I don't know what we will to do today. We were planning to go to Costco where shoes are on sale this week. I would also restock on some preps. If we go there I want to also go to WalMart (I have a list) and Lowes, both of which are close by. But the weather is quite overcast and humid. So we'll see.

We've had rain all night (the good kind, slow and steady that soaks into the ground) and it's still raining this morning. We'll take it.

Finally got the Kindle up to Rick's mom yesterday. We added a large bottle of Dove body wash and a box of chocolate covered pretzels to her bag. She called last night; she's a happy camper and was munching away.
  • I'm sitting back here with my coffee this morning. After the trash guy goes, I'll scoop the boxes
  • Must do tomatoes and peppers today. I'm going to make fresh marinara sauce and freeze it in containers for lazy suppers.
And that will probably be it.

Winchester Winchester So sweet of you to include Dove Body Wash and chocolate-covered pretzels for Rick's mom.

Regular stuff, tea tastes really good this morning. I've been using cold water from the frig in the kettle and what a difference!

No visitors yet...hmmmm....

Kaylee will do banking and shopping as it's payday!:yess:

Chrissie came three times yesterday; Connie as well, and of course little gray tabby.

Mia6 Mia6 She loves chocolate covered pretzels, so we try to include them in her bag. Rick also got a box of dark chocolate covered pretzels for himself.
klunick klunick When Mom had Muffin, we got her a kitty stroller. She used to go outside a lot and sit on their swing and, this way, Muffin could be with her. Now that we have Muffin and her stroller, I like to take her over to my sister's little town and go for a walk. It's quiet over there and not a lot of traffic along the side streets. We keep her stroller in the computer room, so she can nap in it during the day. It's her secure place. She loves her stroller.

I ended up with 1-1/2 quarts of beautiful marinara sauce yesterday. A good dollop of red wine and a wee bit of balsamic vinegar added with the basil, marjoram, and oregano while cooking it down a bit. Yum. It would also make excellent pizza sauce. I'll be making more. While I was spooning the marinara in freezer containers yesterday, Rick was up in the garden. I went from no tomatoes or peppers on the counter top to a plate of larger tomatoes, a plate of grapes, and a plate of a few peppers.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, took the grape tomatoes out of the dehydrator and letting them cool down while I drink my coffee. Then I'll make more tomato powder.
  • A quick vacuum and swiffer about the living room and kitchen.
  • Check the plants in the she shed.

I really need to get back to walking daily again. Pounds are starting to add up. :ohwell: When I did my daily walks, it was right after work at a State Park. Not sure what is going on lately but when I drive by the State Park, it is so crowded. I hate walking the trails when there is a lot of people.I figured I'd do the big loop in our neighborhood but walking that is boring by myself. Plus having the babies would motivate me to keep going as long as they enjoyed it. Gracie loves taking rides in the laundry basket up and down the stairs so she might enjoy being outside exploring but from the safety of a stroller. Need to do some pricing and see if it's worth the risk of them ending up hating it and the stroller going to waste or having to return it.

Please keep Muffin in your thoughts. She went to the vet for her dental and should be home sometime late this afternoon. I'm worried about her. Oh, I know she'll be fine, but I'm still worried. Thanks.

Going to the vet is an interesting experience. We got there and called them. Somebody came out to the car to take Muffin in. Somebody else came out for us to complete the paperwork. Masks the whole time. When we go down tonight, we'll call again. Somebody will bring Muffin back out; somebody else will come out with the bill and to talk to us about her; we'll pay it with a check. We don't go inside at all. They do the same thing when we have vet appts....come out to get the cat, examine said cat, and bring her back out to the car.
  • We took Muffin to the vet this morning. On the way home, we stopped at the grocery store for a few things.
  • Scooped boxes.
  • I'm going out to the shed to work on a puzzle or read.

Winchester Winchester I will definitely keep Muffin in my prayers and thoughts today. I know that 'feeling' of worry and dread, each time our babies go in to see the Vet.. especially when anesthesia is involved...
((((((( HUGS))))))))

Please update us, when you are able to, about her status...

Thanks...

Today I went into town
1) Post office to mail bills and an anniversary card
2) To local church to donate the 7 cans of Bush's baked beans Himself doesn't care for
3) To local grocery store for coffee, bacon, ground meat for hamburgers (it is, after all, Labor Day weekend), and some other items
4) Appliance repair man here and dryer now heats
5) They are not Concord grapes but I bought 2 punnets of black grapes at Costco the other day. Will do the first steps - prep and heat, then strain juice. Let sit in refrigerator for 24 hours so any tartaric acid crystals will precipitate out on glass jar. Tomorrow I'll make jelly.
6) And before I went to town (sounds jazzy, doesn't it. I wish!) I did a load of laundry and hung outside.

And so goes my day.

Thank you for thinking of Muffin. She came home last night at 8:00 and promptly scarfed down a can of Fancy Feast (aka Crack for Cats). She wasn't really supposed to eat anything, but well, she was starving, simply starving. Or so she said. She lost 4 teeth. She has FORL (Banshee had that, too) and 9 teeth have been lost to that. The problem is that none of our cats will allow us to brush their teeth. We tried with Mollipop from the time she was a kitten, thinking she'd grow into letting us brush. Nope. She wanted no part of that and still won't let us try to brush. We're only about $650 poorer and we were expecting the bill to be a lot more than that. Our vet had said it could be anywhere from $1,000 to $1,200. I still think it's high, but well, it needed to be done. Mollipop will go next, followed by Tabby. Amber had a dental last year and she's still OK. I'm just glad to have Muffin home; I missed her yesterday. I'm so used to her flopping on my lap when I read and she wasn't there.
  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and am enjoying my coffee. I didn't have coffee yesterday and really missed it.
  • Making marinara sauce this morning; the tomatoes that Rick brought down the other day are ready to go as are the peppers, so doing some peppers, too. I might have enough for a pint or so.
  • Two loads of laundry
  • A good vacuum and swiffer about the house. Wipe down kitchen and bathroom
  • I have some things to do on the laptop in the shed this afternoon.
About halfway through season two of Blindspot. I like it. And I like being able to watch an entire show at one time. We're waiting for The Mandalorian to come back to Disney+ at the end of October. I think we're going to ditch Disney+ and ESPN at the end of the year. We'll keep Hulu and pick up Netflix (Lucifer). And we have Prime. It should work out.

Winchester Winchester So glad things turned out well with Muffin!! It is a huge relief when they return home; especially when they are begging for food!

My guy, Geoffrey, has FORLS, also.... sigh... He had 3 teeth removed in January. I was told to expect a dental at least every2 years, until there are no teeth left. sigh....

To get an appointment with a dental specialist is up to a 6 month wait!! OMG....

I think, at his yearly check-up, I will ask our regular Vet if she feels a specialists is needed. I hear the eye teeth, fangs, are the most difficult to remove... sigh....

I like the fact that my vet does x-rays after the extractions; to check for any remnants of the tooth, which could be left... And I also get before and after pictures of the area... for proof of how damaged the tooth was.

So happy for Muffin, now she can be pain free...

Thanks guys. Muffin is doing well. Scarfing down her Fancy Feast for her snacks. Right now, she's napping in her stroller. She's a big of a problem child when we have to give her her pain meds every day, but we're managing. She's not amused. She had an antibiotics shot at the vet and that's supposed to last about ten days.

Got my housework and laundry done yesterday and also the peppers and tomatoes. Got another quart of chopped peppers and a scant quart of marinara sauce.
  • Molli and I lounged until around 9:00 this morning. Gave the girls their after-breakfast-breakfast. Had my coffee. Scooped the boxes.
  • Stripped the bed and the sheets are now in the dryer.
  • Freshened my sourdough starter; as long as I keep her in the fridge, I can get by feeding her every two weeks instead of every week. Once we get into cooler weather and I can start baking more, she'll go back to getting fed every week. It's just been too miserably hot and humid these past couple of months. I also took ground beef and bacon out of the freezer for crock pot beans tomorrow.
  • Make my angel food cake (it's been ages since we've had angel food cake) and a bit of potato salad for tomorrow. Throw together some iced tea. I'll have to see how our mint is doing in the garden; maybe I can make mint tea.
