done and dry. Another load swishing around in washing machine.

Goingt off to the Sergeantsville feed and grain for several items I am hoping they stock.

And that's several things of what's up for today.
