About two years ago I started looking for new dining room furniture, even had one wall moved so my dining room would be big enough to hold everything. Then when I found something I liked I discovered it was going to cost $6,000+!
At that point I decided I would try to get on piece at a time from craigslist or eBay. I had gotten a sideboard about a year and a half ago, but never found any matching pieces in my price range.
In May I went to an estate sale (one of the women in my church had left her entire estate to the church) just to see what was there. I fell in love with the china hutch and somebody else wanted the table and chairs. Unfortunately, the executor didn't want to break up the set. Long story short, I got talked into buying the full set: table & chairs, china hutch, buffet, and serving table. I didn't have the money in my checking account at the time so had to make several payments. The final payment went in this week, and I got my new (antique) dining room yesterday.
The sideboard behind the table at the left of the picture is the one I got earlier. The serving table is hidden under the boards at the lower right corner. I'll have to take more pictures once I get the shelves back in the hutch and buffet. I also have to figure out a place to store the extra leaves for the table since I don't need to have it fully extended most of the time.
I can't wait to get some of my pretty glass things in the hutch behind the glass doors. I had to pack everything away when I got cats that like to climb and knock breakable stuff off the shelves.
