Works with other things as well like zucchini when you don't want a bunch of water leaching into a dish. Speaking of sicilian have you ever cooked cucuzza? My husband ( he is Sicilian decent) grew it for a few years, such a crazy plant.Flowers open only at night so bees cannot pollenate them .You have to move pollen from one plant to another.
Yep- all the time

It's been a busy couple of days. On Sunday, I did about 5 pints of red beets for the freezer. Cleaned house on Monday. Tuesday, we went to Roots (outside of Manheim, PA), but didn't buy much at all. Picked up my blueberries last night. I had ordered 10 pounds of blueberries from our local Kiwanis. Bob picked them up for me Tuesday morning and stuck them in his fridge, since we were going to Roots. So I went up last night and got them from Bob. Along with his Christmas cactus that's not looking very well. He showed it to me when he put it in Hazel's trunk and said, "Fix it!"

It's the first I've seen Bob since I started chemo. He was just getting used to my grey/white hair (I used to be auburn until Covid hit and decided to let the greys go out) after I retired. That alone was a shock. I refused to see him when I was bald and wearing my cap. So last night was the first he's seen my curly hair. He said it takes time to get used to it, but he likes it. And now he's calling me Curly. Snot.

So today...
  • A load of laundry this morning.
  • Must find a decent-size saucer for Bob's cactus. I may cut it back a bit, too. Water all the plants in the WeShed.
  • Freeze blueberries. I put them in bags in two-cup servings because that's what I normally use for my recipes. Make a Blueberry Boy Bait coffee cake.
  • If I get around to it, I'll finish up the beets that are still in the garden.
It is simply horrid outside. Hazy, hot, and humid. And it looks like it will continue on into the following week as well. 90sF and humid as Hades. We were hoping for rain from Beryl, but now it looks like it will be going to the west of us. Our soil is dust. I watered the gardens over by the WeShed on Sunday and Rick told me last night that they could use another drink. And they're in the shade!

I didn't have my glasses on and read " Sunday I did 5 pints of red beer for the freezer" -I thought" Gee whiz, must be really hot out there to be drinking all that beer and does she have a walk in freezer?"🤣🤣🤣Then I got my glasses cause that couldn't be right🤔

You've been a very busy girl but when aren't you?

Curly is cute- I like it( better than baldy)I bet you love your curly locks ❤

Really warm today so I got my errands done early. Picked up water refills at Hyvee, stopped at the thrift store because it’s senior wednesday and took the car for an oil change. When I got back I watered the dirt and grass seed areas where my front trees were removed. That is it for outdoors for the day. I threw in a load of laundry and that is the last productive thing inside as well.

Continue on the the other half of my building this morning to straighten out the hedges and shrubs, clean ....I'm quiet as a mouse so I do it before the sun comes up and it's too hot then anyway

I need to take Sami out ,we'll get the mail and take out the garbage (he's getting rambunctious with his leash so I'd better take him now ,lol before he starts really complaining

Plumbers due early to fix hot water heater ,going in the kitchen will not be an option so I'm going to take down the sliding door insert with the pet door and replace the weatherstripping kitties shredded..that'll keep me busy awhile because the old is a pain to get off

Seeing as it was cool early this morning I got up went 3 grocery stores. Walked in shopped at two, pickup at the last one. Stopped at the seafood market.Went home unloaded and put away everything with help from my husband. Made two large batches of laundry detergent . Did a load of laundry. Clean the bedroom and changed sheets so humans and cat can breathe at night. Prepped dinner. Now I"m going to take a page out of neely neely book and have afternoon coffee. Sitting here with iced coffee and a cat on my lap. Hope I don't regret it.
The coffee not the cat.🤩

My usual morning routine - went to the gym, ran two errands and picked up chicken breasts on sale at the grocery store for DH, came home and started a load of laundry. I'm trying to get all the winter clothing washed and put away, e.g. coats, hats, gloves, scarves, sweaters, vests, etc. IzzysfureverMom IzzysfureverMom now I'm having my afternoon coffee. No cat on my lap, he's fast asleep on my slippers, he likes to use them as a pillow.

We got a brief respite from the heat (low 80s) today, but will be going back up into the 90s tomorrow. Also had a shower, which consisted of five or six raindrops. That was it.
  • Swept the Deck and put the plants out (finally!).
  • Vacuumed the Shed and got it ready for our grandson's visit. He'll be here around 9:00 tonight and will stay until Sunday. He and Rick will be working on the border wall in the back yard.
  • Cleaned the bathroom and kitchen.
  • Vacuumed, swiffered.
  • And I finally made the dough for the garlic-parmesan rolls. I'm only about a week behind when I wanted to do them originally. The dough is proofing overnight in the fridge and I'll shape and bake tomorrow.

Too funny neely neely because I started going thru my warmer clothes yesterday to figure out what I might need for fall!

As soon as the school year ended and summer vacation began I would start washing the winter stuff because I didn't want to wait until I had to go back to work to do it. Besides I like to dry the clothes outdoors in summer, they seem so much fresher. I sort of slacked off this year and waited longer but that's due in part to all the rain we've been getting.

Yesterday was a terribly long day with a plumber so I'm not sure I'll do alot at all,I'm sort of tapped out

But my 3things will definitely be to put documents I loaned to this Associstion back in my storage(it's many bagged & boxed)

Wash my car ( filthy everyday from next door Plaza doing work ) really getting on my nerves with dirt flying around everywhere

Finish trimming the other half of a very big shrub I started yesterday and call it a day outside....

Our grandson got here around 9:30 last night. Talked to us for a while and then he went out to the Shed and crashed. He usually gets up around 4:30 in the morning, but he was pooped. Came in around 7:30 and said, "I slept like a baby!" They're outside working now.
  • The ribs are ready for the smoker and the chocolate cake is in the oven. I made the thickener for the peanut butter frosting and that's cooling. I gave DGS a choice between chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and pineapple upside down cake. He wanted the chocolate cake.
  • Just some general straightening up in the kitchen. I'll probably have to do a quick load of dishes.
  • Clean litter boxes and sweep.
And, other than working on dinner, that will be my day.

Big storm last night that temporarily knocked out power. Had to set the time on the microwave before I could make coffee and it’s one of those where you have to set time AND date before it will do anything. That meant getting my glasses on and entering numbers to its satisfaction, way too much to do before coffee.

Big thrift store score yesterday. Two nearly new swivel counter top height chairs for my table, $15 each. I have been looking at new chairs for the last few months to replace the 19 year old uncomfortable and wobbly ones that came with my table. Last week I went to four local furniture stores and tried out chairs without finding any that were affordable and comfortable. Found the two yesterday at the Goodwill that were both. The only issue is that they are cream colored and I would prefer dark brown. I have already removed seat cushions and will give them a sand and spray paint.

My three things concern what DH believes to be a stray dog in our neighborhood yesterday evening.

1. If it's still around, buy dog food.
2. Bring it home?
3. Am I seriously going to end up with a dog?

Okay. I've taken a few deep, calming breaths. Now I have a headache. I haven't eaten yet this morning. Guess I need to do that. I also need to go to the Weird Table Store and buy some tomatoes. I've had a few come in from my garden but theirs are delicious. They have a beautiful angel holding a gazing ball that would look pretty in the yard. A small angel with a small gazing ball. I think DH might be okay with that amount of glass. Bob was DH's answer to my German Shepherd. DH isn't a dog person, but he is not going to let one starve. The dog is weighing heavy on his mind because he brought it up several times. I wuvs my Bob, but he is more work than all my other cats put together. And if I'd gotten a German Shepherd, she would have probably been a breeze compared to Bob. He is wailing right now. Guess I need to go check on him.

neely neely you are in my prayers. I love the picture you posted earlier in this thread. :hugs:
