Hi I think my 7 month old kitten just at thread from a small cat toy with thread around it its like a Christmas ornament. I found the thread all over her cat tree and came home to her vomit everywhere and she vomited in front of me. she is acting much more tired and less energetic but she will still play and and purr. She won't eat though. Not eating is strange for her, She is also in heat right now, I'm getting her spayed soon. It's too late for vet tonmight so I'm just worried

Hmm. Did you see any thread in the vomit?

Can you tell how much thread she ate?

I can't tell how much or if she ate thread. I found thread all over the place though all tangled up everywhere. She has just vomited again clear fluid. Vomited about 3 times since came home. It is pinkish, but then so was the thread. There is no thread in her vomit. I will try to take her to vet tomorrow. What should I ask them to do? Can xray see thread? or do oes she need ultrasound? Really don't want to do either but it seems worse than I thought.

Pinkish vomit is probably a little blood from an irritated stomach.

The vet will need to determine if she needs an x-ray or ultrasound.

I'm asking catwoman707 catwoman707 if she has any ideas about what to do for your kitten tonight.

Will she drink any water?

This is extremely urgent, thread will NOT digest and will likely cause the need for sutgical removal.
As thread is trying to turn and twist through the intestinal tract it winds and constricts areas and can cause severe trauma and necrosis from lack of blood flow.
Kitten needs a barium xray immediately.
This can be deadly so please act now.

Please see Catwoman's response above.

You need to take the kitten to an emergency vet immediately!!!

I don't know of any cat toy where they use string and wind it around.

The only cat toy anything similar would be the small mice that have a cord type stering wound around for the body, but def not thin string like thread.

It doesn't even matter how much she ate, it takes one piece of thread or string that is more than 1 1/2" long to cause the trouble.

She needs barium fluid and an x-ray or ultrasound to view where the colored fluid backs up.

There is nothing that can be given either, it will very likely not make it through her system.

When did you see the thread around?

Usually it takes a bit of time for this to cause a problem.
