*Reg morning stuff--
*Try to make it to the grocery store...
*My telephone appointment was changed from 10 am to 3:30pm...ugh*
*Need to see if the furniture store can order me another chair for my dining room table. I
About a month a go, I was trying to push the chair back, to get up. It caught, tipped over, and I fell while sitting in it. I discovered yesterday afternoon, that the leg is really broken.. dam.. It is only a year old... dam.. Contacted the manufacture, but they do not sell directly to customers... ugh..
It seems too damaged to repair.

Finally got some good sleep. I feel just drained.. Emotions are rubbed raw.
So glad my appointment today is with my psych. I know he is going to suggest a social worker. I had one earlier this year, but she moved back to her home state, to be closer to family. It was decided that I was doing so well that I did not need to have a SW.. Now, that has changed.

Situation in here is calling me to have more intense 'talks'....

Zipped through morning to do list -

1) A load of laundry is washed, dried, folded (easy enough, just a couple of pairs of blue jeans, towel, heavy flannel shirt). And hand washed yesterday's compression stockings. His legs look very good this morning!
2) It's chilly! so I made a nice fire in the wood burning stove
3) Fed cats, scooped litter pan
4) Had my coffee
5) Wild birds are living well - one smaller diameter feeder is halfway down. From yesterday. Today I hung the thistle sock and filled the specialty feeder with peanuts / peanut pieces.

And then I was off to Phillips Farm Market. I missed their senior hour (9:00 - 10:00 a.m.) but there was no one there and only 2 or 3 other women came and went while I was there, my shopping slowed by also taking pictures. Beautiful produce, local dairy (milk in glass bottles!), some baked goods.

So I came home with Evercrisp apples, a quince (from California but where I used to forage won't allow me), a huge bunch of parley, shallots, and more.

I also bought apple cider donuts and honeycrisp apple cider.
Phillips farm market_2020-11_apple cider donut and mug of cider.jpg
Which we shared, quite pleasantly.

So far, today is a better day.

C catapault You had a good day yesterday. Love your picture.
artiemom artiemom :hugs:

I took yesterday off from the internet. And did absolutely nothing. It was a bleak day, all cloudy and yucky with lots of wind, cold, and even a few white flakes flying around. Spent the day with my nose in my iPad reading a library book and watching a couple X-File episodes. Rick made dinner last night; well, he's making dinner all week this week. Food tastes better when you don't have to make it. I got on TCS late last night, but didn't post anything. It was a nice day without any 'net. I'll have to do that more often.

The reason Rick is cooking this week is because I got tired of listening to him complain.
"Chicken," said in a very grumbling manner.
"Well, what do you want for dinner?"
"I don't know. Surprise me."
"I'll surprise you."
"Just not chicken. Or soup. Or spaghetti."
"You like spaghetti! You love spaghetti!"
"Well, yeah, I do. I'm just not in the mood for it right now."
"How about chili in the crock pot?"
"How about.....no?"
"Pot roast?"
"Nahhhh"
"Fine, what?"
"I don't know!"
"You know what? You're making dinner. Every blasted day this week. I'm tired of it."
"No, that's OK."
"Actually, it IS OK! I'm tired of listening to you complain about dinner!"
And that's why Rick is making dinner this week. Monday, we had something from Wendy's. Last night, he made sloppy joes with canned pork and beans. I don't know what's on the menu for tonight and I don't care. I don't care if we have take-out every blasted night this week. As long as I don't have to make it. Or listen to it.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my coffee. My turn to scoop.
  • I think we might be doing a wee bit of shopping this morning. We got an ad from a local store that Rick wants to check out for a few things.
  • Water the plants in the shed this afternoon.

Actually I think what I posted earlier this morning in "What's For Dinner" should have been here. Oh well. These days I'm always somewhat frazzled. Please excuse me.

Today I need to
1) Stop at the State Police to pick up the handicap parking tag. Then we can use it at the hospital for tomorrow's testing appointment
2) Go to Wal-Mart for several more gallons of distilled water for the humidifiers, and other stuff.
3) Stop at nearby Costco for gas. Since I'm there I will go into store for other stuff.
4) Intermittent helper might come again today so we can tackle leaves. But the clear blue sky now has clouds. We'll see.

*Regular morning stuff
*Phone calls... zoom appointment with endocrinologist.. yearly--weird.. all she will do is order thyroid blood test...rest is nonsense.
*other phone calls
*paper work...

*going to try to avoid all high stress full things: as in news, a lot of the internet...
part of my 'helping myself'.... Trying to do positive things.. or at least things to refocus me: journaling, coloring, trying to read, etc...

Staying in because it is frigid out there today, with a huge wind. It was 27 degrees with a wind chill of 17 degrees. Brrrr.

Hope you're feeling better this morning.
The crown was on one side and the filling re-do was on the other (he’d already re-done it once), and he had to give the filling side a double shot of the anesthetic. I’ve never been that numb! Crown still hurts. I fear a root canal is in my future. :(

Lily seems a bit better—not as many trips to the box—but not as much as she should. She’s still peeing more than her usual. We’ll run the course of antibiotics, though, and see how she is. It’s only been four days.
  • I need to run back to the dentist (my new home away from home) to get the mouth guard they made for me.
  • Chicken is defrosting in the fridge; I’ll make a batch of cat food this afternoon.
  • I’ll finish the mask I’m making for the bearded one (aka the husband). Beards (him) and glasses (me) make masks a challenge.

Usual morning routine, out the door shortly after 9:00 a.m. to run errands at Wal-Mart, Costco - where I also needed to get gas, and state police.

1) Wal-Mart: 6 gallons of distilled water for the two ultra sonic humidifiers. Wanted Andes bits for holiday cookies - no luck. Two packages of yellow raisins, dark brown sugar, a few other things then out of the plaza and across the street to Costco
2) where everyone's cart seemed to have a package of 12 Bounty paper towels. So I got one too. Oatmeal, chocolate chips for cookies, dark raisins, etc etc.

Like a game of Tetris I got everything into the car and headed home with a stop at the state police. Where the form from Himself's GP that he had filled out his portion was not good enough. The state police have their own additional form. And want a check for $4, cash or credit not allowed.

So home I went, unloaded car, fed cats, fed Himself, fed myself.

And my intermittent helper showed up. He'd said he'd call but did not. Oh well, better that he showed up unannounced. Set him to raking leaves and dumping them down the hillside. Back to the state police. Mission accomplished. Back home. Changed to work jacket and shoes. Pulled artemisia, roots and all, from area where I'll put fourth tire ring planter. Set cardboard, placed ring, had helper upend third pot of banana leaf canna into it. Collected tubers, moved them into garage to be cleaned and packed away. I swear to you, this is the last pot I'll save this winter.

And so went my day.

Mia6 Mia6 I know better than that! Yesterday was pizza from a local pizzeria.

Another argument yesterday....over me cleaning the computer room. He said I was making too much noise. And left for a walk. Came back and I was still making noise, so he worked outside all day. I took all the furniture out of the computer room that I possibly could, stuck it all in our bedroom or out in the hallway. Did a good vacuum. Washed all the windows, inside and out, took the dust mop to the walls and corners, then washed the walls. Then I cleaned the floor with Bona; while that was drying, I went into the bathroom and did the same thing, finishing up with cleaning the bathroom floor tiles and let the floor dry. After the computer room floor dried, I brought everything back into the room, got my Murphy's Oil Soap spray bottle out and cleaned everything. Finished up with a good polishing with my Guardsmen spray. Took all my cookbooks off the bookcase, washed and polished each shelf, dusted the cookbooks, and put them back. Did the same with my desk. Took the computer room litterboxes outside (we keep two in there), dumped them out, and washed them well. Let them dry before putting fresh litter in the boxes. The room is nice and clean. except for Rick's desk, which I won't touch. The bathroom is nice and clean. But that's why I work better at cleaning the house when Rick isn't around. He doesn't like the noise and all that hassle involved and he grumbles about it. He doesn't even offer to help me move furniture. I used to do all that stuff when he was in Portland, but he doesn't go there anymore since he's retired. The thing is....cleaning has to be done. I do a really thorough cleaning twice a year and then the rest of the time, it's just vacuuming and dusting with some swiffering thrown in. And a Bona on the floors. But a thorough cleaning has to be done. Oh, and I did three loads of laundry.

I told him this morning that I'd like to do the bedroom today or tomorrow, probably tomorrow. He looked at me, and shook his head. Said he has work to do outside. Good!

Garden is officially finished. We got down to 23F last night. He's going to pull the pepper plants and cut the asparagus plants down. That's it.
  • My turn to sleep in a bit. I got up at 8:00 and am drinking my coffee now.
  • Sit down and figure out exactly what I'm doing for Thanksgiving. Plan the menu, print out my recipes and my timeline, get the turkey out of the freezer today and throw him in the fridge. He's a 20-pounder, so he needs time to thaw. My co-worker told his parents he's not coming home for Thanksgiving because of the pandemic. They're upset and he's upset, but he's not doing it. They don't wear masks and he deals with that enough at work. I told him what time we were going to eat and I'll put a large dinner outside for him to stop by and pick up. He can take it home, reheat it, and chow down. At least he'll have turkey on Turkey Day.
  • The 2-hour series finale of SN is tonight. I'm going to miss that show.

Mia6 Mia6 When the aides were with my parents (and Rick's parents, too), we used to wonder exactly what it was that they did. Especially at Rick's parents' house. I know she did some cooking and some laundry. But honestly, after his mom went into assisted living and we had to deal with the house.....well, it wasn't pretty. Seemed like it took us forever to clean that place and you could tell that even minor vacuuming hadn't been done in who knows how long. We took care of my parents' house, too, but that wasn't nearly as bad. After my parents downsized to an apartment, the people who came in didn't really do that much. Part of that could have been Mom's fault because she was content to have them sit and chat over coffee. But overall, we weren't that impressed with the aides. My sister and I dealt with their apartment after Mom went into the nursing home and there were times when we'd just look at each and shake our heads.

Rick spent the afternoon outside yesterday, clipping bushes, until it got so windy that he had had enough and said the heck with it. He's going back out today; it should be a bit warmer and not as windy. He tore out the pepper plants in the garden; man, some of those plants had massive root balls. No wonder they produced so well. I had such a bad headache that I didn't get nearly done what I wanted to. He's going to clip the burning bushes today and, hopefully, the lilacs.

Watched the series finale of SN last night. And shed more than a few tears. I know, it's just a tv show, but 15 years is a long time these days. I still remember coming home from a zoning hearing meeting, turning the tv on, switching channels around and....there was Sam. I watched all the shows and have all the DVDs. I'm going to miss them.
  • Breakfast for the girls (Amber didn't start yelling until 6:00, pretty much on the dot! Can't complain about that), emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my coffee
  • After Rick gets out of bed, I'm going to attack the bedroom. I'll work in the bedroom the same way I did in the computer room. It will take most of the day to get it all done. (I may try to talk Dear Richard into helping me move his secretary's desk from the living room into the bedroom to make room for the Christmas tree. I can't do that alone. Our house is really small, so we have to finagle furniture around for the holidays.)
  • Still working on the X-Files. Almost done with season four, so I still have a way to go.

Today is:
*Regular morning stuff
*Quick trip to Big Lots...
*There is a Zoom meeting in her... a bimonthly meeting with the building director. Usually a nonsense meeting.

*make sure I am prepared for the scheduled power outage tomorrow. National Grid is shutting the poser of from 9-5 on Saturday, in order to upgrade their lines.

There is a small emergency generator in the building. The hall lights, one elevator, and heat will be ok.. Nothing else.
Have to get up early on Saturday, make sure dishes are washed, I am showered, house is vacuumed, etc..well before 9am. Make sure cell phone is charged.

I will spend the day: listening to radio~~ an old boom box I keep for this reason. I have a plug in land line phone, so that is ok...I will put my clean laundry away, try to read, journal, perhaps color, and I do not know what else.. probably cuddle with Geoffrey for a long time.. I have a couple of small lanterns, from my old apartment where power went out periodically.
perhaps a nap..

Avoiding stores--weekend before T-day... ugh.. and people are seriously stocking up

Will not open refrigerator or freezer. Have to remember to take out my grapes for snacking. Coffee or tea will have to be at Starbucks or a Dunkin--ugh

Supper will be take out.. Either a delivery from the 99--good local chain, or an Italian Restaurant which I have to pick up..
The weather will be in the 50's so that is good. Maybe a short walk.. but I have to keep remembering that I can only use cold water to wash my hands... ugh.. this calls for planning and sanitizer and sanitizing wipes.. ugh...I hate not being able to really wash my hands.. Gloves if I go out..

Do not plan on being on line, much, on Saturday..

Yesterday was pre-op visit at hospital for Himself. Very thorough medical history, blood draw, covid-19 test. Now he sequesters at home until Monday when we need to be at the hospital by 7:00 a.m. That's O.K. - early appointment should mean no delays.

Today I'm going back to the farm stand for more produce, more cider, more apple cider donuts. We've been enjoying a mid-afternoon cider and donut break. Is this the American autumn version of British tea time?

Then to friend to drop off the Whole Seed catalog. It's thick, it's gorgeous, it invites me to lust - but I don't have a vegetable garden and she does, a magnificent one.

C catapault Wishing Himself good news!
artiemom artiemom Good luck with your Saturday. Thankfully, it won't be freezing there.

I managed to get the bedroom cleaned yesterday, but not without mishap. I had opened one of the windows and put it out to clean the outside. And I lost control; the bedroom windows are larger and they are quite heavy and it just got away from me. It went down and out of the track. Wasn't pretty. I did managed to grab it again, but wrenched my back in the process. Rick was out front, so I called him for help. He came in, saw what happened, and he was not amused. He got it put back in, but it took a while. Oops. Real big oops. Did I mention that he was not amused?! And my back hurts, not as much as I thought it would, but it hurts.
I also found the holiday runners for the hutch. I opened the cedar chest to find the holiday comforter for the bed and there they were. Took them out to the kitchen and will put them on the hutch today.
Rick continued clipping bushes yesterday. It was a very nice day, sunny, and not quite as windy. We made it into the low 60s. He'll work on it today and should be able to finish. Tomorrow/Sunday it is supposed to rain.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my coffee. It was Rick's turn to get up, but he grumbled, so I said I'd get up this morning. Must scoop at some point this morning.
  • I have two loads of laundry to do.
  • Put the runners on the hutch.
  • Rick and I are going out to the shed to watch The Mandalorian tonight.

Already went to the supermarket for a few things. I went to the independent market two days ago for a few other things. No way am I attempting to go there the weekend before and days leading up to a big holiday :headshake: I did it once and the little store was super crowded and the check out lines snaked throughout the store. Imagine that during pandemic-times :eek2::fear:Even if the number of people in the store are limited, it'll still be a super long line waiitng outside the store in the cold weather.

I'll start laundry in a few. I'd like to have it going right now but the person upstairs goes to management with a hissy fit if he's bothered by noise before 9am. But it's fine for him to start laundry at 11pm and bother me with the thumps and rattling of his machines and pipes :rolleyes3:

I need to start cleaning and organizing the bedroom. I have the plumber coming in a little over a week and the water heater tank closet is in the bedroom.
