Went to Pets Supplies Plus for more mouse food. I get the blocks from the bulk bin. I noticed that Pets Supplies Plus now has the original Weruva cans and BFF:) I don't think the price is any different from the independent pet store I usually go to.

Went to the supermarket that's near the pet store as well. I got general groceries and chicken to make dinner with.

I should head to the fitness center to get steps in on the treadmill and do some PT excercises. I'm feeling lazy, though :paperbag: Maybe I'll just read the book I took out of the library.

The mice need their box cleaned later.

micknsnicks2mom micknsnicks2mom Happy Birthday to Dee Dee and Punky!! :bday:

This morning I got up late, so late for all my regular morning chores..including medicating Artie, and my shower.

I decided to go through all my music CDs .. I have a ton of CDs! I forgot about most of them.

I pulled them out from their storage areas, dusted the outside jackets, opened them up to see if I had haphazardly put them in correctly.. I had a several doubled up and some empty covers. I sorted them out by artist and genre. I have a mixed bag of musical interest.

I ended up throwing away 2 plastic grocery bags of CD's and several old VHS taps  remember those???? :paperbag::paperbag::paperbag::paperbag:

I was sitting on the floor doing this.. My back is a bit sore from this.. so I said that is enough! I am going to enjoy listening to the OLD CDs I re-discovered!

You sure manage to stay busy.

Let me ask a stupid question. What do mice eat? Do they have a special kind of litter for them to use?

I got the snickerdoodle dough made, but didn't get them baked last night; my sister and BIL stopped in for a while. It was a late night, too, because Rick and I stayed outside on the deck until 1:30 to watch the meteor shower. Even though we had a late night, the girls didn't let that stop them from yelling about breakfast at 4:30 this morning; we finally got up at 5:00 to deal with them.
  • Breakfast for the kids (I emptied the dishwasher last night, Rick will scoop boxes when he gets up from his nap)
  • Working on three loads of laundry this morning
  • Must bake the cookies
  • I did manage to get the front and side yards mowed yesterday before the rain hit. I also picked up a bunch of walnuts. I need to get the back yard done today.
  • Rick and I are taking some cookies to his mother tonight
  • Manicure

Pet stores sell two types of food: blocks and seed mixes. The blocks are like cat dry food: all the ingredients are formed into a block shaped and baked. The seed mixes are like bird seed: various seeds and nuts and maybe dried fruit and veggies. I prefer blocks because the small animal can't pick out the yummy stuff to eat and leave the rest like they can with seed mixes.

The mice have paper bedding in their box. I use Carefresh. Years ago the only thing available was wood shavings like cedar or pine but those have irritating oils. They might be ok for larger animals like rabbits but not so much for a small animal like a mouse.

We didn't want to get out of bed this morning. But we work today and Tuesday and then we're both off the rest of the week. Rick is going to Vegas with a union friend....I'm staying home and hanging out in the pool. It works.
  • Breakfast for the kids, 3.25 miles on the treadmill, quick clean-up about the kitchen, grabbed my shower
  • Groceries tonight, need to put gas in the Tucson
  • Scoop the boxes

i washed the dishes, scooped the litter boxes, and took out the trash. later this morning i'll slice the loaf of bread machine bread.

after that, the kitties and i will have a quiet afternoon together. it's looking like tomorrow will be the day i'll start on the feature wall in the living room, so this afternoon i'll read and maybe watch tv or a movie.

Winchester Winchester -- may i ask if you'd share your apple dumplings recipe? i plan on buying some apples this fall, and would love to make some. i'm thinking to freeze them, then thaw and bake...?

micknsnicks2mom micknsnicks2mom Sure! If you can wait until later on this week, is that OK? I'll gladly send it to you. I have a meeting tonight and then we'll be getting Rick around to leave early tomorrow morning. But I'll make sure you get it. It's an old Betty Crocker recipe. And I do freeze my apple dumplings with no trouble. I bake them completely, let them cool completely down, wrap well and freeze. Will explain more when I send you the recipe. I've done as many as two dozen at a time.

  • Stopped on the way into work to put gas into the Tucson (we took the truck for groceries last night, for Rick to gas up the truck)
  • I have a Planning Commission meeting after work
  • Scoop the boxes when I get home

Rick made it to Harrisburg and is boarding. I was more than a little worried because the fog was terrible this morning.
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher.....and that's as far as I got this morning
  • Once it gets light outside, hit the treadmill
  • Just a quick vacuum about the living room and kitchen today
  • Go through kitchen cabinets to organize a bit (my plastics -- Lock'n'Lock, Tupperware, Rubbermaid -- need to be organized and some of the other cabinets need to be gone through)
  • Trash night (no laundry as we did it Tuesday night so Rick could pack)

Today is my "ripping through the house" day....well, part of it anyway
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher. Sitting at the computer, drinking my morning coffee and trying to figure out what I want to tackle until it gets light enough that I can hit the treadmill. Right now, dawn is breaking, but still too dark for me to feel comfortable in the basement.
  • Hit the treadmill
  • Clean the kitchen: clean and seal the countertops, Murphy's Oil Soap to clean the kitchen cabinets, wash the window and doors, wipe the appliances, vacuum and Bona the floor, a good dusting to the hutch and knick-knack shelves by the window. Wipe the fan and light over the kitchen table
  • Clean the bathroom: pretty much the same thing as the kitchen
  • A good vacuum and dusting in the living room, wash the window and storm door, take the foyer light panels down and wash them, wash the stair railing, take the dust mop to the ceiling to get rid of any cobwebs, bunnies, etc.
  • Walk down to the road to bring the trash can up to the house
  • Throw together a pan of applesauce brownies (I'm going out to dinner with a GF and I refuse to order dessert at a restaurant; we can share brownies and ice cream back at my house after dinner while sitting out by the pool.)

Pepe allowed me to sleep in until 5:30 when she came back to the bedroom and said, "OK, that's enough. Feed me NOW!" and I said, "OK! OK! I'm up!". And I stumbled out to the kitchen with five cats all running around, impatiently waiting for breakfast. (Since The Beast is in the kennel, even Muffin is coming out to the kitchen for her meals....no more taking food back to the bathroom for her; she's coming out and joining the party.) Now that they've eaten and bathed, things are very quiet while everybody sleeps off their breakfast.

Rick says he's up about $400 so far from his casino wanderings. I'm sure that, til he leaves for home, he'll be about even or a bit below.
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, and.....that's as far as I've gotten
  • Hit the treadmill (maybe); I'm considering going out for a walk tonight instead
  • Clean back here in the computer room. I'm taking all the furniture, that I can move by myself, out into the hallway and will do a good vacuum and then Bona the floor. Dust everything, wash the windows, all that good stuff.
  • Then move into the bedroom and do the same thing. That will probably take me most of the day.
  • Scoop the boxes

The first load of laundry is in. I'm going to wash my cup and then head to both the little independent market across the street (good for local veggies and fruit and artisinal products and fresh made breads and pasta and stuff) and the chain supermarket (for general groceries) a block further down the street and scrounge somethng up to make a big batch of dinner with. I should do some cleaning later

  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, and cleaned up a hairball in the hallway
  • Work on the bathroom closet
  • Work in the basement (vacuum, Swiffer, wash the windows). I want to look for some knick-knacks and candles that I put away last year and now cannot find.
  • Might visit with Rick's mother tonight

i'll work on my budget for a bit this afternoon, and do some planning/organizing. other than that, i plan on sleeping, maybe watch a tv show or two.

my day of starting on the feature wall project turned into 3 full days of work. the great news is that the preliminary sanding, installing of the pieces of wood and taking it all back down (to stain), and pre-staining sanding is all completed. next will be the pre-conditioning and two coats of Minwax's polyshades -- this will take two days, as the first coat of polyshades will need to dry before the second coat can be applied.
