It's so good to see you back to YOU again- such a Joy,such a Blessing .It takes alot of heart, soul and perseverance to pick yourself up after having the rug pulled out from under your feet, you should be very proud of yourself- you are a WARRIOR!

Sharing those " baby steps" which are now 13,000 big girl steps is an inspiration for so many- God Bless you & much more to come:hugs:

Yesterday I
1) helped Himself fill cart with firewood and then stack it under cover near basement door
2) did a load of white and another of dark laundry
3) baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies
4) started dishwasher on the way up to bed

Today I
1) stripped bed and started sheets in washing machine
2) unloaded dishwasher
3) we will do a cart of firewood (and yes, finished my morning coffee)
4) e-mailed my "regular" and she will come in about an hour to collect the empty kitty litter tubs from the Chewy's order

and then see what else the day brings

That's smart- a cart of firewood at a time- how many do you like to stockpile for winter?

We burn about 2.5 to 3 cords of firewood each winter, Kwik Kwik A cord, if you are not familiar with that measurement, is 128 cubic feet. Nice Vermont Castings wood burning stove, open floor plan, name of the game is "can we keep the furnace from coming on." I am the keeper of the flame. Himself is the lumberjack. His shoulder has been bothering him so it is better that I help move the split wood from here to there. We're maybe 1/3 of the way there. Have - he guesstimates - another 19 or so carts worth to move.

Yesterday I found a nice shed snake skin as we were filling the cart from the wood piled by the driveway. Today Himself said that when he took the tarp off the wood he saw the snake but described it as striped. As I started picking up wood and handing it to him I saw the snake - a very handsome young milk snake. Which have bands rather than stripes. Picked it up, admired it, put it back in the wood pile several courses down from where I was taking wood. Nice!

Kwik Kwik Love your car!

Not much going on today. Rick is working outside and I'm working in the house, doing little odd jobs.
  • Went through the pantry closet and my baking/cooking lazy Susan in the kitchen and got rid of some of my seasonings that contain an ungodly amount of salt. I'm slowly replacing things with salt-free, even if it means making my own seasonings and such. I had given a lot of seasonings to our son several months ago, but am ready to give him a few more. We're getting to the point where we can deal with not having a lot of salt, but sometimes, I really miss it.
  • Going through a drawer in the hutch. It's got a ton of stuff in it that doesn't need to be in there. Who uses phone books anymore? I can't tell you when the last time it was that we opened a phone book. Into the recycling bin!
  • I'm going to make an apple coffee cake in a few minutes.
  • Tonight is an exercise night (I love my purple exercise mat!)

Kwik Kwik , Rick has owned 3 Mustangs: a 67, a 71, and then a 74. Many moons ago. We loved them. He would talk to you all day about those cars.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and made our coffee. And went back to bed for another couple of hours.
  • One load of laundry.
  • Went up to the garden and brought down some butternut squashes.
  • Watered over at the WeShed.
  • And walked 4-1/2 miles today.

Cool beans ! I'd be totally wrapped up in talking"cars" all day with Rick.....I've always been an adrenaline junkie, started weekend racing quarter mile on the dragstip(Raceway Park,NJ) at 16,,pretending I was 18.....my parents figured I'd outgrow the phase- 6 decades later I'm still a gear head! Lol

Yesterday morning was the aggravating bocce league. Honestly, I am ussr trying to get through these last games. The guy in charge is a jerk. He was bad before, but tolerable. This year, everyone is yelling at him. He does not get it. He changes the rules as to his favorites and his non-favorites. I am one of the non-favorites because I stand up to him. I used to just take it, but now; no more. This is my last year playing for him. You are asking: why do I not quit? Well, I know a lot of nice people in this league, and it is nice to socialize with them. Also, the this guy is not around, ti is so nice. We all cheer for each other. Plus; I have, at this moment , almost $60 paid in fees. If I quit now, I would miss out on the brunch that we always have.
This guy is old, in cognitive decline, a bully, deaf, in La-La land, and still bullies people. HIs girlfriend and him feel nothing is cognitively wrong with him. I sound non-caring, but I live in senior housing. This guy is one of the worst.
Everyone wants me to take the league over, next year. Nope.

Yesterday, he was really targeting me. I had several people mention it to me. And one of the guys told me to stand up to him, and tell him off. I did once and he quieted down or a few minutes. He always stands next to me with I am playing. He insists on being a referee. When you need him, he is in la-la land, or talking to someone, or not watching the game. He Yells so loud. He does frazzle me. Did not play well yesterday... played really good on Monday!--- different league, different atmosphere. It was nice.

So, after this fiasco; I asked a couple of friends to "get out of Dodge: and go to a favorite small coffee shop in the next town. It is on the water, you can go outside and watch the planes at Logan Airport and look at the docked boats in the wharf. They never bother you.. quiet, peaceful, a nice spot to hang out. They also have breakfast and lunch foods. We stayed there for somewhere around 1.5 hours, just chatting, and eating a slice of pizza.

I got an iced green tea lemonade! Delish... The pizza was pretty good.

That filled me up for the day... I had a large bowl of cheerios with coffee, blueberries, and almond milk for dessert.
It was such a good afternoon, after a horrendous morning. I tried to relax by reading, and having a light alcoholic beverage--Vodka & tonic..

The morning was re-lived when I went to bed. Up until 2am watching Colbert and then Say Yes to the Dress.. up early.. dam...
Hopefully crash today.

Today:
Have to dry Swiffer, vacuum, wet Swiffer floors; I should do a little dusting.. .. asked another friend to go out for an ice cream-- just to get away...

Humidity is here. It is supposed to be at least 85 degrees and the sticky humidity. I have windows open right now, I will closed them later and put AC on.

artiemom artiemom That bocce guy is a jerk. Plain and simple. Kudos for not taking his crap. Sounds like the rest of your day was nice and peaceful. Watching the boats and planes is really nice. Mmmm Ice cream!
  • Had my bloodwork this morning and got my results. Things are still stable. Creatinine has decreased a wee bit, which is good; any decrease is better than an increase. I'll take it. 8th Keytruda treatment is on Friday.
  • Rick and I went out to breakfast after the blood work thing. Then off to the grocery store to grab a few things that I'll need for our Labor Day dinner on Monday. Rick wants a peanut butter pie for dessert on Monday.
  • He and Muffin are now napping on the recliner in the living room. He starts bowling tonight. And while he's bowling, it's an exercise night for me.

Honestly, I think what really gets me is that he was a good friend of me and my dad, for 18 years! Two years ago, When I saw he was starting to fail with the bocce; I offered to help him. It was good in the beginning, then towards the middle of the season, he 'started in on me"; the;;ing me it wa his league and he was doing things his way, whether or not they worked out.... He constantly reminded me how 'great' he is, and that he is the ultimate authority on the game!! a real Blow-heart.... arrogant.....by the time the year ended I told him I was not helping him any more. He still expected me to 'help him" this year, and accused me of having information on my computer. If I did, I deleted it. I had to practically fight with him, about not having the information.. He has a Bocce Rules book in his house. He is still using the schedule I made up, and the typed rules which I wrote up for him!!

People are still remembering how much I helped him, how smoothly it ran, and I need to take it over..
3 more games!

Today turned out to a real 'do nothing' day.. just stayed in my nightshirt until 5;30pm... did the vacuuming, a bit of a wipe down in bathroom. Was so tired, and hot, AC went on late morning. I ended up stretching out on the sofa and read a few chapters. Then I got really sleepy, so I lied down on top of the bed, cuddling my support stuffed person-- Dopey from Snow White.. and dozed for a couple of hours. Got up with a start! I really missed Geoffrey at this time. He was my cuddle bug.. and my companion during the long days of winter, and days like today.

Looking on PetFinder. Boy, things have changed since Covid. It seems appointments are needed! WOW... I could go through the rescue I used to volunteer at; however, they seem to get the sick kitties... the really 'dumped one, an the ones on death row..... the unadaptable... somehow they do seem to downplay any illnesses the cats have. I do not know if they do that at other rescues... sigh...

Before it all went sideways
I wrapped up my left hand went outside an watered the plants by hand.
Did some laundry
THEN found out the finger in my left hand is broken ....... Again. Last time it was a compound fracture this time its not. Have an appointment next week to see if it can be repaired again or not, or if it will just heal.I have been keeping it taped to the finger next to it so it doesn't seem quite as bad.

Let's see, I don't have to go anywhere today. I might try getting the vacuum under my bed - it's very difficult. I should also do a bit of weight work, since I didn't get to the gym on Monday. And I should get on with knitting those jumper sleeves.

ETA all this has had to be put on hold. At least she let me finish breakfast.

My husband went right to work making a splint that fit my hand after we found out I fractured it.It immobilized it well.Better then just taping the fingers together.
This morning I did laundry.
Started a batch of yogurt in the Instant Pot
Started on dinner.
Now I'm here on TCS, with iced coffee and a cat on my lap.
I really did not think I fractured my hand, but it was not getting better or I would have gone to the doctor sooner. Hind sight is always 20/20

Tired this morning. I was very restless last night and watched the clock til it got to 4:30. Finally fell asleep, but it was my turn to get up with the girls at 6:00. Hoping for an early night tonight.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, made our coffee, and went back to bed.
  • I have seven halved and peeled baby butternuts roasting in the oven. Didn't get them done yesterday, so I needed to do them today. The rest are in the basement and I'll use as needed. Rick gave several to one of his bowling buddies last night. His other buddy said he'd take a few off our hands, too, next week. It works. When we offered to our neighbors, they said yes; but then they realized that we weren't talking about summer squash (zucchini), they said nope. They didn't want to deal with butternuts.
  • Need to take a bunch of peelings and such up to the compost pile. I separated the peelings from the seeds and threw the seeds in the trash (no need for volunteer baby butternuts in the compost!!).
