My tasks (hardly worthy of the name) today were to tell the village manager, my coordinator at the neighbourhood house, and my knitting group that I've got the dreaded lurgi. Glad I couldn't go to work (volunteering), they had a gastro outbreak there last week, the coordinator herself was off for four days!

Good news is I rang Mum's nursing home just now, and it sounds like she's already getting better. She had a mild fever on Friday, but none now (day four is usually when it gets worse, too), she's eating and drinking well and her blood sugars are fine. Sounds like we both had very mild cases, which is a relief.

Now to get back to my knitting, though where those supurrvisors are I don't know ...

Domino update for Kwik Kwik

So yesterday Domino ate breakfast and threw up. Re-fed and he kept it down. Ate lunch. Was reluctant to eat dinner so I added a few shreds of chicken. He ate. And vomited. Re-fed. Ate bedtime meal, no "returns"

This morning he was eager for breakfast, ate, no return. A passing indisposition? Perhaps.

So far this morning I stripped our bed sheets and started washing.
Put out bird feeders. Fed cats. Made coffee (which I am now slowly consuming.)
Need to - at some point - put all the extra bed pillows in the closet.
But before I get to the pillows we will be - what else - moving a cart of firewood.

And then see what else the day brings.

Possibly- When did that start happening,if I may ask? I do hope it has passed if it was an " indisposition"🤞No doubt you'll be monitoring Domino closely...... uhhh cats,,they surely keep us on our toes,no relaxing is there?

Drives me insane to find vomit and not know who's it was with 5 of them- such a worry all the time...it can be very stressful

Sending good vibes to Domino:petcat:and prayers for good heath, perfect health😻

Discovered yesterday that my water heater was leaking - a death sign. On the phone this morning to get a plumber in to replace it. This week is busy with aunt stuff and appointments so scheduled him for next Monday and fingers crossed I have hot water until then. I started doing a clothes shuffle yesterday afternoon, moving summer clothes around to make room for fall and winter. I need to finish that today.

Many of you know how computer savvy I am:flail:So,trying to figure out what the heck to do to connect Roku to internet was a big deal for me ...I did not want to disconnect my cable only to find out I hate Roku and miss cable so for the past couple of days my 3 things were :

Move my bedroom cable box to the front room as I originally had 3boxes,the front room was the first to go to try to decrease my Comcast bill.....so #1 have cable TV in front room

#2- get the Roku stick figured out for my bedroom( where I took the box from)

#3- Figure out TV plus in the living room so I could remove the voice/DVR cable box from there as well

I was going insane just having moved one lil box from one room to another and it would not load - welcome, welcome, welcome for half an hour - another half hour trying to get a person at Comcast ,then an hour on the phone with some moron who knew less than me!!!!

Anyway the agent made my final decision quite sinple- I want NEVER to be on the phone with Comcast again- I then hung up on her, ripped out the box ,threw it in a bag and went into my bedroom!

Then I noticed " Roku' on the front of my TV----- geez that was simple to go to settings on that TV & bam it asked me what I wanted - done,Roku!

Next, back in the front room cause I didn't need the Roku stick in my bedroom and bam- Roku in the front

Finally figured out the living room as well only now I'm thinking about how much data streaming will use and have to figure out what I'll need when I drop off these darn boxes and disconnect cable!

Calling AT & T today, might not even continue using XFinity wifi, hate that Company- we shall see!

You know that if you have a Xfinity/Comcast cable box on one TV you can use your Roku stick to watch live Xfinity TV on another? You just need to select the Xfinity app on the stick and you can get live TV.

I didn't know that BUT the cable is just too expensive-I pay over $200 dollars and can cut that in half with just internet- I basically watch movies movies movies and Bravo TV & few other live TV

I'm not ready to disconnect yet though cause I'm afraid I might not be happy with less, like recording the things I do like live etc so it's good to know for the time being- thank you

So does the live TV apps use data? Do you know about that stuff?

Rick got up with the girls this morning, so I slept in until 9.
  • One load of laundry is washed, dried, folded and put away.
  • The peppers are done and in the freezer, until Rick brings down another batch from the garden.
  • He was finally able to bring down a bunch of tomatoes from the garden. I made a batch of tomato sauce and will use it tomorrow to make pasta sauce.
  • Tonight is an exercise night.

Hey, Kwik Kwik here's Domino, Act II

Having eaten his breakfast just fine Domino - after scurrying toward the kitchen - would not eat his lunch. Mind you, he is not doing the "I'm burying this disgusting food" dance, just staring at it. And Mr Poe is gobbling the other half of the 3 ounce can down with no hesitation.

So after thinking about this while staring at the can with the fuchsia color label (beef) I dumped what was in Domino's dish, rinsed it out, and instead gave him half a can of the orange (turkey and giblets) which he gobbled straight away.

I have come to the conclusion that A) Domino has decided he no longer likes beef. (He is now Hindu?) B) Need to see if he will also eat yellow label Tiny Tiger (chicken). That leaves C) What do I do with the remaining 4 boxes of mixed TT pate. There is C-sub 1 Domino no longer wants to eat this flavor OR C-sub 2 the possibility that there is something about the beef in this particular case - which Mr Poe continues to enthusiastically eat.

Have to see if Domino eats the beef in the next case I open.

It is certainly an option to revise my auto-ship order to 3 cases of chicken and 3 cases of turkey, rather than the 6 cases that have a mix of three flavors. But then they'd both be eating several days of a single flavor (24 cans of chicken followed by 24 cans of turkey with giblets) rather than the mix of 1-2-3-1 each day. Two cans per cats = 4 cans/day

Or, continue with the mix but make sure Mr Poe gets all the beef.

Picky cat. I shall expect a generous bonus at the end of the year.

Today is an "ugh" day...
up early for doctors appointment..
Took Uber since it was early and on the other side of Boston.... long ride
got there early, then had to sit and wait for doctor...
Got stiff from sitting..
Walked over to Wegmans-- walked around the store and bought a few premade goodies for me--- EXPENSIVE!
Uber back--- another hour's ride.. stiff again!
Home, on line--- having an iced coffee and a couple of chocolate chip cookies!

Tired today. Probably from all the work I did yesterday and the sitting I did today...
Another 'ugh'----- after I did so much cleaning in the bedroom, I found SAND on the mirror!! This is what I get for living right on the beach!! and having the window opened a bit all day and night... sigh

Tomorrow will be busier!

It is streaming so it probably does use data. But I am not sure of that. Just an FYI for others, Amazon fire stick also works to get Xfinity, as long as you have at least one cable box.

Oh gee- I guess he's Hindu now, lol. Keep that mixed case before you start making changes since MrPoe seems like hell gobble up anything - I think it's better the 1-2-3-1 option but then your going to have a lot of beef leftover so maybe get a case of chicken ,a case of turkey plus the case of mixed maybe every other order ( for Poe since he's the only one eating the beef) make sense?

Hmmm,I think I should go to the Xfinity store and talk with someone to figure out how much data I'll need( cause they are limited with higher speeds for streaming). And I can discuss one little basic cable box maybe---- Im so confused but at least I'm gradually getting that bill down

Thank you for that info, really helpful

I am semi-ok with computer stuff, but cable things get to me. I get frustrated very quickly. Xfinity/Comcast is the worst to deal with.
I have an Amazon Firestick. I think they have an agreement with Xfinity to limit the news apps for Xfinity customers. I have successfully uploaded the MSNBC and the CNN apps but are limited, due to my subscription with Xfinity as my service provider. The Live telecast is limited to 20 minutes! I am furious over this!! This is one of the reasons why I bought the FireStick!

All plans were well over $250... So, I thought that by getting the Firestick, and not have an exact service plan. I could cut my bill.. Nope. Does not work that way!!
Yes, I am without a plan. I get nothing for good channels, but at least I have access to the local live broadcasts.

I expect it would be the same with Roku.
Also, Check to see about how much it would cost to purchase each APP you would like from Roku.
I also do a lot of DVR recording, and I like the opportunity of freezing a live broadcast-- as in rewinding to get a certain point or to freeze the image. I cannot do that with the Firestick, as with the Pluto app. Something to think about.

Exactly- I like the features of the DVR smart box too only Im not big on much besides live broadcast but only watch msybe 4 channels for the same reasons plus I do tons of recording as well, like you . Now if I leave it as is ,Ive gotten down to $186 from $280. so far....the Roku will allow me to have the same in the other 2 rooms so now I'm very reluctant to give up the box until I know exactly what I'm doing here- don't want to be stuck with just the 2,Rokus and one TV plus with no on Demand or functions

I'm not getting on the phone again with Comcast,my knees & hands were literally shaking after TWO hours .... I planned to go in person today but I went grocery shopping and now I'm exhausted, they had no scooters available so I walked the entire store'-too much,I only had one knee done, lol

Maybe tomorrow,I'll let you know what I find out, if anything ( they are morons,I think it's a job requisite for Comcast):gaah:

Yup, and depending on which store, there is a very nasty person in charge! One time I went, I was more confused and did not get what I set out to get... The next time I went, on the advice of a 'friend' to a different store. There was a very mean and nasty person in charge.. Thank Goodness I got a young, semi-inexperienced kit, who was kind and patient. The Nasty woman in charge was giving him looks and making snide comments to the rest of the staff! But, I knew I needed to reduce my charges..So I asked about not signing a contract with them! That is what I miss, but in order to obtain CNN and MSNBC, I would have to get the 'sports' plan--- which I am not interested in.. All Xfinity provides, as live news stations are all the FOX channels, and the 'other' stations.. absolutely ridiculous!!

I also do not have a phone with them.. I do not trust them. I would rather have my own phone, with my own company.

I was really tired today; I don't know why. And I didn't get much done.
  • I turned the tomato sauce I made yesterday into pasta sauce
  • General straightening-up around the house
  • Walked 5 miles

I have the Xfinity 125 channel plan called something like “popular” or “favorites”. It includes most the channels I used to watch when I had everything and I do get CNN and MSNBC. Find out what you have now and check lesser packages. Dropping down a level me a significant amount.
