IzzysfureverMom IzzysfureverMom Congrats on that last kitten. I hope the meds work and he gets healthy. And I hope your hand heals, too!
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and made coffee for Rick and me.
  • Cleaned, sliced, and froze a ton of peppers from the garden.
  • Mowed the back yard
  • Came in the house and made a honey bun cake because Rick said I hadn't baked anything in 3 days! The snot. Can you tell he knows that I'm feeling better? It's been ages since I made a honey bun cake because it's so sweet. And Rick dearly loves it. He was a very happy camper when he came in for supper and saw the cake cooling.
  • Ordered a new exercise mat. Amber had peed all over my old mat and then I started having meniscus problems with my right knee. And then the UTIs, followed by the cancer. It's done, it's over, and I really, really need to get back into shape. Enough!

Yesterday was a nutty day.. It began with aggravation, from the day before and kept on going all morning long! I was at the point that I could not stand it any longer.. everything went wrong and it was so frustrating, aggravating , and anxiety provoking! One of those times when I was on 'edge' and really not good to be around people.

Thank Goodness I made plans to assist with a photo shoot. And that I talked to a friend about what was happening.
The Tenants Association is doing a 'Calendar Girls" calendar for 2025. It is confined to the executive board of the TA. They are doing a take off of the 'firefighters' semi nudie calendar.. yup, Seniors in various spots of the building with props at the strategic places.

I was helping a friend with her photo shoot. She is January--Re; Happy New Years.

We did a practice set up in the morning, then the Rabbi had a cooking class-- really good Persian Brown Rice with tons of herbs-- delish!
Then we sat and had a quick iced coffee. She went upstairs to get ready for the shoot. We set things up, filmed the shoot and then, opened up the real bottle of Korbel champagne to celebrate! The Rabbi is supervising the
Calendar, so we split the champagne and the Ginger Ale (prop for the champagne glasses due to bubbles). The Rabbi accepted a little bit of champagne, the new director of the building stopped by, and had some ginger ale. We disassembled the set, popped the balloons. Then sat down to celebrate.

Mind you, this was all done in the open, in the lunch room!! People were walking by, We waved, they stopped to look in. One guy for the bocce team-- not a tenant came in to get approval to post something on our bulletin board. We invited him over to share some champagne. He stayed for over an hour!

Then, the storm came!! Torrential winds and rain. I had my windows open. Everything was soaked.. But it turned out o be a good afternoon, so I was able to handle it stress free. A friend called me about what happened the day before at bocce.

Honestly, this Rabi is so cool. She is young, originally from Jerusalem, but is so good, kind, 'with it', accepting of all religions. She is great. Everyone respects and loves her.
~~
Today is:
Breakfast
Rinse out a couple of things,
Attend a Food Committee Meeting
Coffee with friends
out for an errand.
have a meeting--- with property management.. Minot looking forward to that. Re; new lease & rent.

But with me, you never know how the day will end up....

Because of the endless rain yesterday, I got a leaking ceiling in my apartment's bedroom. Soooooo, I have to wait for the roofers to come over. Cue the drama of watching them work, LOL!

Next - have to wash dishes and feed the critters their breakfast.

I have an art show in September that I have to find frames for. Three paintings so far. I hope I can find a good source for my frames!

artiemom artiemom That is awesome about the Calendar shoot! And it sounds like everyone is having a good time with it.
I hope you're feeling better this morning. :hugs:

The yard is mowed, all walnuts are picked up (again!) and taken over to the Borough's brush pile in the mountain. Rick finished that while I mowed the yard. I even spent some time in the WeShed last night, watching a few episodes of Ina's Back to Basics.

Rick was shoveling walnuts yesterday. He stood up, turned around and went head first into a large branch on the walnut tree. That knocked him flat on his back. I wanted to take him to the ER, but he says there's no concussion, just a very sore back. I was worried about his head and his ribs. One of the things he wants to get done before the snow flies this year is take the lower branches off all the trees in the yard. We are constantly fighting branches when we mow. And I think I mentioned before that the pine trees on one of our property lines are planted right along the line, so that all of the branches are on our property. I did talk to the man who owns the property now to see if we could cut them as the trees are old and the lower branches are now a mess and dying. He said to do what we want; we could even cut the trees down and that would be fine with him. We won't do that, but we are going to take the branches that are on our property. We are going to take pictures of the trees, too, so that should there be an issue later on, we'll have proof that the branches are dead. So that's a task for later on this fall when it's not quite so hot.
  • Have a couple prescriptions to pick up at Giant this morning. I also want to check Target for shampoo and conditioner for my curly hair. I have curls now; I might as well take care of them. When my hair is freshly washed, the curls are still very tight; as I go from day to day, they do loosen up a bit. But then I wash and they get tight again. Dear Richard is still quite fascinated with my curls.
  • One load of laundry. Honestly, for two people, we certainly rack up the laundry.
  • I'd like to make a list of deep-cleaning chores to do in the house this fall. I got very little done last fall and almost nothing this past spring either.

Thanks for your well wishes for this kitty.Oddly ( maybe , maybe not the little guy was a bright spot) Good Grief my hand, don't even know how I managed to fall.
Congratulations on your PET scan . I pray things continue in this direction. You went through a lot to get to this point. That makes you a warrior.

That is where we are now, my mother in law was diagnosed with bladder cancer in April then had a stroke in may. So it has been a lot of back and forth. She had cancer 38 years ago. They kept checking her for UTI infections ..... no infection. She was bleeding on and off I don't know I'm not a doctor but you don't think to check her for some type of cancer?

Today

this morning I started an Instapot of yogurt before I even had my coffee

we went to township park and pushed an envelope with check for 3rd quarter taxes into the secure post box at the township building

went to the very nice but expensive farm stand where I bought some summer squash and a couple of early apples

stopped at pharmacy to collect the balance of my prescription - they were short when I was there at the beginning of the week

stopped at the automotive body shop and retrieved my car. The other insurance company did pay the full cost for damages when the tractor trailer rear ended me (at barely walking pace, thanks be) in mid-June

Other than that - let's see, this afternoon

I baked a tray of chocolate chip cookies

made a bowl of tuna macaroni salad embellished with carrots, peas, black olives, mayonnaise and a little coleslaw dressing to perk it up. So dinner will be whenever we are hungry. Convenient.

IzzysfureverMom IzzysfureverMom UTIs were what started it for me. I kept having UTIs, but yet there was no infection. Doctor wasn't worried. I kept asking him if it was cancer and he kept saying no. I was worrying about nothing. So I went for about 9 months dealing with what he thought were UTIs before the bleeding started. And then my doctor sent me to a urologist, who did the scope. And I had bladder cancer. I feel for your mom. And for you, too. I know I'm the one who went through the cancer. But Rick was right there with me every step of the way. And it wasn't easy for him either. I'll keep your mom in my thoughts. And you, too. It's a hard journey. :hugs:

It rained throughout the night and also this morning for a while. We'll take any rain we can get.

I got a check from our local hospital yesterday. It was a refund from back in January when I ended up in the ER for kidney failure because of the chemo. They took my blood pressure and that was pretty much it because my oncologist called Rick and insisted that we go to another hospital. The local hospital billed us $100 for taking my BP that day. I got the refund yesterday, probably because I was eventually admitted to the other hospital. That was a surprise.

Rick is crawling around in the lima bean jungle. It had rained, but he wanted to get in there to see if any of the pods had plumped up enough to pick. I picked peppers the other night, but they're not quite red enough to get in the freezer, so they're on the kitchen counter, turning red.

I don't really have much to do today, at least I don't think so. I'll continue to read Angel of Vengeance and, when Rick starts watching paint dry (golf on tv), I may go out to the WeShed until time to work on dinner.

C catapault What size Instant Pot do you have? I have been considering getting one but have not been able to decide between the 6 qt or 8 qt. Most
people seem to go with the 6 qt.If I do yogurt I don't want it to burn. I have also been thinking of the purchase for dinner to use on hot days etc.

IzzysfureverMom IzzysfureverMom I'm not positive but will say it is probably 6 quart. A half gallon of milk fills it about half way. It takes a little over 10 hours - first set it to yogurt and "boil." When that part of the cycle is finished, let it cool down to 110 degrees Fahrenheit - I set inner pot with the hot milk in a sink with cold water to save time. Mix a couple of tablespoons of yogurt with some of the warm milk, add to remainder of warm milk, and let it make yogurt for 9 hours. I prefer to refrigerate the inner pot covered with a dinner plate overnight before spooning into a couple of containers for storage. Very convenient.

Got the irritated kitten to the vet yesterday and it went pretty well. She gave him a B12 shot as she was concerned about him being anemic and didn't want me to have to make another trip right away. Got the bloodwork results today and he is slightly anemic, so that will have to be watched. He also got vaccines and FIV and FeLV( negative). He has gained some weight but will need to gain more. Food timeis the time he is glad to see me so that's good.He is doing less hissing.
Getting caught up on laundry.
and doing some reading

On Monday, I went with Rick to his neurology appt. I hadn't been there for a while and wanted to be with him.
On Tuesday, he went with our neighbor and his little girl to HersheyPark. They got home around 11:00 last night. Which meant that I had the afternoon and evening to myself. And I had plans. I was going to get some work done. And then the nausea hit. Bad. Even the meds didn't really do much. I ended up sleeping for about 4 hours and, when I woke up, it was somewhat better.
I was able to get 2 miles of walking in and also started exercising last night. Not much to start. Baby steps. I started out with 5-pound bells.
  • Breakfast for the girls, made our coffee, and went back to bed. Got back up around 8:30 and grabbed my shower.
  • Changed the bed sheets and put the dirty sheets in the washer.
  • I have peppers to wash, chop, and freeze. (I did lima beans yesterday.)

Very nice work M Maddie15!
Kwik Kwik I've been walking now for several months and getting between 2 and 4 miles a day. It varies, depending on how I feel (fatigue, nausea). I shoot for 3 miles. My exercise mat came, so it was time to actually start exercising again. I'm starting out with 5 pound bells for my arms and such. And then I get on the mat for some leg work and sit-ups. Stuff like that. So that's where my baby steps came in.

We have a groundhog again. Rick has the WeShed pretty well insulated against critters, so we're pretty sure he's camping out under the equipment shed. Rick is not amused. Time to get the live trap out. If he catches him, he'll take him down in the woods to find a new home.
  • Last night, we were sitting in the living room, watching tv. Rick said, "There's nothing sweet to eat around here." So this morning, I got butter out to soften to make the dough for chocolate chip cookies. I hope he gets so fat he waddles!
  • A quick vacuum and swiffer about the house.
  • Sweep the WeShed deck off from all the leaves and branches. Something keeps getting into my windowboxes and digging around. I've become very frustrated with the critters around here lately; they don't leave anything alone this summer.

Honestly Kwik Kwik , I don't where he puts all his sweets. He's working outside a lot right now, but still. He (and his mother) has a horribly sweet tooth and he's always wondering when the next treat is coming. When I was sick, he was pretty quiet about it, but now that I'm regaining stamina, he's asking about cookies. Often. He says he has a lot to catch up on. He's just lucky he's so cute.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and made coffee for Rick and me. Then I went back to bed. Got up a couple hours later.
  • I took the cookie dough out of the fridge to warm up just a bit and will bake the cookies in about an hour.
  • May throw a load of laundry in the washer.

Last night, after dinner, I mowed the back yard while Rick was working on removing lower branches on some of the trees in the side yard. After I was done, I helped him get the branches over to our neighbor's trailer. We got one load down and Rick and neighbor took it all down to the brush pile. From my walking outside, I ended up with over 13,000 steps, about 6.5 miles for the day, a record for me lately. He's outside working again today. He visited with his mom this morning and took up some chocolate chip cookies that I made yesterday. Told her that I put five library audiobooks on her Kindle.
  • Had to clean the WeatherTech mats in the kitchen. I took the recyclables out of the lower cabinet at the sink and knocked down the Windex bottle. And the cap wasn't tight. What a mess. I cleaned everything up, took the mats outside to dry in the sun, and will bring them in later. I can't believe I was such a klutz. There was a lot of muttering in the kitchen, including a few bits of cussing. It's difficult for me to get down on my hands and knees to scrub the floor, so I have to do it bending over. Not a pretty sight.
  • After finishing that, I scooped the boxes. Vacuumed. Cleaned out the refrigerator and wiped it down. And took everything out to the trash can.
  • Plan to do a quick swiffer in the kitchen and living room. And clean the bathroom.
