We finally received some blessed rain. It seems like forever, other than a sprinkle here and there, just enough to wet the grass. But last night, we got a t-storm, which certainly helped. It's still raining now, but is supposed to stop fairly soon. Probably about 1/3 of an inch. Still better than nothing.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and scooped the boxes
  • We're checking out a new-to-us farm market this morning, about an hour or so away. We're taking the ice chest filled with ice bags, just in case we find something interesting. You never know.
  • And then going out to lunch with my brother and SIL.

Aunts conservator/guardianship hearing yesterday , went well but emotionally exhausting. Recovering today by doing nothing while I wait for an Amazon delivery. Tomorrow we go to the aunts house for an assessment and beginning of a plan for clearing it.

Went and picked up a new power strip for my computer this morning. Got it all set up and everything came on immediately. Fingers crossed that this resolved my internet outage issues. Still recovering from yesterday’s aunts house visit. My sister doesn’t understand that it isn’t our stuff to just take if we like or want it. Shouldn’t have to, but I explained to her we need to sell what we can for my aunt’s benefit and then if there are things that dont sell we can either toss or keep. She and her husband are so low energy, they were worn out and ready to leave after an hour and a half of sitting and sorting paperwork. It is going to be challenging.

Call from our son this morning. He was setting off for his every morning bike ride yesterday. Fortunately close to home because his bike hit a stone on the road, swerved, and he fell. Fractured four ribs. They don't do anything these days, no wrapping or anything, just tell you to take it easy. I ventured that turning over in bed must be awkward and painful. He said that he doesn't even try right now.

Out and about. Stopped at the IGA and bought coffee beans (decaf, full caffeine causes issues), bananas, thin sliced boneless pork cutlets (may try tatsuta with them), frozen sugar snap peas (in case I make the tatsuta), another package of Klondike bars (my goodness, could almost think they evaporate because they certainly don't last around here), and a couple of rolls.

Stopped afterward on the way elsewhere so I could photograph some lovely red hibiscus in a front yard. Easy-peasy. Himself pulled over, I just lowered the window and got my images.

Went to the local family orchard. No more Saturn donut peaches but I did buy a small basket of white and a larger basket of yellow peaches. Dropped off two chocolate chip cookies as a thank you for their excellent fruit.

A neighbor had asked for an empty kitty litter tub when we have one to share. I recently go an order and my originally-Freecycle-now-regular-pickup-person got them. So when I spotted two Deli-Cat tubs on the side of the road we stopped so I could take them. Not empty. Filled with those 2-wire bail, glass top canning jars. Seventeen of them. Even most of the lids. Very dirty, now being run through dishwasher. A) I have a good supply of the lids. and B) even have the rubber rings needed to seal them.

And that's how the day has gone so far.

susanm9006 susanm9006 I feel your pain re cleaning out a house. My sister and I did my parents' house, then their apartment, followed by my aunt's apartment, and then, finally, Rick and I did his parents' house. Rick's parents' house was the worst by far. And his sister spent her time walking through the house, wringing her hands, and complaining because she was an old woman. She came out to the kitchen when I was on the step ladder, washing the kitchen cabinets and ceiling and started whining to me. I got down off the ladder and went for a walk. I couldn't deal with her. A few months later, when we had the public sale for their parents, she did the same thing. My sister and BIL and our son were there with us acting as runners during the sale. Rick's sister sat in the living room and whined because she was so tired. The whole time. I don't have a lot of time for her. It's a lot of hard work cleaning out a house and trying to have a sale!
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and made coffee for Dear Richard and then for me.
  • One load of laundry.
  • I spent this morning going through bureau drawers and getting rid of a lot of old shirts and such. What's still in good shape will go down to the thrift store; everything else will be tossed. I want to go through my closet as well at some point. While I was looking through the t-shirts, Molli was watching intently. Then she started to fuss. We think she thought I was going somewhere! But no luggage or anything and she calmed down.
I'm trying to convince myself to start an exercise program. Nothing big, not with the Keytruda treatments. But I need to start watching more of what I eat and trying to lose some weight. My oncologist says not to worry about it as I have enough going on right now. But it's really starting to bother me and I need to do something. I've been giving myself pep talks to start tomorrow (Monday). Got my dumbbells out from under the bed as an incentive. We'll see how it goes.

A restless night last night. Dear Richard is starting to have some bad twinges with his hip; he always said that he would need a hip replacement before he would need a knee replacement. He couldn't get comfortable and kept tossing around. He finally dropped off to sleep, but I still couldn't relax enough as I was worried about the PET scan today, not about the scan so much, but about the results. I finally dropped off around 2:30, I think. Slept until 6, when the girls started in with demands for breakfast. Couldn't go back to sleep.
  • Scooped the boxes
  • PET scan
  • We stopped at a local restaurant for their salad bar after leaving the hospital and that was lunch/dinner.
  • Worked on any last-minute changes to the Costco list for tomorrow.

1) Walked the dog today and tossed the garbage while heading out. Yaaay! I adulted!

2) Started taking Winter off me (Her leash is wrapped around my waist) while around Puddles. She's slowly learning what her limits are, and the dog is still on a leash if she decides to bolt after the cat.

3) Been commissioned to do cat portraits by several friends of mine, PLUS there's an art show I'm entering this Sept. Sweet stuff! Gonna be busy!

My original plan for today was to go buy a new I phone but instead yuck work to be done. Last night I had a spider in my room - I hate spiders - so moving my bed today to vacuum and spray. Bigger yuck. - We had torrential rains all day and into the evening and my basement drain system sprung a leak so there was water in the basement this morning. Not a ton but clean up required and then I have to go buy some sealant and patch the leaking spot which is in a really hard to reach area. I just love laying on a damp basement floor and reaching into a dark wet crevice to apply putty.

Did laundry really early this morning
Took my vehicle for service oil change and front brakes. Really don't like going there but with family health issues and going back and forth it is important for everything to be in good shape even more. So I sat there for quite a while. My husband offered to take it but he just got back and will have to go back in a couple days. Then we have to go back the near the end of the month. Unless something else happens.
Did watering when I got back.
Now I am sitting here trying to chill out, before starting dinner.

Rain at last! 1.20 inches / 3.05 cm in an hour earlier this evening. Supposedly more over night and more most of the day tomorrow. It is welcome, don't get me wrong. Would just prefer a more equitable distribution.

Working on a book review for my website. Book received from publisher, requested images, have not either heard when or gotten any. So found some on the internet but they are something WEBP which I cannot edit (reduce to necessary size) but finally managed to turn them into JPEG Not the images I wanted but - sigh - will use what I use.

I am temporarily (for about 3 weeks) without a car while it is at the collision shop to repair the damaged back bumper from when it was rear ended by a tractor trailer on the highway at fortunately barely moving speed. While the other insurance company is required to cover cost for a rental car I A) mostly do modest and around town / local driving which B) anyhow sometimes sees me "chauffeured" by Himself. So we will see how it goes. Today I asked for a ride down the driveway when he went to collect the now empty garbage can and pick up the mail, so I could empty the compost bucket into the compost heap.

BTW - his plug-in Tucson hybrid needs gasoline so infrequently that I suggested he put some Stabil in the tank. Which he did when he fueled up yesterday. Only needed four gallons. And I think it was maybe the 3rd or 4th time since he got the Tucson in January. He figures the cost of fuel is about 7 cents / mile. No idea of cost of electricity. Plugs into a 240v outlet in our garage.

So that's my 3 things for today.

It is not merely that it is long, Kwik Kwik It is uphill from the street to the house. To give you an idea, here's an image from March 2018 when a tree had come down across the driveway. That's my tool shed you can see by the curve at the top.Fortunately Himself had moved both cars to the parking area at the bottom. If there is heavy snow . . . Yes, there have been times when I needed to put groceries in an ash splint pack basket, put it over my back and trudge up the driveway.

It's raining. We need it. And, according to Accuweather, Debby will be coming up right through us tomorrow. The forecast, so far, is about 3 inches. Let it rain. Just...let it rain.
  • Bloodwork this morning.
  • We went to the farmers' market. I picked up a peck of peaches for $18. That seems expensive to me. Came home and I put together my pie dough, patted it into 2 discs, and tossed it in the fridge. A peach pie and a peach cobbler will be my tasks for tomorrow.
  • I'm going to go through my closet this afternoon. Get rid of some things I no longer wear and start thinking about fall clothing.
