Did get the bedroom vacuumed yesterday and dispatched the little spider under the bed. He had no friends and I couldn’t see any nest either. Basement still isn’t taken care of, I still have to get supplies. We had a little neighborhood get together so I did some baking for it in the afternoon. I have to take a drive over to the aunt’s property later today to pick up and return a package being left on her doorstop. Tomorrow I am setting up a post office mailbox near meand getting her mail set up to forward.

  • We did some shopping this morning.
  • Came home and made these: One peck of peaches makes two peach crumble pies and a peach cobbler. I can't get over how beautiful these peaches were. And so good! The two pies are wrapped and in the freezer and we enjoyed the cobbler for our dessert tonight.

  • And then I cleaned up my mess and made spaghetti for dinner.

I got the results of my PET scan yesterday. The scan shows no cancer, no abnormalities. It was clean! And I immediately started to cry. My oncologist gave me a huge hug. This was literally the best news we've had in a year. I will continue with the Keytruda treatments; I have five more to go. And then we'll see what's going on. If need be, I can do the treatments for two years. But, if all goes well, it will just be a maintenance kind of thing. Oh, and, at this point, he sees no reason to remove the bladder.

I still need to do blood work because of my kidneys. The kidney issue will likely be a lifelong thing for me as going through chemo really did a number on them. I will work on diet (and now exercise) to get the numbers lower and, hopefully, keep them lower. So far, there's no need for dialysis.
  • Change the bedsheets and put the dirty ones in the washer.
  • Work on cleaning and chopping peppers for the freezer. Rick will be going up to the garden today to pick lima beans. I'll work on them, too.
  • We're trying a chuck roast in the Traeger tomorrow. I'll get it ready tonight.

Yesterday the pilgrims for Our Lady of Czestochowa came down the road, as they do every August. A three day event from where they start until they finish in Pennsylvania. Smallish group at around 2:30 p.m., then a noticeably larger group later on. And just after they were out of sight from my window the heavens opened up.

I've been throwing out cut up corn cobs, cut cantaloupe rind. It does get eaten but I don't see by whom. Raccoons, no doubt. Yesterday evening I was back to tossing out whole corn kernels, peanuts, black oil sunflower seeds. And when I looked out about 30 minutes later there were 5 raccoons industriously foraging. They were there for the longest while. No doubt because they needed to pickup one piece, eat it, pick up another, und so weiter.

Went to the other Wal-Mart this morning. It is not the super store we usually go to. Now I remember why. While the freezer space for Klondike bars was filled there was no room for the dark chocolate coated ones that is preferred. Wanted the house brand of English muffins (just as good as Thomas and half the price.) There were only about 3 or 4 packages on the shelf. One had "best use by" date of 8/5, another was 8/1. And today is 8/10. I told two different workers and neither seemed to be that concerned. One said he'd pass it on, the other told me to go to customer service. No thank you. Think in future I'll just go to the other store. Besides, today's store is majority self checkout and I dislike working for free.

I want a lazy day today.. but nope...

Got up really late..
did some on line stuff
showered
Went to Target for a few things. It is tax free weekend here. Store was crowded, but not many large items being sold; just small stufff
Went to SB in the store for a Large (Venti) Green Tea Lemonade-- my summer favorite.
Need to vacuum
I have a halved chicken breast which I need to cook; and one ear of corn..

Have been trying to clean out the closets and organize, this past week. I am tired of it; but almost done. One more area to do... Have to do that either this afternoon or tomorrow.

lizzie lizzie Is it you who is always washing your vacuum tank? If it is I thank you. I did it this week. Normally, I periodically wash the filters, but not the tank. I am afraid to disconnect the hoses and wash them.. not that I would know how to do so.. probably in the bathtub.

Wonderful news, Winchester Winchester !

All I've done today is get the sheets washed a couple of days early - Sunday's often a good day to get the laundry to myself. Need to get them out of the dryer in a few minutes and hope they're actually dry this time (last time they were in there two hours and were still damp in places!). Then comes the real chore, making the bed. I hate making the bed, getting the fitted sheet on is a pain, the mattress and topper are so heavy.
There aren't any other chores to do, though, other than make lunch. I've been reading online and doing a little knitting, that's all.

Up bright and early this morning.
  • Breakfast for the girls, empty the dishwasher, and made coffee for Rick and me.
  • The chucks are in the smoker. I injected them last night with a bourbon sauce, then put a salt-free rub on them. Each chuck weighs 3.5 pounds (from Costco).This is a practice run for a brisket later on in the fall. I'm hoping they'll be ready around 5:30; we put them in the smoker at 7:00. We're getting the hang of the Traeger now.
  • I made the dough for a batch of Double Tree Signature Cookies yesterday. Oatmeal, chocolate chips, and pecans. Last night, Rick said, "You know, dear, there's nothing sweet to eat." This was after he finished the peach cobbler. And I told him that I had made the cookie dough and will bake them off today. He was happy with that.
  • Get laundry ready for tomorrow. I washed the comforter and the electric blanket yesterday and put them back on the bed with fresh sheets.

Yesterday, I did manage to accomplish most of my chore list.

I never did cook the chicken. It is now in the freezer for hopefully sometime this week.
I will make the corn today...

Today:
Up early for Mass,
Breakfast
sitting here with a cup of tropical green tea--- had a few pistachios
Need to change bed sheets
Get laundry together for tomorrow morning.
Meeting up with a friend late this afternoon---- maybe.. That is IF she can commit to a time...

I really dislike people who say, "Lets meet up". you ask what time? response: "I do not have a specific time, it is as I go along." Trying to pin them done, it is; " XXX time period (an hour or so)"... I feel taken advantage of!!

The corn (on the cob) will be my mid day snack. I have to use it today.

Since I have done so much organizing and cleaning this week, I think I deserve a day to rest and read the book I started 2 weeks ago...

Yesterday, I managed to go to Target, get some plastic storage boxes, to replace the cardboard boxes. I spent the rest of the afternoon, vacuuming and throw stuff out--- reorganizing.
Well, it keeps me from missing Geoffrey..
Today I am tired-- did not sleep well last night..

Got up early for my Monday volunteering (actually had more to do there for the first time). Went to the gym afterward, but only stayed about thirty minutes - I really didn't feel like it and the music they had on today was very uninspiring.
Came home, had lunch, did some desultory knitting while reading, found the laundry was empty so got my washing on a day or two early. Now lying on the bed to knit, because the sun is coming in the back window. At 19C it's too warm to put the heater on, but it's uncomfortably chilly in the lounge. I may have a Daisy to keep me company in a moment.

Rick and his sister are getting together with Hospice for their mom. It's time. She was bad last night and the paramedics had to be called. They got her stabilized and didn't take her to the ER. But it's time for Hospice to step in.

My low-sodium Worcestershire sauce came today as did my order from Y'all Sweet Tea. Rick has Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy, and Strawberry Splash. I just got two decaf packages for me as they don't have flavors in decaf. I really wish they did. The new Agent Pendergast (Preston/Child) should be here tomorrow.
  • I have chopped peppers in the freezer, ready to be bagged and frozen. The pepper plants are very prolific.
  • Two loads of laundry.
  • Vacuum, swiffer, etc.

Up early today as it was my day to take care of the girls. It's really pretty outside.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and made coffee for Rick and me.
  • A quick trip to Giant for a few things.
  • Did the two loads of laundry today (that I didn't get done yesterday)
  • Froze peppers and lima beans
  • Picked six baby butternuts (the babies don't get real big). Five are peeled, seeded, and chopped, and are in the oven now to puree for me to make squash yeast rolls tomorrow morning. The sixth one will be halved and baked for dinner tonight.
  • Angel of Vengeance came today
  • I may work on mowing the lawn tonight (after I clean up the kitchen from working today)

Yesterday was a weird day:
Up early for bocce
Bocce--- last game so wasted morning
Got a couple of referrals for a new eye doctor--- mine retired and I am not sure I want the one the office assigned to me.
Picked up a couple of amazon packages
Had to go to garage to have air put in my tires. Next week, I am bringing the car into them, to check out the tires, and rotate them. The sensor light has been going off too often this year..

Found out our Matriarch of the building, will be 103 years old on Thursday. Also found out she is leaving us to go to assisted living. Man, I will miss here. She has macular degeneration, amazingly, she gets around! She can see shapes and colors. Marge is sharp as a tack. So kind.. so grateful for any help she gets. She just started using a walker, this year!! She was getting around on her own!! She is well loved in here.

I am going to start the process of seeing if we can get the building to have a combo birthday party/farewell party for her. As well as the priest singling her out at our Mass next week.. probably bring her a very colorful bouquet of flowers... she is a love.....
~~~~~~~
Today is a mixed up day:
Up early
Have to talk to a couple of people about a party for Marge, perhaps invite the city councilors, and they suggest the mayor.
Play make up game in bocce
make my supper for lunch
read a bit??
Then go to 4pm Mass. Tomorrow is a Holy day, and I will not be able to make a mass. I really dislike going to 7;30am mass or a 7pm mass..
Tomorrow morning is a very hectic morning. Crashing in the afternoon. But I need to go to Trader Joes.. I need their blueberries. They have the best ones.
We were talking to our neighbors last night for a while. They said that we now have wolves here! I didn't know that, but supposedly they've been seen. We know we have coyotes because, before we got the mini-splits for AC, we'd have the windows open at night and we could hear them yipping in the woods across the road from our house. I thought wolves were primarily out west, but somebody saw something and they swear it was two wolves. Somebody else saw tracks. I have no idea.
  • The dough for my squash crescent rolls is rising...I use the Proof function for my oven and also place a bowl of steaming hot water in the oven to speed the proofing up a bit.
  • Did the litter boxes and got the trash ready to take outside.
  • General straightening-up about the house.
  • Hit the WeShed to check on the plants.
Made beet gazpacho this morning. That was a job because I fell outside yesterday and banged my hand up.So great. My husband helped me get it done.
We got the kitten that we have been trying to get for weeks. I was sure he had a hell of a worm load as he was super skinny. He disappeared then showed up again when we got back again from our family's health issues trip.His one eye doesn't look good, maybe conjunctivitis.So I am concerned about that and maybe the possibility of anemia with the crazy worm load he has. Treated him for worms.I hope my hand is doing better by monday to take him to the vet. He is the least friendly out of his siblings and mother, but trying to see what can be done as fall and winter will be here before we know it and putting him back out is not a good option at all. Today he is hissing and giving me the stink eye, but obviously frightened.
Other then that I think I'll be sitting on my tail feathers today interfacing a little with my feral friend, looking at cookbooks and giving my black and blue hand a break.
