Mia6 Mia6 I am sorry you didn’t get any relief from the block. That’s adorable with Cal!

Not overly warm, but boy, is it sticky! Blah!

Rick went to Target to pick up meds. He’s grabbing a pack of flatbreads and we’ll do pizza on the NFG tonight.

I am thinking about getting a barstool-type of chair on wheels with adjustable height and arms. That way I can tool around the kitchen anyway. I can go to the fridge, sink, etc. Do some things, help with washing dishes. Make a bit of dinner. Without the damn crutches. I can use my other leg to move the chair. Every thing that I can do helps Rick, too. My evaluation period will be over next week. The ortho-weenie may tell me to continue on the same course, even if it has started to heal, so I’d be on the crutches anyway for a while. It’s an idea….just not sure about it. I feel absolutely useless. And I do not do well with the crutches, although I am getting better. I don’t think I walked into the hallway wall at all yesterday. :) Thoughts?

Working on the computer again this afternoon. I’ll hit the shed for a while, too. Rick will work up in the garden. He’s thinking of mowing the yard.

Chewy order did not come. They’re saying today now.

Not much going on.

Winchester Winchester Pam, would you be allowed to use a walker instead of crutches? I fell about 30 years ago, my foot was badly bruised and doc couldn't tell if there were any broken boned because the swelling was so bad. He put a cast on, I had to stay off of it for 4 days but I couldn't use the crutches, too difficult and they hurt my arm pits. I rented a walker from the pharmacy. (had the cast removed but didn't have foot x-rayed again.) Now my right foot is deformed, hee, hee) I think you are doing great!! :hugs:

No. Mia6 Mia6 The whole purpose of the crutches is to keep as much weight as possible off that leg. A walker won’t do that, unless I just hopped along on my good leg. That’s why I thought of a barstool on wheels. It’s adjustable, so I can adjust the height to use at the counter. I can use my good leg to move it and keep off the bad leg. That’s my reasoning, anyway.

I asked for a cast. The ortho-weenie turned me down cold. “If you listen, you’ll be completely off the leg! A cast won’t be needed. STAY OFF THE LEG!” Well, alrighty then.

:hugs:

Mia6 Mia6 so sorry the block did not provide any relief. That happened to me with cortisone shots.
The first one was good, the second one was not.. I get a cortisone flare also, so it is not worth it for me.. plus I have had too many of them, for my own good.
I am truly sorry that you cannot get any relief from the pain. ((hugs))

Winchester Winchester I think the bar stool sounds llike a great idea. Many years ago, when my dad was alive, he still wanted to do things in the kitchen. He loved cutting things: making my salad for lunch, habit his breakfast or lunch at the kitchen counter. He found a bar stool.. not on wheels,
That would have been too dangerous for him.

My Dad used it constantly! It really came in handy.. It was the perfect height for him.. well perhaps a bit too high, but he loved it..

It is so dang hot and humid outside. It is 88 degrees with heat index of 94 degrees! It is ridiculous to breathe. I am not going out.. not even for an iced tea.

Geoffrey was curled up in a corner, in the hot bedroom. I took him out of it, and put him in a 'tent" on the sofa. The 'Tent" is just a draped throw, so he can hide. I did the same for my angel Artie.

Geoffrey is not doing well at all. He had a bad weekend with vomiting. I ate scheduled an appointment with the specialist and and ultrasound. We have to wait until July 15, because Ultrasound is so busy. I could push and get an earlier appointment with the specialist; but that would mean that G would have to be NPO all day.. and squeezed into the Ultrasound schedule.
I would either wait all day, or go home and then have to return to pick him up... The Specialist is going to have a fit... He really is... not about me scheduling the U/S; but about G's condition. After Artie.. well, it just isn't fair.. but that is life.. God knows who to send the sick kitties to~~ ME!
Now, it really brings into light why Geoffrey was given up for adoption; perhaps, it is true that his previous owner was moving into an apartment that did not allow cats~~` but, failed to mention the vomiting problems.. and now, I am am more aware of why G hides under the bed, covers, and feels so comfortable in the bathroom. He was probably kept in there because of his vomiting..
It all makes so much sense. There are so many cats, who are given up because of medical issues... it is a shame.

I wish Royal Canid did not change their formula!! G really likes their old formula. I hoarded a case of it, which he is now eating, exclusively... the Freely food is not being fed, just to see if this vomiting could be caused by an ingredient in the Freely food... but it is almost identical to the old RC formula... dam..

Surprisingly, my bedroom has been tolerable for me.. I have a rotating extension fan on low, along with an air purifier on #3... There is a fan on top of my refrigerator, pushing some cooler air towards it.. I can sleep. It is amazing.. I keep the AC on in the living room..

Today:
*medicated Geoffrey
*breakfast for both of us.. Geoffrey did not want to play. He was mad at me!
*went to gym~~ for the treadmill.. loved it!! I now have access to the gym! 1.4 miles today! worked up a good sweat.. Tomorrow, I will do the weight training---air resistance machines for seniors-- that the gym coordinator put in place for me, with approval from my PCP..
*upstairs to cool off
*a couple quick phone calls
*shower
*a quick dry swiffer
*2nd cup of coffee.... on internet.

It is going to be another day, when I am hiding in my cave!!! Honestly, I am so bored. I have a lot to do, but ... the weather is making me lazy.. I am not even leaving for a SB iced tea. Staying in.

It is so humid out there, that I see one couple on the beach. That is very unusual, at this time of day.

Just venting, as usual......

Winchester Winchester Have you considered a knee scooter? What is a Knee Scooter? The Complete Guide Not sure if it would work with your fracture. My daughter used one after bunion surgery and said it was very good.
Yep, that is what I was going to suggest.
I thought about the knee scooter, also.. but that would mean that Winchester Winchester would be putting weight on the bad knee. From what I understand, the break is up at the knee.
I am not sure if this would beneficial to her.. putting strain on that knee.
It seems she has to immobilize that knee...

My BIL used a scooter after an ankle fusion and he really liked it. But I can’t use it bc I can’t put any weight on the knee at all. It’s perfect for ankle/foot things, but not for knees. Thanks anyway!

I made muffins! :woo::woohoo: Rick didn’t want to make them for our strawberry shortcake, so he brought it all to the table and I threw it all together. But then he had to put everything away again. I helped clean up a bit. But I made muffins! (it’s the little things)

Came home and loaded up the dishes that were in the sink into the dishwasher. No idea why the male species can't get dishes into a dishwasher but they apparently can't. :ohwell:

Made an appointment with a new vet office for the beginning of August to get Boone and Gracie their yearly wellness checkups and vaccinations.

Voted this morning. Other than poll workers we were almost the only ones there in the school gymnasium.

Roof top weather station stopped working shortly after 2:00 a.m. this morning. And we had a very drenching afternoon rain, of which I have no record.

Discovered that a number of potatoes had sprouted. Was going to put them in compost heap, then remembered what I did when this happened previously. I put them on Freecycle. And someone quickly replied, came to get them fairly promptly (in the rain)

Unloaded dishwasher, washed / dried / folded and put away a load of towels, etc. Hot, humid, quiet day.

I showered before I went to the library to pick up some items I had on hold and then when I got back, my dog and I went into the backyard and I decided to weed my garden a bit. Because it was nearly 100*F out, I was a sweating mess and then also very dirty, so I had to take a second shower only an hour after the first one. Right now, I'm procrastinating on working on my capstone project. Last week one of the things I started to do to procrastinate was to memorize all of the countries in the world. I'll have to find a new thing to memorize because I got the 197 countries down and also all of the US presidents in order. I could also just do my freaking homework...

Have a lot of errands to run today. I also have to go to the cemetery today.
Ugh..and I need a blood test.

*regular morning stuff
*blood test
* a ton of errands... including picking up some scripts.

In other words, it will be a busy day.

I did not order supper~~ nothing good on menu, so that is another thing to tackle.

It is the last day of heat and humidity; other day of Heat Advisory from the national weather service. UGH....

I hate to go out in this weather. At least my cars AC is working!! Glad I got it fixed.
I am also tired of staying in my 'cave'.

Had cereal for breakfast instead of oatmeal..

artiemom artiemom Take care in this heat. It’s not pretty. I am so sorry about G’s health. I hope that things calm down for him….and for you.

Humid and hot. Rick has been working on laundry. I sit at the table and fold it. He was also up at the garden, doing a bit of watering. Took Muffin for her walk.

I need to start working on a grocery list.
