thank you, Winchester Winchester ! yeah, i couldn't kill a duck. i even try to avoid stepping on bugs outdoors whenever possible -- indoors is totally different....no bugs have any business being inside our home. ladybugs, crickets and similar get escorted back outdoors, while ants, bees, and wasps get sent on their way to whatever their 'great beyond' is. i've never had duck eggs before, but was told that they taste a little 'stronger' than chicken eggs, and of course they're bigger than chicken eggs.

i'd love to have some ducks, and chickens, to properly care for, and to enjoy the fresh eggs. they'd 'retire' here with me, when they were to longer able to produce eggs.

well, i made the phone call, but will need to call back there in the next few days. and i've almost completed the work on the meal plans and shopping list -- just a few more recipes to look over and make sure i have everything i need to make them, and a few items to check in the freezer for. i'll do the dishes and scoop the litter boxes shortly. i already ran a bag of trash out to the can outdoors.

micknsnicks2mom micknsnicks2mom I killed three stink bugs in the bathroom this morning.....I have no problem whatsoever killing those buggers. Man, I hate stink bugs; the cats won't even kill them. They know better. We always have a stink bug problem every fall; they come into the house and hide. And then come crawling out throughout the winter. Ugh The other night, Molli and I were lying in bed and suddenly Molli's head and eyes swiveled to the ceiling. I looked up and there it was. Got a paper towel, stood on the bed, got that bugger and flushed him. I hate those things.
  • Breakfast for the furkids, emptied the dishwasher, grabbed my shower
  • Hair appt after work; I'm feeling much better (headache still there, but not nearly as bad), so I'm going to keep the appt as my roots are starting to show
  • We might go over to Home Depot tonight, if my hair appt isn't too long (sometimes she gets gabby and my appt will take forever)

Glad you are feeling better, Winchester Winchester . Take care of yourself. Has your doctor ever investigated to see if there is something triggering the headaches.
Appointment later this morning. I want a trip back to Belk to pick up a pair of pants I saw and didn't buy. I thought I had a gray pair like them. When I got home to look, I found the gray pair was in a bigger size I can't wear now. I hope to pick up some things at the store and drop off two bags of discards at the thrift store.

Yes blueyedgirl5946 blueyedgirl5946 . I've been to two allergists about the allergies to the OTC pain meds. They won't do any kind of allergy testing because it's cost-prohibitive to test for whatever's in the OTC meds that cause the problem. And I've been to two different doctors, not including my family doctor, about the headaches. The migraine specialist refused to deal with me because I am not incapacitated for 15 days or more of the month. She only deals with extreme migraine cases and I don't apply. I basically got a "Sorry you're feeling so badly, but we can't help you." But so far in January, I had a bad headache for five straight days and it's only January 12. But I may not get another headache for another couple of months.

The blood pressure meds that I'm on right now are supposed to also help with migraines and the cluster headaches that I also get. This headache was my fault. I ate chocolate (some Hershey's Kisses) on Saturday and I know by now that chocolate is not for me anymore. But sometimes, it's just there and I eat it. I need to just get it out of the house and keep it out.

But darn it, chocolate really is a major food group!

Good for you. I don;t kill bugs inside or outside the house either. Even earwigs which I hate, I will put them out side instead of killing them. I can't kill anything.

1. finish editing my bf's Warhammer short story (short being 145 pages at last count). When he wrote it he thought you attribute dialogue like this:

"ok move out now, and be quick about it." He said.

the correct way is:

"ok move out now and be quick about it," he said.

So i need to go through and fix all the instances where its wrong.

lol, i dont actually mind, i love his writing and i like editing. its just a bit tedious.

2. clean bedroom for new bed being delivered today yay!

3. attempt to walk the kitty in the backyard.

We went from 62 F yesterday to freezing rain and then snow this morning. About two inches of white stuff on our hill; I guess it's supposed to snow for another couple of hours. It was so warm and humid yesterday; no coats, even with all the rain we had. This morning, around 4:00, I watched a car driver slowly inching his way past our house so I figured it was icy. Rick just came in from taking The Beast out and it's all white. Darn.
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, scooped the boxes
  • I have to bake a cake (undecided between a lemonade cake or a Hershey's Perfectly Chocolate Chocolate Cake with whipped peanut butter frosting) to take to my sister's for dinner tonight. I'm also throwing together crock pot beans. The Eagles play this afternoon and we'll eat dinner during half time.
  • We have to go into town to pick up our bathroom lights in my office. It was pouring when I left work yesterday afternoon and I wasn't dealing with the lights in all that rain. I and the lights would have been soaked. They came to my office yesterday. Errands: banking, Target, Lowes, etc.

Winchester Winchester , our DeeDee and Punky are intrepid hunters. they hunt every type of bug that comes into our home! they play with them, and then eat them. if they see me heading towards them, they'll quickly eat the bug -- the expression on their faces translates to, 'oh no, here she comes! quick, must eat bug before she takes it away from me'. so, we too get stink bugs inside our home, but the girls take care of them. now, bugs with stingers...i'm trying to teach the girls that those kind of bugs 'bite back'. last summer, our Punky got stung near her mouth by some bug with a stinger -- i stomped on it (again and again) very quickly, so the girls wouldn't decide to play with it again, so i wasn't able to tell exactly what kind of bug with stinger it was. of course, i called our vet and discussed bug stings and what symptoms to watch for. i suspect the wasps/bees are getting in via the attic vent, which has no screen in it -- i told the contractor to put screening in it, and even asked to make sure they'd done it, but they didn't actually do it. :angryfire: so i'll be installing some screening there as soon as it gets above frigid in temperature, this spring.

i think i remember that you really don't like carob, but i do wonder if using a good quality carob powder/chips as well as a good recipe(s) might make a difference for you. i mean, i use carob powder and carob chips. what i don't do is to use various other 'all natural' and/or unusual type ingredients. carob doesn't taste just like chocolate, but has it's own really good (imo) taste. it might be worth trying, simply substituting carob powder/carob chips for cocoa/chocolate/chocolate chips in a recipe you like -- you'd use the same measurement as you normally would, and see if you like the results...?

muffy muffy , you have a good heart! :redheartpump:

today i'll keep the wood stove going, crumble up more freeze dried chicken treats (to use as 'toppers', on their wet food) for my cats, wash the dishes, and spend a short time with the budget. after that, i'll watch some tv shows or a movie.

You also have a good heart. I like what you said about keeping ducks or chickens retiring with you when they are no longer able to produce. It is so heartless to put an animal to death (cows, chickens) when they are no longer useful to you.

I'm going to have to look into carob again, micknsnicks2mom micknsnicks2mom . Thank you for reminding me. I've thought about it when I read your posts about using carob. You use it often.

Since I'm off work tomorrow for the MLK holiday, I plan on doing some housework then. Which gives me pretty much a free day today.
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, scooped the boxes
  • I think we're going over to Home Depot today; we are looking at Kohler vanity sinks and toilets (in Thunder Grey) and Rick thinks we can order them, have them shipped to HD and then we can pick them up. I need to check Lowes online, too, for the sinks, not sure what all they sell.
  • Manicure tonight (with just a clear polish, I think, as my nails are still really short)

Winchester Winchester , i know that amazon sells carob powder, in something like 12 ounce cans. i only use carob powder/chips, no cocoa or chocolate -- no caffeine. i buy my carob at a bulk website, in a 25 pound bag (both powder and chips). i use the chips as chips in baked goods, but i also use them instead of baking chocolate in recipes. honestly, i've always loved carob, and it's been years since i've had any cocoa or chocolate. i would say that if you decide to try using carob, try to think of it as it's own thing and not a substitute for chocolate.

today i just have washing the dishes and scooping the litter boxes left to do. i was thinking to do the load of laundry i have ready, but it can wait until tomorrow.

i will spend a very short while with the budget today. i've got almost every little thing done with it for the moment, and today should get the last of the little things done.

and now i'm thinking about how cold it's forecast to be tonight, i think i'll move some oatmeal peanut butter cookie dough balls from the freezer onto baking sheets in the fridge to thaw -- and i'll bake them late tonight, during the frigid temps.

i've already spent time on some organizing and planning, and (was very happy to) bought some kindle books (indirectly) using my rewards points. i also moved some pulled pork to the fridge to thaw.

Off work today! :banana1: That doesn't mean I won't be working; there's enough to do around the house and I put it off all weekend.
  • Breakfast for the kids, 3 miles on the treadmill, stripped the bed, emptied the dishwasher
  • Sorted laundry and am on the first of three loads
  • Vacuum, dust, wipe the kitchen and bathroom down
  • Hair appt this morning (it was supposed to be on Friday, but even on Friday, I didn't need somebody pulling and tugging on my hair from that headache last week, so I called to reschedule) followed by a bit of shopping at Target
  • If I can find some time today, I'd like to clean out the nook in my closet in the computer room
  • Groceries tonight

thank you!

i understand why farms/ranches do it, but i wouldn't be a money-making operation here. i look at it that the ducks/chickens will have generously provided me with fresh eggs for years, so they deserve a peaceful retirement. i do have a big soft spot for senior animals.

today i've kept the wood stove going, washed and dried a load of laundry, sliced a loaf of banana bread, and made 3 liters of grape soda. i also printed some things, and plugged the last amount i needed to into my budget.

i'll fold and put away the laundry sometime this morning.

after that, i'll either watch some tv, or read for a while.

Back to work this morning!
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, grabbed my shower, Rick brought me into work this morning
  • Must scoop boxes tonight
Yesterday, I did get the vacuuming and dusting done, as well as the laundry. But all bets were off after I got to Ulta for my hair. My stylist is pretty good, but boy, is she slow. She did my full head this time around because I went darker and added more red; I needed something different. I was a little worried about it, but it turned out gorgeous and I'm really pleased. It's a very warm color. My appt was 11:30 and I walked out at 2:30. Hit Target, finally got the bathroom light returned to Lowes (I really loved that light, darn it, but Rick didn't). Rick called me to say that he was leaving work early to come home (machine broke down). We left for groceries as soon as he got home and were home by 4:30.

A quick trip across the street soon to the independent grocery store for pproduce I need for tomorrow's dinner. I'd go tomorrow but an all day storm is expected :ohwell:

Stuff Leroy into his carrier to go to the vet appointment.

Tonight there's a unit owner meeting. It's not mandatory but 67% of resident votes is needed to pass a rental cap. I'm all for a rental cap, 20%. I don't want my property value to drop because of too many renters, some of whom may be unruly and / or have complete disregard of all the rules.

Rick thinks we got about seven inches of snow. He brought me into work this morning. We're not going to deal with the snow all that much and we're going to leave the driveway pretty much alone because our weather is to get above freezing, starting tomorrow and going into next week. Most of the snow will be gone by then.
  • Breakfast for the kids, no shower, but I had to wash my hair this morning.
  • Two small loads of laundry tonight
  • Trash night
  • X-Files tonight

Rick had talked with a neighbor about plowing us out, if we got more than 6-7 inches of snow. He didn't expect it to be done for nothing; they agreed on a payment. So we got home last night and our driveway was clear! There was a note on the front door "No need for money. I'd gladly take snickerdoodles" I called him and thanked him. I'll be making snickerdoodles on Saturday morning and Rick will take them to our neighbor, along with the money. We are not having him plow us out for nothing!

I did something this morning that I haven't done in a long time. I fed the kids, emptied the dishwasher and....went back to bed. And overslept! I was so darn cold and I couldn't warm up this morning. Gave up, turned the blanket on High and went to bed. Rick came back to kiss me good-bye and he warned me that I was going to fall asleep, but I assured him I'd be fine. Molli jumped up and cuddled me; Muffin jumped up and lay around my back. I was toasty. Woke up around 7:00 and then had to rush like crazy to get to work. I made it, but whew!
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher (and that's as far as I got)
  • Must go out over lunch to gas the Tucson
  • A quick vacuum and Swiffer about the kitchen and living room tonight
  • Scoop the boxes
