I love each ones, but they each need to fit the format of all three sentences. No "a" in the first sentence, please! Do you still like all three without the "a"? I'm not sure about the Hurrah?
Thanks for clarifying and opps on the "a". I edited my earlier post with my updated suggestions. Hurrah - is a no and I agree.

I really like Catnip and Mice, but Scratching Post wouldn't work.

Each term needs to be tested in all three instances because we end up with one term that will be used for the name. When you do that, you can see some things work, but some don't.

For example, if we take Scratching Post -
  • Another user gave you   Scratching Post
  • Give this post Scratching Post
  • See Anne's  Scratching Post
You can see it works for the last phrase, but not really for the first two. We can't add "a" or any other preface, so the word needs to be a non-countable noun :)

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. I just added a sentence to the original post to clarify that.
Gotcha, my apologies about that. I'll just stick with Mice/Catnip for all three then! and scratch the Scratching Post one.

So:

Another user gave you Catnip

Give this post Catnip

See Anne's Catnip

Or

Another user gave you Mice

Give this post Mice

See Anne's Mice

Thinking about the "a" and it's meaning in the sentence. As it stands now - the words all have to be plural - meaning more than one. If you add in an "a" in the first two it would make it just one - singular. When giving a "ribbon", we are giving one each click.

Example:

Another user gave you a Purr
Give this post a Purr
See Anne's Purr

Of course, the third sentence would not be correct with an "a" and that sentence could be either singular or plural. AND, anyhoo, after more thinking... A thumb's up is plural and would mean two thumbs!! So never mind. :lol2:

First thing that came to my mind was Paws Up but someone got there before me. Seems popular though:-)

How about

Another user gave you: the cat's whiskers
Give this post: the cat's whiskers
See Anne's:  cat's whiskers

Edit - Oops, might be a bit similar to another one posted by Natalie-ca  ?

Awesome suggestions - thank you everyone! Let's keep brainstorming for a few more days.

Here's another thing to keep in mind. Users will be getting email notifications (unless they opted out of those) that another member gave them this. Some may be new users, so we need to make sure it's easy to understand.

Their first interaction with the term may be in the form of an email notification with a title that says "X gave you [blank]" . It's the first instance mentioned in this thread, so nothing new, except for the context.

Am I too late?

I love that happy little sound that cats make.  I call them brrs, but they are officially called trills or chirps or chirrups.

Note: Felicio means "happy" in Latin, plus has part of (feli)ne in name, & sounds like it refers to a "happy cat"

I like that one.

Chirps sounds more like something for a bird related site.  And "chirrups" sounds too  Western/Ranch-like.

I can't believe all the wonderful wonderful ideas in these threads
Thank you so much everyone! I'll be closing this thread tomorrow and picking one lucky winner for the sweatshirt. We'll then give this some more thought within the site team and make a final decision on which name to actually use.

One more day for suggestions!

Oh, and and don't forget to actually use the new feature too
It's working even if we still call it reputation...
