There is a visible abscess on my cat's tail. I tried to clean the area but it seems there's a lot of pus in the area that comes out whenever the area is pressed. She can't sit properly because of it and I already took her to a vet before. I thought she had broken the tail, and the vet only told me to clean the area with some oral meds. Problem is , she leaves outside and returns late if I clean and keeps vocalising a lot if kept in the house . Should I keep cleaning it only or are other steps required? Any advice would be great thanks.

For an abscess with pus, she will need to have it flushed out by your Vet, and antibiotics given, to not cause further systemic infection. Your Vet will also probably give her sub-q fluids for hydration, and the antibiotic. Plus the Vet will show you how to rinse the area with either saline, or a special rinse that they use.
