Reporting back.

1) Got the eggs at the farm & feed.
2) Got gas - first time since May 14!
3) Went to IGA and bought various items - milk to make yogurt plus a new plain yogurt to "seed" it. My last batch in the Instant Pot was kind of runny and I think after 6 or so batches I need a fresh starter.
4) Cleaning lady here and it is wonderful. She entered the house wearing a mask and her first thing after coming in was to use hand sanitizer.
5) My lunch was the tomato, quick pickled red onion, chickpea salad with some thin slices of Parmesan cheese added. Very nice.

artiemom artiemom Winchester Winchester Yeah I wish she would move as well, but her situation is unique with the government paying all her rent and utilities for a year. It bothers me how she takes advantage of the charities here, they gave her a lawn mower and she sold it, other things as well. She received $30.00 gift cards for a grocery store and wanted to know if I would buy one for $10.00.The good news is I haven't spoken with her since last week when I told her I couldn't handle her drama, that I had to take care of my own life and had to hang up on her because she was getting confrontational on the phone.
C catapault Happy Belated Birthday!! Your take away dinner sounds nice

Regular stuff
Have a load of laundry that needs dried but that will be it, too hot.
We had a lot of rain in a short period of time and everything got a nice soaking so will not water

Mia6 Mia6 Well, you're definitely doing the right thing by staying away from her.

I got a burst of energy in the humidity yesterday and cleaned the house. Vacuumed, swiffered, wiped down the bathroom and kitchen. Rick and I went down to the basement and even worked on cleaning that out. We put things in their places and I did a good sweep down there. It's still cluttered; it's a basement and there's no other place to put a lot of things, so we have totes of stuff down there. It will look a whole lot better once we get the recycling down to the recycling center and make a trip to the landfill. Rick went outside and put supports around the pepper plants; they're full of huge peppers, but none of them are starting to turn red yet.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my coffee. My day to scoop.
  • Going to go up to the garden to pick beans at some point this morning. We've been cleaning the beans, but leaving them whole, only snapping off the ends because we prefer whole beans. But I think this time, we'll just snap them; Rick is hungry for vegetable soup, so that may be on our menu tomorrow night.
  • Deadhead the flowers in the front flower bed.

1. Clean cat tent and carrier (both smell bad)
2. Order biofreeze. The humidity is aggravating my past injuries. Can barely move my arm
3. Got word someone dumped Shaman so have to go and get her

Going to be dangerously hot and humid today. Heat advisories are out and agencies are giving fans
and room ac units to people who need them. I'm very lucky to have central ac. Took litter out and it
felt like a sauna. Dew point is near 70. Cal is nice and comfortable with her short hair and I may cut it
again.

Kaylee has been doing well with the fracture. She went to doc yesterday. I hope she doesn't need surgery as
she doesn't have health insurance.

Winchester Winchester Veggie soup does sound good!! My mom used to make a cream of cucumber soup when it
was hot and it was delicious.
MoonstoneWolf MoonstoneWolf Did you find Shaman?

I was a sluggard yesterday. Yeah, I fed the cats, fed us, scooped litter box - but mostly I just sat. I'll claim I was recharging my batteries. I have more ambitious intentions for today.

1) There's a load of laundry swishing around in the washer. Will follow up by shifting to dryer. After which I will fold and put away.
2) Unload dishwasher that was run yesterday before I went to bed.
3) Major goals - finish cleaning my garage bay aka potting shed so my car can again be parked where it should be.
And
4) Tidy up the greenhouse. That means collecting empty pots, washing drip trays, cast a hard look at plants remaining in there (95% are outdoors for the summer), so weiter und so fort. Why? A) It needs to be done and better now that when crammed full of plants but more importantly because B) I have a line on a company to replace the twin wall polycarbonate greenhouse roof and I'd be embarrassed for anyone to see it like this when they come to make estimate.

So that's what I should be doing rather than hanging out on TheCatSite. Au revoir. (Guess I'm just feeling multilingual today)

1. Call Apple about the battery drain. I never let my battery get below 50% and notice it goes from 100% to 50% in an hour. Brand new phone too.
2. Relax (goof off and slack)
3. Watch ID and feel guilty for relaxing

Yesterday morning, I was finishing up making my marinated zucchini for dinner last night. And my vision broke. I finished cleaning up and told Rick I needed to hit the bed for a while. And then the pain hit. All day yesterday and I still have it today. I spent yesterday afternoon and part of last night out in the shed. Talked to Mother Dragon Mother Dragon for a while on the phone, and then went to bed. But the pain was so bad that I never got to sleep until 2:00. Pain and nausea both. Got up with it again this morning. It's in my eyes. I'm taking it easy again today.

This humidity is unreal and I think that's what feeding the migraine. I'm sitting back here at the computer and the sweat is running down my face. My shirt is soaked. Not good. Not good at all.
  • Picked a mess of beans this morning. Cleaned and snapped some for our vegetable soup tonight. Cleaned some for the freezer, and gave some to the neighbors, along with a nice zucchini. We also picked a few cherry tomatoes that were starting to turn. Rick staked up more pepper plants; they're so heavily loaded with peppers and the peppers aren't turning color.
  • I scooped boxes when I came back inside this morning.
And honestly, I think that's going to be my day. It's too darn miserable for anything.

Winchester Winchester I'm so sorry to learn that a nasty migraine has picked you to torment. This too will pass but miserable before it does. Sounds like you are just bearing down and keeping on. And there's nothing to do to make it better? Hope you feel better, and soon.

Thanks C catapault , I am starting to feel human this morning. That one was nasty. It was right in my forehead and my eyes. I finally woke up this morning feeling better. This headache was one of the worst I've had a in a long time.

I did talk to my doctor about the migraines again when I was in the other week. He suggested a sleep apnea test because apnea can cause headaches. I tried to tell him that this is not new. I've been dealing with migraines since I was around 12 years old. They went away after the birth of our son, but came back when I hit around 40. This is all classic migraine stuff. But he won't prescribe anything because 1) some of those drugs can be wicked, and 2) he doesn't know how I'm going to re-act, since I have such an allergic problem to meds in general. I went to a neurologist, I went to a migraine specialist, who refused to do anything because I don't have 15 or more attacks a month. So I deal. I came "this close" to taking some Advil yesterday, so Rick hid the bottle. I guess I scared him. I can't take any OTC meds, because I have an allergic reaction; my mouth, face, tongue, etc will swell up. Not right away, but in time. And I no longer have an Epi-Pen.

Anyway....
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my morning coffee. I already scooped the boxes (I wasn't feeling well yesterday and didn't get it done and Rick forgot about it).
  • Two loads of laundry
  • Waiting on the plumber. Actually we've been waiting on the plumber since Wednesday.
I did start Discovery the other day. I'm on episode 11 of season 1. It's good, but tomorrow is the last day of our CBS Access trial, so I won't be able to finish it. I might be able to finish season 1.

Help Kaylee with chores; it's been the blind leading the blind at my house the past week. Poor Kaylee in the walking cast, me running into her, her stepping on my feet with cast, ouch, but we're making do. Doc said she should bear as little weight as possible and use a knee scooter but she has no Health insurance. I called Discount Drug mart and they would rent one to her but she would have to pay a
deposit of $150.00. Goodwill has one for $130.00, too expensive. So I'm letting her use my Rolator, it will help and I'm not going out in this heat anytime soon.If she doesn't keep weight off it, she may require surgery to repair the fracture of her talus bone.

Try to keep cool.

Winchester Winchester Over the last several decades I've had maybe three or four "optical migraines." No pain. My vision becomes wavering - not blurry but like seeing things through ripples. Cannot see to add a column of numbers. Because it was vision I called an ophthalmologist who told me to drink strong black coffee. I had no pain so I don't think our situations are the same. But since you have tried other medical specialties perhaps a consult with an ophthalmologist might not be amiss.

Poor Kaylee indeed, Mia6 Mia6 That's a serious issue with her foot. Hope it heals well but it can take a couple of months, even for a simple fracture.

Mia6 Mia6 Another thought - I know the local rescue squad around here loans out medical equipment, no questions asked. Maybe Kaylee could try that option.

C catapault Thanks for the idea. I'll make an appt with an ophthalmologist and see if they can help me. Honestly, this last one was really bad. I was done for several days. Couldn't even comb my hair bc my hair hurt.
Mia6 Mia6 I'm keeping Kaylee in my thoughts. I hope she can keep the weight off her foot, although that's hard to do. I'm thinking of her.

We had quite a bit of rain yesterday from Fay. We were far enough west that we got an outer band of the storm and it was pretty much a gentle, soaking rain. No wind. That's the kind of rain we've been needing. The garden probably groaned in relief. Pretty much all afternoon into the evening. We'll take it and be grateful.

Made it through the first season of Discovery and I think 4 episodes into the second season. We were going to keep CBS Access for a month, but decided to give it up. Maybe later on.
  • Rick got up with the girls this morning. Molli and I lounged until around 8 or so, then we got up. I made my coffee and gave them their after-breakfast breakfast. I'll scoop in a few.
  • I'll probably do a quick vacuum and swiffer about the house at some point today. Nothing major.
And that's pretty much it. Right now, it just feels good to feel good.

1. Clean the cat area (it's that day of the week I move all stuff out of the way, sweep and pour water all over to get rid of ants and wipe down their shelters, tents and so forth
2. Do surveys
3. Dust, Sweep, Mop and bathroom
4. Testing IOS 14 beta. Huge battery drain (more so than 13.5.1) but one of my money making apps is running which it isn't on 13.5.1.

Very heavy steady rain yesterday, with my weather station accumulation report of 3.48 inches. Minor flooding issues - mats of leaves washed downhill and onto driveway. This morning is a steam bath, with .02 inches in the gauge from last night - so yes, better than three and a half inches. Some very tall cannas are flat. Need to figure out how to upright and stabilize. The deer repellent pint soda bottles with holes drilled in the sides and mothballs inside have some water - need to go around and drain.

Could not decide what to have for dinner last night. Had been thinking of chicken cacciatore, even thawed a package of thighs but we weren't that hungry when time came to start cooking. There was leftover tuna pasta salad but we'd had that just the night before. So - and thinking of the "what appliance do you not use" - I made ham and cheese panini. Somehow a panini seems like "more" than a ham and cheese sandwich.

Winchester Winchester Fingers crossed that the ophthalmologist has an answer.

Another rainy afternoon yesterday and I'm not going to complain. Rick spent the afternoon out in the shed, working on some union financial reports; he's giving up his financial secretary position. He retired last year and couldn't run again in June, so he's trying to get everything in order for the transfer over to the new secretary at the end of this month. I worked a little in the house, but nothing major, just a quick vacuum, etc. A nice, lazy day.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my coffee. I'll scoop in a few.
  • Wash the bedsheets after Rick gets out of bed.
  • Bake a pineapple upside down cake for our dessert tonight. I have some pineapple rings in the fridge that I want to use up, so cake sounds pretty good! I'll get that done in a little while.
BTW, I did break down and buy an AC unit for the shed. It will be here on Tuesday. Rick said enough was enough. My sister has a similar one for their attic and she really likes it. She trusts De'Longhi, so that's what I got.
